Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The transaction fee is just ridiculous.
|

Some guy sent about 1,000 BTC and he included a 0.005 tx fee. This is that transaction: https://blockchain.info/tx/72bec59c7649d4527d8d7848ebc36840c89f5d36d18db9a91afd34d800826722This is what it means: Output $ 376,352.59 Fees $ 1.79 That kind of transaction fee for that kind of money sent is indeed ridiculous! He just sent over $376,352 over the internet to what may eventually end up being over a thousand different people, without opening an account anywhere or asking anybody’s permission. That transaction was completed and confirmed in about six minutes, and it cost about fifty cents in transaction fees at that time. Ridiculous! I think bitcoin is a pretty fair system. If you transferred that amount by bank you would probably end up paying a ton of transaction fees. That guy could have included a zero transaction fee, and the transaction is probably still gunna confirm within 10 blocks.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Price Alert! Bitcoin is lower than 12 months ago
|
on: November 09, 2014, 02:30:54 AM

So now, officially, no uber-bull can counterargument that even if price is higher than 1,3,6,8 months ago, overall BTC is doing great.
No, it's not doing great. It's actually doing very badly. Lots of people lost money with it and lots of bad publicity was cast over Bitcoin (deep web use, FBI's arrests, miner scandals).
PS> Don't sell because of bearish posts also. You will just push the price lower.
Great time to buy! People say it's because the miners in China trying to sell all their coins - despite they're making negative profit.

What if my cold storage laptop dies or gets stolen? How do I spend my bitcoins?
Is the only way to make a fresh install using my paper wallet?
I think paper wallet would work better than a cold storage laptop. Just don't throw your jacket in the washing machine without checking if there's a piece of paper inside!

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 336MH/s USB Miner.. Worth it? xD
|
on: November 09, 2014, 02:16:09 AM

Hey BTCForums.. I am getting 4 USB miners from someone on this forum and first of I just wanted them as a collectors item.. But.. Would it in anyway be worth running these small miners. You know.. For the chance of hitting a block Tell me what you think!! ~Hamuki 4*336=1.344 Gigahashes/Second. I don't think it's worth it, considering your electricity bills, and your computer speed is gunna slow down a lot.

Other / New forum software / Re: Old accounts - New forum
|
on: November 09, 2014, 02:09:25 AM
|
Sorry for the dumb questions but it's just to be sure; when the new forum software will be ready, all the current accounts will be transferred to the new forum or we have to register again? Activity will be resetted?
Thanks
Everything will transfer to the new forum. There of course could be some changes to stuff like the way activity and trust works - we'll probably have to wait for someone working on it or a staff member to respond for that one. So when are you going to know how the new activity system works? Also trust system has already been updated.

We are FORCED to pay a tax upon every transaction, and they say Bitcoin doesn't have any taxes? That's just pure crap. Taxation is unconstitutional theft via armed extortion. In Bitcoin's case, it's unavoidable, and is without the armed extortion (YOU ARE FORCED TO PAY).
It is not a taxe that you don't have a choice of paying, it is a price for a service that you can choose not to use Right. and let's break this down: We are FORCED to pay a tax upon every transaction -Nopeand they say Bitcoin doesn't have any taxes -Nope, who said that?Taxation is unconstitutional theft via armed extortion. - lol Nopeit's unavoidable, and is without the armed extortion (YOU ARE FORCED TO PAY). -NopeAgreed. You can choose your transaction fees really. It's just your transaction will confirm slower.
