If Matthew used a bet-chain where the lowest bet covered the next lowest bet in the chain as follows:
1000 2000 4000 8000 16000 32000 64000 128000
then by proving he had 1000 btc he would eventually be able win all bets (assuming all bettors paid up). He could start even lower if he didn't have 1000 btc.
I think these bets are a blatant attempt to use logic to earn money, something which rarely happens outside of sci fi movies and should not be condoned.
Greatest. Post. In a long time! You show the beauty in math and statistics, thank you for that! Ente Of course all the action is in here, where everyone screams "SCAMMER, I'M NOT SENDING YOU MONEY"

Just because someone offered a PPT doesn't mean they were a scammer. The PPT OP's were taking a risk themselves. They offered a service investing in Pirate for a cut. They didn't run off with your money. Frankly, based on the evidence we have, I don't believe Pirate can even be labeled a scammer. It was part of the contract that he could declare default at any point, rendering the contract null and the money 'gone'. We don't know if he legitimately defaulted or not.

Again.
Ok. I didnt see the tag before. It seems to be something that is entirely hit and miss. Ive seen guys get scammer tags over 20btc and some involved in losing thousands of bitcoins avoid them. Sounds normal to me, that's the way it works with fiat currencies I think BulaNula had gotten one over 1 or 2 coins.

a bit like their delivery schedules, sloooow ahhhh I like that. Though, I don't think it is fair of us to derail their thread. Back on topic, as I'm sure there is adspace worth their investment.

Possible that Deepbit is redirecting some of its hashrate and the pool op is lining his pockets with unreported blocks? kinda explains why they've had bad luck recently
my thoughts too! Implying Pools are fair 100% of the time.

And yet no-one lost a single Bitcoin in this one.
Say I promise to buy 1,000 pounds of shrimp from you on a particular date at $10/pound. You turn down other deals on that same day. You take out a loan to buy the shrimp. You buy the shrimp. You rent a truck to deliver the shrimp to me. Then when you get there, I say "Sorry, I don't want the shrimp." But you gave up other jobs, took out a loan, bought 1,000 pounds of shrimp and rented a truck. How can I say "You didn't lose any funds"? Matthew's bet pushed up the price of Pirate debt. This caused some people to acquire Pirate debt at inflated prices to hedge against the risk that Matthew would win his bet. It caused people acquiring Pirate debt to pay more than they should have. And it caused some people not to sell Pirate debt when they should have, believing that Matthew knew something they didn't. Effectively, it manipulated the secondary Pirate debt market at a time when a number of Pirate victims were trying to mitigate their losses. It may even have enriched Pirate directly, at the expense of his victims, by allowing him to sell off his own debt longer and at higher prices. Very well said! +1 So, what lessons do we get so far? 1) Trust is like an illusion when bitcoins (money) is involved 2) Scam can come from even the most "reliable" and "trustworthy" people, or even close friends 3) Instead of curing the consequences of a scam, it's better to prevent it from happening (not implying anything for anyone in particular) Though I'm not sure how Matthew's scam could be avoided.... >.< However, I wouldn't label you a scammer if you didn't sell me my shrimp. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

status update At this moment ABCPool has some issues regarding to updating the account balances. We are investigating the cause.
Can I keep miners there or is it better to move, meanwhile? (or: are mined coins lost?) I wonder this as well. EDIT: I'm seeing stats correctly now. UPDATEABCPool.co is up again. Any shares that may not have been counted during the last day will be restored from our backup. We expect these shares to be counted somewhere during the next week. We will anounce this at the forum. Chlorine. Thanks Chlorine! I'm relieved to know that my shares will be counted soon.

Either post the source or PM it to me or this is getting locked.
Lol, there's your PM... I don't understand how a group of people can see two source codes and still think it's fake? Simple, the above source code + batch compiler = program. People here are wary of programs, especially ones that come from untrusted/new people. Normally any code is posted in a github.

Which is the best bitcoin miner available???
For ATI RADEON 6670 (800Mhz Clock)
Use poclbm, or GUI miner. A simple search should let you find it. Sign up for a pool, and use the extra flags: -v -f 0 -w 128 You should hopefully get about 100-110 mhash.

You don't.
Even if you could (which you can't) ...
Even if you went to the effort of making it work, it just isn't worth it. For a while I used a 5450 which got me 15mhash a day, it just isn't worth the strain on your system. If you have a 6670 in your computer, why don't you use that?

Don Shrents may very well be the current registrant of btclending.com, but averagecitizen.com WHOIS shows the following info:
Domain name: averagecitizen.com
Registrant Contact: Todd Taunton Todd Taunton () Fax: 3305 Palmtree Drive Mckinney, TX 75070 US Creation date: 30 Oct 1999 03:13:40 Expiration date: 30 Oct 2012 03:13:00
Another pirate "dba" ? No. My best guess would be a former client of Trendon's who may have abandoned a project for 1 reason or another, leaving Trendon with control of the domain name. Pure speculation on my part, but I can't see any other connection making any sense, although I have been wrong and still continue to learn new things daily. You are the "internet detective." Your guess is reasonably believable.
