41  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 04, 2015, 10:03:59 AM
I still think a country coin will be one of the big landmarks in the history of cryptocurrency adoption. Time will tell which one will be first...
I think there are two contenders for the title of "first successful national cryptocurrency". One is AUR and the other one is Guldencoin.
Guldencoin is in the much difficult position because the country financial system is based on the EURO backed by the EU behemot. Iceland recently quit the european integration. That means independence!
Also the size of the country matters.
Finland has a national aidrop cryptocurrency running. But i didn't follow FIMK too much.
My believe is that if a national cryptocurrency with wide adoption will emerge, it will be from a northern country.

I agree on the 2 contenders mate, unfortunately for the UK there is a lot of other coins where the developers are UK based so a need for a country coin wasn't going to be easy. Part of the reason why britcoin failed, if guldencoin was AUR the price of AUR would be over 100k now with what guldencoin has achieved and it doesn't have the whole "scammy" start to it. rocanonz is correct that aur will be much easier to achieve acceptance and might be the countrycoin that makes the first jump into top 10 coins. That being said when AUR works I think Guldencoin will take off like a rocket and might cater for the whole of Europe and not just Netherlands.

I am quite shocked to see only 206 FB followers(mostly foreigners) for a coin that got distributed to 40 000 people. I am starting think this really was a scam. Sad

Corrcection.

Is there currently a btc/ISK exchange for Icelanders, if not the team must get the AUR/ISK exchange up very fast otherwise Icelanders will just use bitcoin instead for security and peace of mind.

43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 03, 2015, 11:36:46 AM
It does not matter that the dev stole some coin, it been said many time by others that Icelanders don't know about btctalk. I won't be much on for next month to follow this thread but I advise everyone not to sell coins cheap. I have built up close to 1% of the total supply just by trading and will sell in small quantity when time is right not to crash market. Good luck to team if it fails I don't care if it succeeds I make some extra money and become rich off teams hard work. bye for now.

Mate if this coin goes to 100 usd can I come Polish your ferrari's in China. I have under 10k coins which I hope to pocket for some serious amount of btc when the people start  buying.
44  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 02, 2015, 12:23:40 PM
sorry I wasnt folowing auroracoin very much, just wanted to ask, why original dev gave up on it

Hey mate, most people believe the actual developer was not from Iceland but someone that came up with a good idea for the country because it was the hardest hit in the 2008 crisis. So the dev had his limitations of what he could do for the coin. Now a new team has taken over and potentially someone within this team is the real developer, but now there is no pressure on them to succeed.
The good part is that 3 people who control 1 million AUR in a foundation (part of the premine) are from Iceland and most likely the first real Icelandic people involved.
45  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 02, 2015, 10:49:34 AM
Probably I am going to say a lot of things the new dev team knows already. But I am still posting, I might bring up something new, you never know.
To be succesfull in some kind of business it is often not much more than copy/pasting competing companies in the same branche and do better where other businesses perform weak.
From this point of view Aurora can look at Guldencoin. Guldencoin has a couple things done very well. They made an easy to use software for merchants who want to accept coins. They have the mobile wallets ready, so the people can easily spend the coins.
Regarding the NOCKS system ( the possibility to pay with Guldencoin when merchants accept BTC), which Guldencoin is using, I am not really sure if Aurora needs it, because we want Iceland to use Aurora and not BTC.
Another important thing is how merchants have to do their bookkeeping. I am not from Iceland, but I guess there are payd taxes too there. So, merchants that accept Aurora must be sure that they know how to bookkeep. What looks most obvious to me is that, when a merchant sells some product for Aururacoin, he does the bookkeeping as if he sold in Krona. The fact that he owns Aurroracoin now, which can go up or down in value, is his own risk. But I can imagine some people have better ideas. So people holding Aurora have always a risk the price wouldn't be the same the next day.
Some kind of price-stabilty for Auroracoin will eventually be good to  convince more people to use Aurora. The price of Auroracoin started on the moon, because the altcoin business was ( and probably is) full of sheep, who never really calculated if the price was right. During a year the price was decimated to 6k satoshi to climb again to 28k, what it is now.
The devteam looks really serious and we all like that. When the devteam will perform well, and communitymembers attribute and help, the ultimate goal of having Aurora used by everyone in Iceland might be possible. Imagine Aurora manages to be succesfull, then the price of Aurora will rise extremely. We cannot help that, because the market will make the price. Something we ( and then I mean the people who currently hold some Aurora) cán do, is helping to keep some pricestabilty. When Auroracoin-price rises without the big bumps ( ups and downs), it will convince more people that Auroracoin could be more stable than the Krona, but what we don't want is price spykes like 200% in 1 day and 150% down the next day. Then some people who bought at the top are getting less attracted.
We also don't want Aurora to be a coin which price is stablized by a foundation that uses the 1M Aurora to stabalize the price. That 1M should be used for development, I think. I am telling things here, BioMike also thinks about a lot. As far as I know he does a lot of stabilizing for Guldencoin, as well. So actually, I am asking other communitymembers ( including myself) to put up some buy- and sell orders on cryptsy to make the orderbook bigger so we will not see these crazy changes in price. Of course we will never be able to prevent from big rises and falls, but we can make them smaller. To attract and convince more and more Icelanders tu use Aurora, a slowly rising price will be best.
Like mentions many times Aurora has big advantages over other coins to be succesfull; the monetary history of Iceland and for all the concentrated population. But before reaching out to the people, we have to make some stable foundation. Aurora has to easy to use, easy to bookkeep and the price of Aurora should be a slowly rising the coming years without the big bumps.
When basics are solid and Auroracoins are easy to buy via local Auroracoins or the Aurora-Krona-exchange office ( I don't know wheater the devteam is thinking about a physical office or an online exchange or both) we can start a marketing program, online as well in the streets of Reykjavik.
A marketing program should be build around an “economical education “ program. The best way to convince people is by explaining them economics, explaining people how fiat money works, explaining what quantitative easing is ( nothing else than stealing from people that have money), explaining the people that Krona's is nothing more than believing a government that failed over and over again in history. Because of the Icelandic monetary history, Icelanders are probably the best educated people in the world regarding economics, so this part wouldn't be too difficult. In Europe and the US the sheep (like 99% of the people) are still thinking they have a solid currency until it will fall down, like every currency in history did, in case of quantative easing

