221  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: February 07, 2024, 09:18:07 AM
All indications keep showing that PAOK will dominate this season. It was very much expected from them to win this match for sure. But they're well on their way to get on the Greek CUP's final as well where they'll likely play against Panathinaikos again, as we're on the semi-final stage now we're not 100% certain yet but this is the most likely scenario. So unless Panathinaikos has some shakeups happening, probably we'll see PAOK getting the cup too.

As of OFI, yeah, disappointing match result but not entirely unexpected. I sense that they'll be looking for a new coach sooner or later because the current one seems to not grasp the strengths and weaknesses of Greek teams that well. Losing to Kifisia isn't a great look.

I'm eager to see what's gonna go down in the upcoming matchday though:

From the above matches the most striking to me would be PAS Giannina vs Aris

Giannina is dead last in the standings so naturally Aris is favored for the win, but 1.82 is too good so I think I'll take it. Wink

Another good pick would probably be betting on Panathinaikos' win against Panseraikos. It'd be an easy feat for Panathinaikos in my opinion so 1.42 is worth taking.

The most entertaining match would probably be AEK vs PAOK

Also visible in the above picture are the standings which I intentionally left in the pic. If PAOK loses and Panathinaikos wins, which is not that of an unlikely scenario, then panatinaikos ties PAOK in the standings as first. Let's see. Grin
PAOK has been dominating the past few matches; their performance is outstanding. It was almost a guaranteed bet. Saturday's match of OFI against Olympiakos is almost a certain defeat; judging by them losing to Kifisia, I'd highly doubt them winning over Olympiakos. Panathinaikos vs. Panserraikos, along with Aris vs. Giannina are great earning opportunities ones as well, in terms of winning probabilities, while PAOK vs. AEK will be an interesting match, one I won't take the risk of betting on, as both teams are performing quite well and predicting the outcome isn't easy.
222  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Greek 2023–24 Super League Predictions & Discussion on: February 06, 2024, 08:56:16 AM
So the prediction I made on PAOK actually winning came out to be true  Smiley
~Snipped~
Also seeing panathinaikos win 2 to 0 against Olympiakos gives out some hope that Panathinaikos might be still chasing a title or perhaps even European dreams this year.
Sadly PAOK is doing all too well but the matches ahead from how are gonna be crucial on who developes a lead. Did y'all catch any bets this week on Greek league? I hope you took up betting on the PAOK match as I said  Grin
I didn't expect anything less from PAOK; it was an interesting match, to say the least, and a great earning opportunity. My whole family was always a supporter of Panathinaikos. Although I'm not that much of a fan, I still support them from time to time. It was a tough match, and I anticipated a draw, as mentioned in my previous post, but didn't expect them to win at penalties, so that's good for them; they seem to be in great shape.

On the other hand, it was disappointing to see OFI lose to Kifisia. I expected them to win as they've been in great form the past few matches, but I guess it happens to the best of us.
223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why it's wrong to save vital information on your phone. on: February 05, 2024, 12:41:03 PM
Many of the password managers through browsers can be compromised. If there's something wrong that has happened, they're going to notify you while the notification is a good sign that they've got a good way in notifying their users.

But this also means that passwords through them are not safe so if you are the type of guy that keeps your passwords there. Make sure that they're just like fine and you've got not loss upon them being compromised.

