Perhaps we are too quick to draw conclusions, but Bayern seem to be missing out on the title this way. You can't keep making mistakes and keep playing bad matches. Bayern Munich's statistics also say something, just look at how often they have lost. That's more than they normally do in 2 or 3 seasons together. But since last year there have been problems in the club, I don't know where the core of the problem is, but somewhere it will have to be solved for next season. I don't know if a new trainer is the solution.

A signed Newcastle United victory over Tottenham, I think there is little to criticize. But Newcastle isn't there yet, of course. A great season, but you have to finish 3rd or 4th to be able to put the crown on the work. The goal will certainly be to finish 3rd, but finishing 4th is of course still a phenomenal achievement for this club, which has only dreamed of European football for a long time.

Juventus may have had few international successes recently. But in the 90s it was still one of the strongest teams in the world together with Milan. But in the EL a title would also be very welcome. there is a lot of pressure on Juventus, it is also rumbling internally because an investigation into fraud has been made and serious accusations have emerged from that. Nedved is under fire, a price in Europe would make up for it in any case.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏆 The Emirates FA Cup - Season 2022/2023 on: April 23, 2023, 06:25:24 PM
Somewhat disappointing that we saw no goals at all in the FA cup match between Brighton and United. There was no score in extra time either, so we will start the penalty kicks in a bit. I think both teams have an equal chance of going through as they both have good players, they are not Brighton amateurs. It might be a disappointment if United are both eliminated in a week in the EL and FA cup. But the final against city would be a nice poster.

Manchester United have avoided an embarrassment and have managed to qualify for the final of the FA cup through the penalties. So you see that success and loss are close to each other. You will ultimately be judged on performance, so the game image does not always matter that much. But Manchester City awaits in the final, normally that is a difficult game and City is the favorite there, but in the other cup United also managed to beat City or was that in the competition? In any case, a good result for Ten Han at the moment, but a pity about the elimination in the EL.

Wow. I know some of you said it wasn't a surprise but I have to admit I didn't see this coming. Ajax in third place and maybe, just maybe even forced to consider having to fight off in the playoff for a spot in Conference League!

Alkmaar continues to upstage my expectations, can they pip Ajax to a guaranteed spot next season (that's even if they don't buy their own ticket by winning Conference)?

From what I understand, the number 2 also has an extra ticket for the CL from next season. And the number 3 would then be allowed to play preliminary round. Ajax will have to make do with a placement for the EL, but I think that is also where Ajax belongs. Only Feyenoord has a team that can compete with strong teams in Europe, but if you play against teams like PSG and City I would like to see it in a full tub. Arne Slot is irreplaceable, as soon as he leaves it will collapse like a house of cards, just like it happened with Ajax when Ten hag left.

yes, that is indeed correct. But PSV and Ajax don't have much to look for in the CL at the moment. They would both fail. PSV has missed a ticket for a few years in a row. The last time Feyenoord was active in the CL, it seemed to be a hopeless campaign. But this selection of Feyenoord is also difficult to keep together, I think. In principle, Kogcu is unstoppable and Gimenez is also in the interest of various clubs. But a well-deserved title for Feyenoord this season in any case, it was of course a huge display of power this season.

Inter Milan - AC Milan can fall in any direction in principle, Inter does have a stronger team, but not so strong that AC Milan would have no chance. Both beautiful clubs, a Milanese club in the final is already certain. Real Madrid Inter Milan would also be a great game, but we all think City will play the final. It would also be nice for Madrid to start a duel well. Last year it seemed to be without a chance for quite a long time, until Benzema had some brilliant ideas in the games before. 0-3 down against Chelsea at home was still repaired.
7  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: April 23, 2023, 06:16:58 PM
Juventus was also certainly not convincing against Sporting Lisbon, both at home and away. And they were close to defeat. I think AS Roma and Juventus are about equally good at the moment. Leverkusen and Sevila are the clearly lesser teams, at least on paper. But Sevila managed to play United 3-0 off the mat, those are things you don't just put down. A huge disappointment, but United of course missed it at home with a 2-0 lead. If that game had remained 2-0, this would not have become 3-0.