Sorry for the long post and poor english, I just wanted to be helpfull.

With all these things as Danslip pointed out guldencoin is half the marketcap of AUR. They have 88 merchants and all these great tools and half the marketcap... this should be a wake up call that it's not about usability when it comes to a high price but a safe place to keep your wealth and exchange back into fiat when you want to buy from merchants.
46  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 02, 2015, 10:45:20 AM
I'm planning to ask AUR to be traded on poloniex.com.

Why do we need it?

We don't. But as I hinted at in previous post, I want a healthy exchange market for AUR vs. BTC. Cryptsy is the main market right now (bter liquidity is low). A third market can't hurt, can it?

Get more exchanges for AUR, it's harder for people to manipulate the price when you have more exchanges. Just get bittrex to accept AUR.
47  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Auroracoin - A new chapter in the history of Iceland! on: May 01, 2015, 05:22:04 PM
I was a stakeholder of the "old" Auroracoin. Can you please provide information how this coin differs from the old one and how you are planning to reach all islandic inhabitants this time?

It''s the same coin mate. just new owners . Half of the 50% premine was destroyed.
48  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: April 30, 2015, 07:29:43 AM
They got now the right amount of Aur at coinmarketcap.com and Aurora is now ranked 50th!

http://coinmarketcap.com/1

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/

AUR top countrycoin again. This is why small amount of coin is better, guldencoin have to be 100 time better then AUR to have same marketcap because so many coin.

How many total coin will AUR have now after delete of premine?

^^ true mate, the more coins you have the better it needs to be. Guldencoin is far superior in what it offers but there isn't enough btc to support over 200 million coins compared to 6.5 million coins.

49  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: April 25, 2015, 11:02:37 AM
What happened is the best possible scenario.  I still feel that Baldur is one of you guys - the 1 more coin burned is a clear (and very funny) clue - but no matter who is he, he own our respect for being such a fair and honest guy.  Thanks !

Yes, but who cares as long as they remain true to their word. I was against premine being destroyed because now most coins in foreign hands. Most of it dumped to big holders.

It's a great story, I don't blame whoever is really Baldur on these forums hiding behind a sock account, there is a lot of pressure on the real devs when they create coins by the community that supports them. So at least with the Baldur still in control of the coin there is less pressure on him because it's almost like this new entity is doing everyone a favor.

Brilliant thinking! Smiley

To the moon we go .
50  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why would the shadowcash moderator delete the following post? on: April 20, 2015, 03:09:09 PM
Everytime rynomster has dev'd for a new coin it keeps getting better and better. It will be hard for him to top Shadowcash with the next coin he does, but many said the same about cloak. Great dev!

There's only one way to lose money:if you're selling CRAVEs at these funny prices.

Imagine what happens when China realize what CRAVE and BLUR is.

I can tell you just don't expect it so soon and don't expect the trolls'll come back here to say sorry,I was wrong as well.

One more time DO NOT debat to losers and trolls, you just feed them.

Sorry for my english

Cheers

If I had 1 btc for every time I read these comments I probably wouldn't be in the alt coin section Wink

I am almost convinced SDC will slowly die like Cloak, Cinni, Crypt etc. Crave will be the new anon coin of the month until the next one is released. Rinse and Repeat.

this ain't no Britcoin  Cheesy

I will take that one on the chin mate. Valid point! Smiley

No more new coins please.

Lets revive some old with good potential and already established name instead of creating new.
If they dump the premine in 18 days and are working on development whats bad about it?