I know that many are lazy to type things upon logging in so they want to use the remember the password feature from these browsers but I won't do this especially with financial and crypto websites.
Google's password manager on Chrome actually warns you if any of your passwords have been compromised. It's a decent feature, and I've got to admit that I'm guilty of saving the majority of my passwords on Chrome through my Google account. Everything is pretty much synced to your new devices, if you wish to. It's certainly not the safest way to store your passwords, but it's definitely the most convenient one. As long as you don't keep your online cryptocurrency wallet or exchange, banking, or social media passwords saved there, or if you do, have 2FA enabled, then you're relatively safe, until things go south at least.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for February on: February 03, 2024, 06:19:51 PM
Bitcoin price has been showing signs of improvement since the beginning of February. But now Bitcoin halving is just waiting for Bitcoin halving and the highest level Bitcoin price is normal level to create opportunity for investors. Bitcoin price must be 40k plus in February.  Because the price of Bitcoin will increase in the future, this is an opportunity to invest before the halving.
That's true, but improvement started since late January, after a small bear period. It's unclear how the price will progress for February, but the previous years have been mostly positive, although this hardly means anything viable. I voted that it'll fall, in my opinion, we might go through a correction phase a little before the halving takes place. If that occurs, we'll need to take advantage of any opportunities that arise, because the upcoming few months are probably going to be fruitful.
225  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should prioritize investment over saving on: February 03, 2024, 05:22:09 PM
Both are alternatives to financial health, but saving is very different from investing. Saving is the activity of saving money that can be withdrawn when needed, while investing can provide greater profits for the future. The inflation rate which continues to increase every year will make the value of money in savings continue to decrease, the purchasing value continues to increase making savings not the best alternative for the long term.
The reason many members who comment here choose investing rather than saving is because investing can make a profit without having to work too hard. So investment is the right choice for future financial plans. If you don't need funds quickly, investment is the solution.
Both are necessary for your financial wellbeing, you cannot start investing if you cannot afford to save in the first place. Savings are supposed to be for emergency purposes, in fiat currency, while investments may last several years without touching your funds. The combination of the two is necessary, and can especially be combined with a high interest savings account. Revolut for instance offers up to 4% for USD deposits. That way you're saving and earning a decent interest simultaneously, risk free.
226  Economy / Economics / Re: Quitting Smoking Has Two Big Benefits. on: February 03, 2024, 04:27:34 PM
I never really liked the smell of the cigarette so I don't have this temptation to smoke. And I know that once you started it, you'll just find yourself wanting to do it to relieve stress, when you're tired, or even just when you're bored. Not to invalidate those who smoke but personally, I don't find any benefits of smoking. Aside from the fact that it damages your body, the excise tax on cigarette is increasing so it'll make you spend more money on it alone. The intention is good since the tax people pay for it is used for government health program, also it makes it harder for smokers to buy a lot of cigarettes. Tho the thing is, once you're into it, regardless of how much it'll be, people will still buy it.
So I hope heavy smokers starts to realize how much changes it could bring when they stopped smoking, health wise and financial wise.
My whole family smoked; I remember both of my parents smoking since I was a child. I couldn't bear the smell of the cigarettes or the smoke; it was overwhelming. This made me hate it with passion since I was so extremely young. I've tried smoking once or twice, but it never appealed to me. On top of that, it literally has no benefits—on the contrary, it completely messes up your health and ages you prematurely. Let alone the financial part, cigarettes are extremely expensive; you're literally paying to damage your health. I'm never planning to smoke in my lifetime.
227  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 03, 2024, 03:48:39 PM
That statement is true, I think with the large number of people who gamble, they really like this activity because the other side is the victory that can be obtained even though it is difficult to obtain. and the main thing is that everyone definitely has their own reasons for the gambling that they always do so that it becomes an activity that they are used to doing, despite the fact that they always lose a lot of money gambling, but because they already like it, that is not an obstacle for them to gamble continuously.

In fact, in my opinion, there are no benefits from gambling, in fact their health can be damaged if they gamble excessively, because in fact gambling can make someone forget themselves so that they can forget many useful things. except that entertainment can be obtained and pleasure can also be obtained if gambling actually results in winnings. It's true what you said, to be clear, they must be able to control themselves well in the gambling they do, so that they don't experience big problems because of their gambling activities, especially financially.
I don't understand why some people are trying too hard to justify their gambling habits and try to find excuses for their behaviour. There are no health benefits, I believe we can all agree that it's an entertaining activity that can potentially yield us some money in return.
Those who justify their gambling habits certainly have their own reasons, but in my opinion those who justify this are because they love the gambling activities they play so much that the bad things are not visible in the gambling activities they play.