The odds that the bookmakers attribute to the mentioned teams surprise me enormously. I would have expected less value for Juventus, it seems to me that they will go through to the final and that they will have no problems with Sevilla. It seems inconceivable to me that Seville will reach the final, but Sevila has proven to be extremely successful in Europe in recent years. AS Roma also has a very strong selection. So an Italian final seems the most conceivable scenario. Then we might have an Italian EL and CL winner. Golden times for Italian club football.
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ⚽ Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 23, 2023, 02:35:08 PM
Paris St-Germain are preparing a 133m bid for Napoli and Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen and will move into pole position, ahead of Chelsea, for the 24-year-old. PSG is again gathering big football stars and putting together a mega team, but so far this strategy has not paid off for them. They still haven't managed to win the Champions League.

If the transfer fee for Osimhen was really only 133m, it would be a very cheap transfer in terms of price/performance. I think it is almost impossible to sign Haaland from Manchester City. Likewise, it is almost impossible to transfer Mbappe from PSG. I don't think there are any other strikers at this level. 133m is a very cheap price for Osimhen. Also, PSG need to sign more qualified midfielders to win the champions league. They can't win trophies just by transferring world star strikers, they need to turn into a good team to win trophies.
many teams are hunting for osimhen and I doubt PSG will get him (possibly osimhen will choose a team that has the potential to win the UCL)

I also think the same as you, what is PSG's weak point right now is their weak and uncreative midfield, the next transfer market must be put to good use by PSG to buy potential midfielders

Oshimen is a good player. If big clubs come forward, it will be impossible for Napoli to keep him. Teams like Man United and PSG may also sign up for him. If you then get a million-dollar contract that you can sign for, you have to have iron discipline to say no to that. He could still be of great value to Napoli in the league, but I don't think Napoli can keep him or give him a lucrative contract. Too little liquidity for Napoli. But with that money you can buy other players and build a good team to extend the championship.

The next F1 race will take place in Azerbaijan, Baku. Apparently there is a lot of money there to make races take place, while the country is known for relative poverty in principle. But Verstappen is probably every race favourite. Even if he has to start from 10th place, he still drives everyone home. Mercedes is slowly climbing out of the valley and has achieved at least a few podium places. Trying to win a race here and there this season and then competing for the championship again next season, that will be the tactic at mercedes.

What an incredible mess in Manchester United's defense at 1-0. And that goal also fell within 10 minutes, then your entire battle plan can go into the water. I think we can also blame Ten Hag, a player like MagCuire is just not good enough. You could play Zidane between 3 men and Modric too, but not MacGuire. And the 3-0 was not even that undeserved. From a successful season to a bad season now seems to be emerging at United, which can actually only have a good season if they finish 2nd in the league. AS Roma were very lucky to make it 2-1 in the 89th minute.

What's going on in St. James Park, Newcastle silenced the Spurs with a landslide score of 5-1 at this time. Although this is still a provisional score it is pretty clear Newcastle will beat Spurs today. Murphy and Isak recorded two braces in the game and it is likely that one of them would have scored a hat-trick if there had been no substitutions.

Spurs' performance in this match was so bad that they conceded 5 goals in the first half. I still can't stop thinking about a team that is struggling to secure a UCL ticket instead of playing without a fight. Newcastle have a stronger mentality than Spurs and this is spurs worst defeat so far in my opinion.

It was 5-0 but 5-1 is of course just as big a loss. And of course it will never be 5-5 again in this match. I don't know what's going on with Tottenham, since Pochetino left the results have become exceptionally less and also in the competition it is often poverty. But can you keep a player like Harry Kane this way? I think he's really enjoying himself in London and that's why he likes to play there. But Tottenham will really have to play CL. You ask yourself how it is possible that Chelsea has outsourced salaries and other sums over a period of 7 years. Apparently that's legal all day.

