142  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] $25 Travelocity Hotel Promotional Gift Codes (US Residents Only) on: September 24, 2011, 03:06:59 AM
You are selling a $25 discount code for $16.50 when it is possible to google for similar or better discount codes for free?
143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mt.Gox gathering personal information by blocking accounts on: September 24, 2011, 02:33:05 AM
I took all of my money out of MtGox after they continued to support Bruce and advertised on his show after Bruce was outed as a convicted fraudster and scammer. It looks as though I made the right decision.

A friend of mine who started mining when I did had his account blocked on MtGox the other day. This was when Marc announced that he blocked 2000 accounts for 'suspicious trading'. My friend was trying to sell off his bitcoins and get out of MtGox at the time.

MtGox demanded that my friend send a scan of his passport and a utility bill before they could release any funds. My friend politely told MtGox to 'fuck off' and to keep the money. Imagine what a scammer could do with photographic ID and a utility bill?

Why people stick with MtGox is beyond me.

Would you accept payment in solidcoins?
145  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Scammer Alert: logansryche on: September 21, 2011, 04:14:57 PM
Wow logansryche, you really have no concept regarding morality and ethics do you? Congratulations for alienating yourself from the bitcoin community. Nobody will ever take you seriously, and more importantly, nobody will ever do business with you ever again.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Unknown National Chain Restaurant to Accept Bitcoin This Weekend on: September 21, 2011, 11:12:49 AM
Anyone who can still defend Bruce or have anything to do with him after seeing the hard evidence of his mortgage scams (which includes court documents and news reports) are either somehow complicit with Bruce's scams, or are merely delusional die-hard ignorant fools who deserve to lose their money.

I personally won't have any dealings with any company which advertises on Bruce's show or is interviewed on Bruce's show. It is the main reason why I finally pulled out of MtGox.

What? STILL NO ABACUS SUPPORT?!?!  Huh  Angry
148  Other / Meta / Re: Make the Marketplace the Most Exclusive Subforum? on: September 18, 2011, 11:45:28 AM
Maybe people could treat trades in bitcoins just as they would treat any other financial transaction? It amazes me that people regularly send BTC's to anonymous newbies for deals that are 'too good to be true', then complain when their BTC's are 'stolen'.

Stop whining and just do your homework before you send any money.

Why do people still listen to Bruce or have anything to do with him?
150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Unique Business Opportunity - Relocate Your Mining Rig To Me on: September 18, 2011, 03:47:31 AM
I do think that it is OK to do what I am talking about.

Ok then, I'll reply to the points one by one.
Quote
If you were the owner of another one the companies leasing space would I notice or care about a 1% increase in utility costs on a monthly basis?

Just as someone might not care if they notice someone has taken $1 out of their wallet, knowing there is $99 left in there. What you are proposing is morally the same and is still theft.
Quote
As an owner of a skyscraper would it be morally wrong to lease out some of the space to a datacenter on FSG (full service gross) terms because they would use more power than the law firm next door?

I'm sure you'll find that in a professional skyscraper, each unit would be individually metered.

What about as the building owner changing the temperature 1 degree one way or the other for the whole building?

That temperature change is benefited by the entire building. Your mining rigs will cause the air conditioning to work even harder to maintain their current temperature.

I know bitcoins are saturated with libertarians, but seriously, how can you not see that what you are proposing is nothing short of theft?

I give up.

[Edit] Why would anyone trust you with their mining rigs if you think it is ok to scam innocent businesses out of electricity? Or are there various degrees of honesty these days? What, you'll only steal 1% of the rigs you receive?
151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Unique Business Opportunity - Relocate Your Mining Rig To Me on: September 18, 2011, 03:14:52 AM
So its ok then. They've signed a contract, therefore it is ok to burden other businesses with potentially astronomical power costs during a recession, just as long as you get your cut? Are you sure how much power mining rigs consume? And have you factored in the power costs of the extra air conditioning and fans needed?

You have a really dirty business idea which scams unknowing victims into covering a large percentage of the power costs. You should get into contact with Bruce. He'll know how to make your scam work.
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Unique Business Opportunity - Relocate Your Mining Rig To Me on: September 18, 2011, 01:16:37 AM
I wasn't implying that you were a scammer by the way, but I just wanted to slap some of the blind-faith out of some of the people on these forums. It is painful watching so many people lose money.

But I do have a question: 50% of the mining rigs electricity costs are going to be paid for by the tenants of the building. Will they be aware of your venture? And if not, isn't it paramount to scamming them?
153  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Bitcoin Show on OnlyOneTV.com on: September 18, 2011, 01:10:43 AM
Having Bruce promote bitcoins is like having Gary Glitter promote a children's charity.
154  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A Unique Business Opportunity - Relocate Your Mining Rig To Me on: September 18, 2011, 01:05:49 AM
Before you ship anything to this person, make sure that you do a full background check on him, have relevant ID sent to you and make sure that he has a valid historical online presence.