It's true what you said, there are no health benefits in gambling and what we can get from gambling is entertainment for those who can play well and if they fail in their gambling of course they will have financial problems, so it is very important for us to be able to control ourselves when gambling and also to be able to enjoy it well lest we have financial problems.
I understand that people are judgemental, the word itself sounds negative, which is probably why some people are trying to justify their gambling in any possible way. However, we shouldn't really care what others say about it; it's not like we're using their money. My opinion stands that we should support what we're doing, whatever that is, but for the proper reasons.
228  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] USB Malware that targets crypto wallets on: February 03, 2024, 11:30:41 AM
As I mentioned, it was like a sort of gift, there are enterprise people who received a box with this USB stick and so they thought that it is safe as hackers are really good at hiding their intentions. Maybe they call it a gift so receiver will not get a hint that there is malware inside.
Oh right, I didn't notice it a few replies before mine. It makes sense; that's why you should avoid installing any unknown USB device. I'd never install something that came out of an unknown box. However, wouldn't it be possible for such a virus to be downloaded through a torrent and infiltrate any USB devices that may be installed on your computer? I believe that the possibilities are endless when it comes to hacking.
Sorry to hear that, I will assume that you have format it completely so that the residue of the malware or virus is no longer in your system. And as I have said before, not to rub it in, but sometimes we really need to experience being a victim so that the next time we will know what to do.
To be honest, I never fully formatted my computer. The malware's residue was eventually caught by Malwarebytes; it was completely undetected when I was first infected. I found it myself on Chrome's extension page. That, along with some manual cleaning, completely removed any leftover files; at least I'm hoping so. I've now installed a second SSD hard drive and run a fresh copy of Windows there. My wallet was isolated on the previous drive.

And yes, it's true. We always believe that it'll never occur to us, but then it suddenly does. I've no idea how it got installed in the first place, but I've got to admit that I wasn't always the most careful user; it wasn't really wise to download torrents while having a Bitcoin wallet installed at the same time.

Yes, gambling addiction can indeed cause significant harm beyond mere financial loss. While the financial consequences of gambling addiction can be devastating, the impact extends to various other aspects of an individual's life, including their mental and physical health, relationships, and overall well-being.

Here are some ways in which gambling addiction can be harmful:

1. Mental health: Gambling addiction often coexists with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. The stress and anxiety associated with financial losses, mounting debts, and the constant cycle of chasing losses can lead to a decline in mental well-being.

2. Emotional distress: Excessive gambling can lead to emotional distress, including feelings of guilt, shame, and self-blame. As the addiction progresses, individuals may experience mood swings, irritability, and a sense of desperation.

3. Relationship problems: Gambling addiction can strain relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners. The preoccupation with gambling, financial deceit, and neglect of responsibilities can erode trust and lead to conflict, which may result in the breakdown of relationships.

4. Legal issues: In some cases, gambling addiction can lead to illegal activities such as theft, fraud, or embezzlement. These actions can result in legal consequences, including criminal charges and imprisonment, further exacerbating the negative impact on the individual's life.

5. Occupational and educational problems: The preoccupation with gambling can lead to a decline in work or academic performance. This can result in job loss, financial instability, and missed educational opportunities.

6. Physical health: The stress and anxiety associated with gambling addiction can take a toll on physical health. Sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, headaches, digestive problems, and other stress-related ailments are common among individuals struggling with gambling addiction.

7. Neglect of self-care: Gambling addiction often consumes a significant amount of time and energy, leaving little room for self-care activities such as exercise, healthy eating, and leisure pursuits. Neglecting these aspects can lead to a decline in physical health and overall well-being.

It's important to recognize that gambling addiction is a complex issue that requires professional help and support. If you or someone you know is struggling with gambling addiction, it's essential to seek assistance from mental health professionals or support groups specializing in addiction recovery.

Having a regular income can help ensure that you're gambling responsibly. If you rely solely on gambling for income, it can lead to financial instability and potential problems with debt if you experience losses. A regular income can provide a safety net and reduce the temptation to chase losses or make impulsive decisions and also, Gambling inherently involves risks, and there's no guarantee of consistent or predictable returns. Relying solely on gambling for income is generally considered risky and not advisable. A regular income from other sources, such as a job or business, can provide stability and financial security, reducing the reliance on gambling as a primary income

Gambling experts are individuals who claim to have extensive knowledge and experience in analyzing and predicting the outcomes of gambling events such as sports games or casino games. They often use various strategies, statistical analysis, and other techniques to make their predictions.

I personally don’t believe in gambling experts prediction because gambling by its nature, involves an element of chance, There are no fixed or accurate predictions so one should be cautious when gambling

It's also important for one to understand that the gambling industry is known for its unpredictability and the difficulty of making accurate predictions. Many factors can influence the outcome of a gambling event, including variables that are difficult to quantify or predict accurately.