Just invest in both Iceland coins mate and you just need one to succeed, but we will need to make sure there is no hidden premine like with ASIA coin for this new Iceland coin.
56  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: April 13, 2015, 01:29:47 PM
Does it all matter if it is a scam or not? Coin is currently "dead". New dev team takes up "dead" coin, kicks out "scammers" (block pre-mine) and starts to build up. What's the problem?

I guess the people calling "scam" here, don't have any AUR, so what is in it for them?

I agree mate, I am 200% certain the coin was created as a scam but this is why the rest of the premine needs to be destroyed with the hard fork. I have no doubt that the developer will have a lot of the coins still even with the destroyed premine which is the only shit part.
What about this new Icelandic coin going to be created in June? It will help AUR and the new coin in Iceland. More publicity from both coins and crypto.

A new team, A new coin for Iceland. IcelandicNotes will be launched in June.

After leaning from the early mistakes made by AUR distribution we want to start with a clean slate for Iceland.

Transparency:
Every team member will be contactable by phone, email etc Trust and Transparency is very important in Iceland.
Company address will be given and people from the public will be more then welcome to come visit.

Fair Distribution:
No Premine but coin generation will be done in new innovative ways, the focus will be on developing the currency for Iceland and making it usable on launch.

Team
The core team will only consist of citizens from Iceland and will outsource any needed skills we can't do in house.

Development
More to be announced closer to launch.

I will announce our new forums when we go live. It's time to give Iceland the coin it deserves.

LTEX,

You are clearly doing a good communication job !   But still i suspect you have to take a step back and see things from Eggert (or anyone else) point of view. For most, Aur is a mystery, Aur team too. Eggert raise legit questions, no matter what purpose he may have. For my part, the main reason why I invested in Aurora is I personnaly know one of the guy working ''behind the scene'' and I trust him more than I trust 99.99% people. But without that relation, I would not have invested, so I understand Eggert concerns.

Eggert, the guy i know is from Iceland - and I chatted with another icelander (a dev). I'm not icelandic, i'm Canadian. PM your skype we may chat if you want, i'll visit Iceland next year with my familly, so you may have some recommandations for me Smiley

It looks like this is why he doesn't want the premine destroyed as a lot of the big holders are from outside of Iceland.

Why is this problem? Premine must be destroyed is that is what promised. It will increase value of all our coins and then we sell back to Iceland people at high price and profit. I am not rush to sell and will hold until price is good.
I suggest you keep your coins in many addresses and few wallet.dat files as there won't be many coin and value will go very high when all plans come for Iceland.

Eggert has a point the biggest holders are foreigners for a coin that is meant for a specific country. The premine is the only hope it stays this way, this is not a easy situation because destroying the coins will make the value go up which is what everyone wants so we can get more bitcoins but from another stand point it's unfair for the Icelanders to be controlled by foreigners who will have the most say with their coin.
58  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][AUR] Auroracoin - a cryptocurrency for Iceland on: April 11, 2015, 06:30:27 AM
@BritcoinFTW

I'm french speaking canadian - so my english may not be that good yet !  Practicing a lot the last year in cryptos and others related projects, mostly within boards and skype, but since I'm surrounded with people from US, Canada, Germany, Equador, neatherland, Iceland and so, maybe I got some bad spelling from them all Tongue

But it's one part I do love with all these cryptos projects - I meet a lot of different people from different part of the world, and learn a lot from them.  I realy enjoy it.

Hows the bacon in Canada these days mate? Wink

You have to understand that this coin had an amazing launch and captured mindshare quickly, so we are on EVERYONE's radar by now.  Twitter personalities, traders, people into other coins, everywhere.  After scam after scam over the past year, everybody is disillusioned and skeptical.  That's normal.  There is a constant fight for capital in alts, that is the game, that is why we see people come into this thread or popular threads spamming random coins and other products or services.  In the early lifecycle its easy for people with large exposure in other coins to buy up large volumes and dump to try to destroy a competitor.  We just have to weather it and let the tech and ecosystem speak for itself.

We don't need to be going into other coin threads and trolling them or stirring things up.  We don't need that kind of marketing, we already have captured everybody's attention.  They will come here, probably forever, thats just the nature of the game.  Float above it.  Trade smart.  Know how to de-risk your position.  Put your money to work for you.  The volatility is normal.  It will probably continue for some time.  Use it to your advantage.  Look at what a few of our supporters have been doing while all the crazy shit is going on around them - they put their heads together and built a viable business with their adrenaline node service.  Block out the distractions and that is the kind of stuff that is going to pay off in the long run.

In the larger scheme of things in this crazy world, remember we are all on the same side and fighting the same battle.  This shouldn't become a cesspool of coin vs coin bullshit.  There's a line between good natured ribbing, and over the top trolling.  Let's try to stay on the good side of that line please and keep our eyes on the prize.

+100. Very well said!

Do you know if they will still do development on Shadowcash? I will watch out for the next coin this dev group creates and get in early for the pump.
