821  Bitcoin / Project Development / Stefan Molyneax - FreeDomainRadio on: March 06, 2012, 02:55:11 PM
I'd like to support Stefan Molyneax and get him to put Bitcoin donation information on his site.

I've pledged 5 BTC to him and his site as an incentive. Roger Ver has agreed to match my contribution. If you think this is a good bounty, please pledge the amount of Bitcoin you would be willing to donate if he begins to accept Bitcoin and mentions this change in one of his *casts.

I'd love to solder this together with my kid but I have no idea when it comes to the "flashing" stuff you're talking about. Do I need any extra equipment for that?
Flashing is the way you load the software on the microcontrolller. The ATtiny85 can be programmed by many programmers. For example: https://www.adafruit.com/products/46

Will this do?

In other news, I just asked adafruit to accept Bitcoin!

...

Point is, the device useful for many different passwords, not just one, and it can be considered a poor man's two factor authentication (have something, know something). The key gives the first complex piece, your memory and typing gives it a second, easy to remember, and variable piece.
825  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: DIY Yubikey! on: March 06, 2012, 03:05:46 AM
This kinda thing does not have much power(just 1 password?).

It should be a base for infinite passwords...

example #1 : insert DIY key then type 'cat' for your login

example #2 : insert DIY key then type 'dog' for your browser security password

continue infinitely

This is awesome! I use Yubikeys in static mode all the time for this.

I'd love to solder this together with my kid but I have no idea when it comes to the "flashing" stuff you're talking about. Do I need any extra equipment for that?

Milkman, I have some smallish items on my Amazon Wish List you can buy for me. Amazon will ship them directly to me. In return I'll send you Bitcoins upon receipt of the goods.

Got a bunch of stuff to sell you... Just upgraded my AR to SBR and have some left over parts plus some from previous upgrades.

Parts list:

Delton upper with 16" barrel. Upper is in perfect condition, but the barrel was experiencing some jams with wolf ammo. This is a full upper with carrier and charging handle.

foregrip and misc covers

collapsible butt stock

Full butt stock

10 rd mag

front and rear iron flip up sights (not shown). front flip up only works with the weaver gas block.

It took me awhile to get the hang of buying BTC there. The system won't let you put in orders if you try and buy more than what you have available for funding - rather than just stop buying. The volume just isn't there to make things seem automatic like MTGOX. I like the quick $5 deposits depending on how much I'm putting in.

I think I mentioned this somewhere else, but it would also be useful to have direct access to your proxy so that individuals could create their own proxy.pac file that redirects *.bit requests directly to you from their browser.

Perhaps this will be useful?.?.?

http://badpopcorn.com/blog/2006/04/22/coral-cache-and-htaccess/

It's for redirecting refers from big sights to the coral cache but you might be able to use it for your proxy by matching against something other than refer and pointing to your proxy? only gave this two seconds of thought...

tuxavant you got a copy of the code handy? I assume this is done with some kind of combination of php and apache rewrite rules?

832  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANNOUNCE] View .BIT Domains without any DNS Modifications or Special Software on: March 03, 2012, 10:19:28 PM
How about a coral cache type of interface where you simply prepend the domain you're trying to reach with the bitviewer.net domain..

Example, to reach wikileaks.bit, you would go to wikileaks.bit.bitviewer.net.

If you don't know what coral cache is, check out http://www.reddit.com.nyud.net/

Nope. Everyone's beginning to realize that the Bitcoin Protocol remains secure. Can you imagine what society would be like if we freaked out any time a pick-pocket was successful and decided cash was a bad idea?
834  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Proposal: Bitcoin Conference San Francisco - March 3rd-4th 2012 on: February 28, 2012, 04:29:47 AM
Just got laid off... high likelihood of attending. What's the itinerary?
835  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Cryptoxchange's System Sucks? or Just Me? on: February 22, 2012, 07:10:46 AM
+1 for Crypto from me as well... I had a bit of a problem, caused by me, and some bad timing regarding an upgrade they were doing, but it worked out well and I ended up doing my next "big" purchase with them again and it went very smooth and they were attentive.

I'm curious, did he tell anyone in SA about bitcoin ? I've looked about SA, but I'm a bit scared about what I read about the country, with high crime rates, if not it would've been a good place to relocate.

I just told him last night, but he said his brother, still in SA, will be very excited to hear about it. I'm sure I'll be engaging him often now that he's attending out tech meetings.
837  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bruce Wagner speaks about TradeHill on: February 15, 2012, 07:31:38 AM
You seem like a nice guy, please read this: http://money.howstuffworks.com/con-artist.htm

My favorate part: "new technologies and laws give con artists the opportunity to create original scams." LOL

And as a counter, I might offer you this advise: Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I'm not saying Bruce is an enemy of mine by any means. But if you suspect someone is capable of defrauding you, your guard should already be up. It's the people you dont know that are fraudsters that should worry you the most. My relationship with Bruce centers on discussions surrounding Bitcoin and it's amazing potential to change the world for the better. And in that regard, I have faith in him to promote Bitcoin with all of our best interest in mind.
838  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bruce Wagner speaks about TradeHill on: February 15, 2012, 07:06:27 AM
I gotta say, I've had dinner several times with Bruce and lots of one-on-one conversations. While I can't speak to his past suspected transgressions, he is a true believer and faithful advocate of Bitcoin and I respect him for that.
839  Other / Off-topic / Re: Wanting to support bitcoin even more when it's being 'attacked' ? on: February 15, 2012, 07:01:29 AM
Once or twice a month I give a Bitcoin presentation to a group of people at a technology forum in my area. Tonight was one of those nights. Tonight, there was a gentlemen, an immigrant from S Africa in who listened to what I had to say about Bitcoin. I could see the lightbulb illuminate above his head as I spoke. This one guy in the dozen that showed up are the inspiration for me to continue beating the drum. His aspirations to bring this currency "home" to his country keeps me inspired.

I get beat down from time to time from the haters and non-believers, but it's the people that get it and want to "join the club" that always keep me motivated to keep on trucking.

Viva La Bitcoin.
