I would be interested as long as this 'fee' wasn't too high.

63  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Australian Govt. form asks if I own any Bitcoin of Cryptocurrency on: September 26, 2014, 07:39:44 AM
Nobody owns any bitcoins. The fact that they even ask the question shows a mis-understanding of the nature of decentralized cryptocurrency. If makes as much sense as asking if you own the number seven. Numbers are transcendent, nobody can own them.

In my case, I don't even own a cryptographic key to any bitcoins. I will admit that I do know a phrase that if you perform a HASH-256 on it, then convert to base-58, then add a checksum, then you could sweep an address and get some bitcoins.

But do I own any bitcoins? The answer is definitely "no".

This.

1. They cannot find out if you have any BTC so you might as well say no.
2. The question is worded incorrectly so the answer is no anyway.

I do find it quite interesting how they're asking this. It's probably so that people don't try chuck all their money into BTC so they can get the disability benefits. The question was probably created by a guy that was paid to do some research on how you can hide money from the government. Just saying though http://www.reddit.com/r/worldnews/comments/2hfevd/terror_laws_clear_senate_enabling_entire/ .
64  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Plans Bitcoin Ban by 2015 on: September 25, 2014, 09:30:11 AM
Although bitcoin cannot be blocked, Russians may not want to invest in it due to the fact that it's banned. The fear of future prosecution may convince Russians to cash out.

Site is down and has been down for a few days now. If I made a facebook clone and put up a 9k entry fee, anyone keen to buy in? It would be very exclusive! You could be like the only member!
66  Other / Off-topic / Re: need someone for change my ip on: September 25, 2014, 09:20:17 AM
Just download any of the free VPN software out there. Plenty of free OpenVPN configs out there as well that you could download and use.
67  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: CPU mining in Ubuntu 10.4 from shell only. on: September 25, 2014, 08:18:35 AM
See this thread http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=1925.0

The short of it:

Download the tarball
Install libcurl4-openssl-dev
Extract tarball and install cpuminer
Run minerd

not working on ubuntu 12.04 LTS Sad

Honestly though, it's not worth it trying to CPU mine bitcoin (especially if you're trying to do it from a VPS).
68  Economy / Services / Re: Software programmers only! on: September 23, 2014, 09:09:57 AM
It may help if you were a bit broader on what this was all about. Are you looking for someone to make you an altcoin?
69  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Greenpeace now accepting bitcoin donations on: September 23, 2014, 06:58:54 AM
Is it just me that really doesn't like greenpeace? Half of the money doesn't even go to valid causes. I'll donate 1 satoshi >Smiley.

I would do it for .3 btc amusing that it's nothing really time consuming. I'll add you on Skype @OP.
72  Economy / Services / Re: Hiring Developer (BTC website integration)! on: September 23, 2014, 01:01:36 AM
-> What's your website running on? ASP, PHP, etc?
-> How much are you willing to pay (regardless of 'quality')
-> A few more details might help.

If it's a PHP job, I'll talk to you on skype about it.
73  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if someone claims to be Satoshi Nakamoto? on: September 23, 2014, 12:31:22 AM
He hasn't come forward before, why would he now? Money obviously isn't a thing for him or he probably would have dumped his coins when they were 1k each. If he did want to come out into the spotlight then he would have so much media attention that he wouldn't be able to live a normal life. You never know, he may be a 30 year old genius living a normal life with a family and two kids in the suburbs Tongue.
74  Economy / Speculation / Re: 2014: The Worst Year for BTC? on: September 23, 2014, 12:26:29 AM
its been mentioned before but lets highlight it again
in short
buy 10,000 coins in september 2009 and sell them in september 2010 = $599 profit (well under a cent each 2009 to 6c each 2010)
buy 10,000 coins in september 2010 and sell them in september 2011 = $53,700 profit (6c each 2010 to $5.43 each 2011)
buy 10,000 coins in september 2011 and sell them in september 2012 = $68,100 profit ($5.43 each 2011 to $12.24 each 2012)
buy 10,000 coins in september 2012 and sell them in september 2013 = $1,104,100 profit ($12.24 each 2012 to $12265 each 2013)
buy 10,000 coins in september 2013 and sell them in september 2014 = $2,623,500 profit ($122.65 each 2013 to $385 each 2014)

easily explained, buy 10k coins in 2013=$1,226,500. sell for $3,850,000 = $2,623,500

so based on a 10k coin purchase 2014 is the most profitable year based on FIAT not percent

This argument will stop working from November onwards, lmao.

Nov 30 2013 - $1163

Nov 30 2014 - $163  Grin

Oh come on, bitcoin won't drop to $163 by December Tongue.
75  Other / Archival / Re: remove on: September 22, 2014, 11:45:57 PM
Although this may sound silly but someone asked me if they could eat bitcoin a few weeks ago.
76  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you download illegally? on: September 22, 2014, 11:20:18 PM
I normally pay for the main things like anti-virus software, and software from small companies. In a lot of cases like all of the adobe software, they'll gain off you downloading it illegally because it increases popularity and then you'll go off and actually buy it legally for your workplace.
77  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] bitkoin.io - Simple Bitcoin Calculator on: September 22, 2014, 11:08:17 PM
Personally I think it's simple and easy. Loving the wallet lookup feature too. Is the website mobile responsive?
78  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get benefit of btc price drop and make free btc quickly? on: September 22, 2014, 11:03:07 PM
Is It Too Late to Make Money from Bitcoin in 2014?

Nope, you just need to know when to invest and when not to. I'm no expert in the economics, but head over to the economics section and see what those guys have to say about the current market.
79  Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: Could I Theoretically Roll 10000 in Freebitco.in? on: September 22, 2014, 10:58:57 PM
I managed to roll a 9993 today and got 20 cents. Technically you could roll it, but I bet there is a very minimal amount of people actually managing 10k.
80  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-09-22] Bitcoin Buyout – Why Facebook Should Buy Bitcoins on: September 22, 2014, 10:54:23 PM
It would be pointless to buy out all of the bitcoin (even though it's not possible), it would get rid of its value. It would be logical for Facebook to accept bitcoins as a payment system, although buying out bitcoin would be pointless.