Carry on...
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What was your biggest bitstake? on: September 15, 2011, 02:05:52 AM
My biggest bitstake was trusting mybitcoin with a percentage of my BTC's. My second biggest was initially trusting Bruce when he started the bitcoin show.
156  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Ethical Exchange" is Coming - Should General Bitcoin Users Trust It? on: September 14, 2011, 10:25:26 AM
Thanks for the reply, but it still does not allay the many fears that people have concerning any new exchange. It's all just words at this stage. However, I will give your site the benefit of the doubt. Time will tell me if I will consider putting my money into it though.

Regarding the:

Quote
Their launch will be sometime this month.  The launch will be live on OnlyOneTV / The Bitcoin Show.

Are you now reconsidering how you are going to launch the site? I have a fine line that I have drawn regarding Bruce, and I refuse to have any of my investments in sites that are connected to him in any way. I know many other people who were hit with the MyBitcoin scam who think the same way.

Check out this post for a brief summary regarding Bruce. The entire thread (which was started by Bruce) is an interesting read.

Anyone trying to promote their show let alone being launched, by being interviewed by an experienced and clever con artist  - well, you can see why this might need a rethink Wink

I wish you all the best of luck if you are genuine.
157  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Ethical Exchange" is Coming - Should General Bitcoin Users Trust It? on: September 14, 2011, 09:15:19 AM
JONHIND - What is your approved list of sites and places to advertise our new exchange? We have not just built this overnight, the Launching on The Bitcoin Show was organised a long time ago. We will look into what you are stating here.

What are your thoughts again for marketing and spreading the word about our exchange without being shot down by people like you discrediting business's like ours immediately?

I'll lay it down straight. It surprises me that someone who is planning on launching a bitcoin exchange can be willing to have anything to do with someone who has:

a) Run a mortgage scam company, defrauding many desperate and vulnerable people.
b) Has defaulted on rents around the country.
c) Heavily promoted MyBitcoin, and continued to do so for weeks after being warned by the community.

There are also a lot of other allegations about Bruce, which while are serious, don't have any reflection on the bitcoin economy.

The vast majority of bitcoin users know about Bruce, and I believe that most of them do not trust him. He was asked by many people to explain some important points regarding his past and present dealings, and he replied by running away to a forum where he moderates every single post.

With regards to you advertising your site, this forum is probably the best solution, as are other bitcoin forums. If your site is secure, becomes trusted and works, then word of mouth will do the rest. If you desperately want a video interview, there are people other than Bruce who have produced some quite informative bitcoin video interviews.

Surely you can understand why many people will not trust you if you are in any way connected with Bruce? Many people pulled out of MtGox because they still advertise on his show (myself included). Many of us have been burned by the MyBitcoin fraud to ever consider being scammed twice.

Wink

Basically it's a bit of self-loathing too, he's like me 6 years ago but with the rhetoric turned up to the max. So ashasmed of my libertarian phase, at least it didn't last too long.

Yeah, me too. heh.
159  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "The Ethical Exchange" is Coming - Should General Bitcoin Users Trust It? on: September 14, 2011, 08:41:26 AM
If cryptoexchange is still around in a year and hasn't run off with everyone's money, then I might consider checking it out. Launching the site on convicted fraudster Bruce's bitcoin 'show' means that I'm going to stay well away from it until then. From my inquiries with bitcoin trading friends, I am not alone with my views either.

Launching a bitcoin site on Bruce's vanity show is like a childcare creche being opened by Gary Glitter.

I've read a lot that you have written Immanuel, but I haven't engaged with you for lack of time on my part. I apologise if what I write might appear harsh, but I do give it to you with good intentions.

A friend of mine once had a t-shirt that said 'Hire a teenager while they still know everything!'. That t-shirt sums you up Immanuel. There is no doubting that you have an intelligent mind and that you are an avid learner, but your failings are due to the fact that you have very little life experience to have such strong views concerning so many subjects.

"Life Experience: I wrote my thesis about that"... (quote from a Simpsons episode). Life experience cannot be gleaned from books. Life experience can only be gleaned from life, travel and time.

So to answer your question, people are mocking you harshly or are being abusive because you force yourself onto them as a target for whatever issues that they have. You are being mocked due to your naivety, and your short-sighted views concerning many subjects.

It might be time to consider stepping back a bit and thinking out of the box. Or maybe even some time out from such deep thinking? Also, stop allowing yourself to be trolled. Don't rise to obvious troll-bait. It is possible to just step out of discussions at any time Wink

When you reach my age, you'll look back on some of what you have written in the same way that I remember similarly ignorant and naive views that I had when I was an opinionated know-it-all 17 year old.

When (and if) I reach 80, I'll look back on some of what my 40-something year old has written with the same embarrassment. heh.
