Right, until somebody gets arrested...

Thousands of people get arrested everyday. That has no effect on the bitcoin price.

You know who that somebody is, right?

You?

No, hint he's fat, French or something and is Big In Japan.

It needs to be recognized that, whether intentional or not (though plausible ignorance only goes so far), Mt. Gox has effectively been abusing Bitcoin to operate a Ponzi scheme for at least a year. The November “bubble” well into the $1000′s – and possibly April’s as well – was driven by hundreds of millions of dollars of fake liquidity pumped into the market out of thin air...

That said, despite everyone’s expectations, it seems unlikely that there will be another huge “bubble”, seeing as they were never “real” in the first place.

 Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Crash to double digits incoming.

Am i the only one who finds the accent on this kinda fishy? The whole blog tries to come out as just collection of objective facts, and here he just draws a conclusion about future of the btc price. Kinda weird.

that price manipulation in the screen shot was when mtgox was going out of business so they wanted to hold the market up, right? this sounds like fear mongering to me...

Huh??? RTFA. The bot has spent $110 MILLION US DOLLARS buying >280,000 BITCOINS in the November bubble ALONE. There is evidence it was involved in every bitcoin bubble to date. If this is confirmed, its chilling. This is big news.

Not sure if serious.

I can't tell if you are joking or being ridiculously obtuse.

This WILLY shit is irrelevant. Millions of dollars of real money led to the bubble. Most of the rise in November was led by China.

None of this speculation matters.

Right, until somebody gets arrested...

" [ ... ] In other words, it's weird, it's fishy, it's Mt. Gox, but it's not proof of some kind of fraudulent trading in and of itself. It can mean a whole lot of things and I'm happy to see more information come out."
Well, some 650'000 bitcoins that were supposed to be there just weren't there at the end.  A crime surely happened, the only questions are which kind, how, when, by who, etc..

Mark claimed it was a theft, but AFAIK he has not provided any details (the thesis of the "malleability bug" has been disproved), failed to tell the police as soon as he noticed it, and did not tell the clients until after closing the site.   I hope the law will find the right label for his actions.

Which will be needed for probably any exchange operator out there. Wonder where the money on Chinese exchanges comes from right now? I don't.

So basically, each time, (1) an account was created, (2) the account spent some very exact amount of USD to market-buy coins ($2,500,000 was most common), (3) a new account was created very shortly after. Repeat. In total, a staggering ~$112 million was spent to buy close to 270,000 BTC – the bulk of which was bought in November. So if you were wondering how Bitcoin suddenly appreciated in value by a factor of 10 within the span of one month, well, this is why. Not Chinese investors, not the Silkroad bust – these events may have contributed, but they certainly were not the main reason. But more on that later.

lol

Not sure you will get the FUD you expect this weekend matey.

I'm fishing for laffs and this provides me plenty.

Please note, however, that it seems unlikely avatars were used to hack the forum.

probably, what does not mean that everybody will be able to take advantage of it.

Re the Willy report:  Is this the moment in the animated cartoon when the guy is about to realize that he has stepped off the cliff and has been standing on thin air for a while?   Wink

yes but this is Bitcoin, so it might be that the lie bootstrapped us to a higher price. I'm not sure though. I'm also not sure whether the report is factual (I just read it completely and it seemed coherent).

First they laugh at you then they send in the FEDs.

Just a few months ago Max Kaiser was praised as the new Bitcoin messiah. We are repeating a consistent pattern here.

Yeah I know you basically hate it.

Just stating the obvious.

It's stupid that I am the first to bring that up but here it is.

JED probably cares enough about his own money that he won't exhaust the order-book with his sales but essentially do it automated based on liquidity. Essentially, in his case prolonging the process of cashing out over his whole expected lifetime.

If he cared solely about his own money, the way to make the most would be to not tell people in advance. Smiley

Of course, what I think is that he cares at all.