Liverpool eventually won. With a final score of 3-2, while it was still 0-0 at halftime. That is quite remarkable. 5 goals in a half. Liverpool is not having a top season, but not a bad one either. Chelsea are having a really dramatic season, while they definitely have the most expensive team on the field in terms of player capital. I don't think there are teams with more market value. Kante does participate again at Chelsea, but he returns from an injury and is far from his old level. Chelsea has good players but as a team it is not working yet. With the right trainer you could make this a world team. So I wonder if Lampard is the right coach for this?

Mainz vs Bayern Munich 3-1
How to describe the score of the current state of Munich? That was unexpected, they played without good coordination always losing the ball and allowing Mainz players to be free in their penalty box, is it possible for Munich to score 2 goals with less than 10 minutes remaining? maybe they'll concede another goal.
Dortmund must make the situation Munich is currently experiencing with good, in a few hours they will play against Frankfurt, not an easy opponent because Dortmund may also suffer the same fate as Munich failing to take advantage that exist.

Sadio Mane was the only happy player in Bayern Munich because after all they had in Bayern Munich and what happened between Mane and Sane the whole team was not in a good situation also I was not expecting to see a good performance from Mane until in this game Mane Mane scored one goal and the other goal he scored was not accepted by the VAR.
But even so, it's still not good for the whole and Mane knows that.
His performance in this match was quite good but on the other hand they still have real problems right now.
Losing to a very sweet comeback from Mainz made them drop from their first position at the moment.
Is it true that with this now Dortmund will succeed in breaking Bayern's record? But on the other hand, if indeed such a thing happened at the end of the season, then replacing Nagelsmann would really be something ridiculous for Bayern.

Strange defeat of Bayern Munich. 0-1 ahead and there seemed to be little going on for this team. When I looked at the score fifteen minutes later, I suddenly saw 3-1 for Mainz, 3 goals in fifteen minutes. That is unworthy of Bayern to conced so many goals. Dortmund really have a golden chance to become champions this season, even though they are playing without Haaland this season who has left for City. I think Bayern is still the title favourite, but Dortmund has it in their own hands, easy theory of course, but the problem is that both teams drop a lot of unnecessary points. And Unin Berlin also suddenly comes close to Bayern Munich if they win. Anyway, an exciting season.

Yes, it has become known that Djokovic has an injury and has therefore not been able to show his good game. If you do have an injury, it is better to be right now than in a few months when the French open will start of course. Where Djokovic will not start this tournament as a favorite. Alcaraz also made quite an impression in his match yesterday. Van de Zandschulp is currently having a strong period on his gravel surface, which is normally not his strongest surface. He beat Taylor Fritz in 2 sets, think both players are about equally good, but Fritz is a few places higher in the ranking. Tomorrow he will play against Rune, a Danish mega talent, who is also placed first in this tournament in the final.
15  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 22, 2023, 08:06:52 PM
Sampdoria on a 1-0 lead but it comes much too late in the season to avert relegation. An unexpected defeat of Lazio at home against Torino, no one would have thought that possible, we can say? Juventus can jump over Lazio Roma again. 3 teams relegated from Serie A, that's a lot. sampdoria has now also fallen so far behind that relegation can no longer be avoided in this way. And Torino have a solid season and are safe. Looking up at Europe is not an option. Torino was really a top team in Italy in the 90s, but due to unknown reasons, it dropped out of the sub-top in Italy.
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: April 22, 2023, 07:58:47 PM
Seems previous World Cup in Qatar has good qualities stadium than United State, Canada and Mexico, I can't imagine what FIFA decision or reason choosing North America because there are football is not popular spot exactly in United State they basket ball are most favorite sport. Talking about Major League Soccer seems not excited yet and FIFA have responsibility later if World Cup matches not excited and stadium full like in Qatar. Have two years later for the host preparing good stadium and seems they have enough team for rebuilding with stadium and infrastructure.

I highly disagree, I believe we will find structures of better quality in the World Cup when it takes place in North America, there were many rumors about the bad quality of the infrastructure in Qatar, specially for the rooms and places were fans were supposed to stay during the tournament. Not even mentioning the people who lost their life building those buildings for the powerful elite there.

In North America there will be more safety, regulation, and freedom to eat, drink and wear whatever people feel like.

Also, in USA and Canada there is a very important population of Latinos who are obviously very passionate for Football, even over Baseball and basketball.  Tongue

Still far away, the only advantage is that no stadiums will be built, unlike what we have seen with Qatar? I'm curious how the organization will be, logistically it doesn't seem ideal to organize a World Cup in 3 different countries. And the scope is of course also gigantic in these 3 countries, so that is quite a challenge in that respect. But 2026, that's still 3.5 years away. We just finished the World Cup 5 months ago. That someone has had the motivation to make a thread about the 2026 World Cup. The focus of European countries will be on the European Championship in 2024 of course. Who would actually be the favorite for the 2026 World Cup? Perhaps Germany will have put together a nice team again by then. After the failure of the last 2 World Cups.

It would suit the status and name for a club like AC Milan to win the CL again. What would have been the odds for AC Milan to win the CL at the start of the tournament? Manchester City or Real Madrid are the favorites anyway if they play against each other in the final. But emotionally I think that the Milanese clubs have a better chance against Real Madrid than against Manchester City. But that is emotionally, actually quite crazy because Real Madrid is the undisputed champion if you look at the history in the CL. We all know that Manchester City play great football, but there's going to be a trophy to be won at some point. It should have happened against Chelsea, but they also went out inexplicably against Real Madrid last year.

A good Liverpool win but it looks like Liverpool just had a good day and Leeds United had a really bad one. Then these kinds of results can occur. It could also be that Liverpool lose 2-0 to the number 16 in the league next week. It's just very volatile at Liverpool this season, that's the team's biggest problem. They can't keep their level and Mane is missed anyway. Cody Gakpo has made the switch from PSV but is having a very difficult time and seems to be struggling with the high level in England. Liverpool must fight for the title again next season and try to secure qualification for the CL this season.
19  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread on: April 18, 2023, 04:06:45 PM
Again we are talking about Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi, I'm sure these two players were perfect players for ways in any team they were playing but both players are getting old and specialty Ronaldo can't have a good performance anymore like he was playing in Real Madrid and after three years I'm sure both players will have even worst performance. We had even more famous players they got retired and other younger players could replace them there is no need to worry about these two players in the 2026 world cup.

We are talking about an event that is scheduled to take place after 3 years from now. In case of Ronaldo, I am 99% sure that he will not be participating. For all practical purposes, he has moved to Saudi Arabia and Euro 2024 (in case Portugal manages to qualify) maybe his last major tournament for Portugal. In case of Messi, I am a bit more optimistic. As the captain of the winning side in 2022, it is his responsibility to defend the trophy in 2026. So the chances are higher that Messi will participate in FIFA World Cup 2026.

Ronaldo is in any case motivated to participate. At the last World Cup he seemed to have passed completely, was almost not used at the tournament. After that he just participated in the qualifying matches for the European Championship. It is difficult to determine whether he will play. After all, if we are going to play the World Cup then we will be 3 years further then you will have reached an age physically that it will be almost impossible to play football at a high level. Just look at Ibrahimovic, he still has a nice level, but he will not reach the old level. Ronaldo is one of the fittest players of his age out there. That helps of course.

Judgment day is getting closer. Who will we see progressing to the semi-finals? I have also seen the drawn matches, isn't it a pity that all cross matches are known in advance? I get it, it saves a lot of time if you draw the quarter and semi-final together in one go. But the form and way of tension is slightly different now. I think AS Roma also have good chances to go far. United are vulnerable, and in Seville you can also have a hard time. Barcelona and Real Madrid always have a very difficult time there. Feyenoord is the dark horse here.