Most if not all gambling sites would always say bet responsible. As it helps to avoid incurring losses which may lead to huge debts, Here are some responsible gambling practices that are commonly ignored:

1. Setting and sticking to a budget: One of the most crucial aspects of responsible gambling is setting a budget and sticking to it. Many people ignore this practice and end up spending more than they can afford, leading to financial problems. It's important to determine how much money you can comfortably spend on gambling and avoid exceeding that limit.

2. Taking breaks and setting time limits: Continuous gambling without breaks can be detrimental to your well-being. It's important to take regular breaks and set time limits for your gambling sessions. Ignoring this practice can lead to excessive gambling and neglecting other important aspects of your life.

3. Avoiding chasing losses: Losing is an inevitable part of gambling, and it's essential to accept losses and avoid chasing them. Some people ignore this practice and continue gambling in an attempt to recover their losses, which often leads to even bigger losses. It's important to understand that gambling should be viewed as entertainment, and losses should be treated as the cost of that entertainment.

4. Being aware of the odds: Understanding the odds and probabilities associated with different gambling activities is crucial. Many people ignore this practice and engage in games without knowing the likelihood of winning or losing. It's important to have realistic expectations and make informed decisions based on the odds.

5. Avoiding gambling as a way to cope with emotional issues: Using gambling as a way to escape or cope with emotional issues is a harmful practice. Many people ignore this and turn to gambling as a form of self-medication. It's important to seek healthier alternatives for dealing with emotional problems, such as talking to a professional or confiding in friends and family.

230  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Responsible Gambling Practices Most People Ignore and Sleep on on: February 03, 2024, 06:23:02 AM
I put more emphasis on limiting myself to gambling and also to prevent large losses. We don't know how much money we would spend if there were no restrictions on gambling. That's what makes many gamblers lose a lot of money, but they don't stop gambling. Instead, they become even more eager to recover their losses.

Limiting gambling can give us a sense of responsibility so we don't gamble excessively. We can gamble comfortably and have no targets to chase because we will consider gambling as entertainment.
I also believe that setting proper boundaries is the most important practice we need to master. It's really easy to lose control and go overboard, spending more money than you were actually planning. Trying to recoup your losses is probably one of the worst decisions you can make during a gambling session. I agree with most points mentioned by the OP, except maybe the last one. Although I'm pretty sure that the majority of people on this forum at least have the best intentions, it's an extremely delicate matter that should be discussed with a professional, a designated gambling support group, or someone close to you.
231  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Another health benefit of online gambling on: February 02, 2024, 11:21:44 PM
Why are we forcefully trying to find health benefits in gambling, especially without any valid arguments? People are working from home and are pretty capable of doing a great number of tasks remotely. I don't understand why it's such a big deal to justify online gambling, like it's much better than going to a physical casino. I don't see any health benefits listed here. Why are you mentioning "another?" How many more are there, and which ones are they? Gambling is nothing more than an entertaining activity that can easily take a turn for the worse.
232  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Warning] USB Malware that targets crypto wallets on: February 02, 2024, 09:47:00 PM
I'm not really surprised, hackers keep finding new ways to mess with other people's hard work. I'm yet to understand how is the USB infected in the first place? It was never recommended to install unknown USB sticks, that perfectly makes sense, but if we don't know how it's spreading, how can we defend ourselves from something that we practically have no knowledge of?

A few years ago I was infected with a fake Google Chrome extension, I'm yet to understand how I got infected in the first place, and I was probably one of the first victims, because I couldn't find any background information until many months later. My computer had residue from the virus until last year that I changed my hard drive.
233  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling addiction does more harm than mere financial loss on: February 02, 2024, 09:10:48 PM
Professional help is not easy, nor it is cheap. I have looked for a psychological help about couple months ago, because of totally unrelated to gambling reasons, and it was quite expensive. You would have to pay 30 dollars per session, and while that sounds like not a lot in some nations, it is definitely a lot in my nation, that would mean you would have to pay 60 to 120 dollars a month, just to talk with a professional, that's like 10% of my salary right there, I do not think that I can afford to do that.

This is why there are a lot of people who do not go to professionals for help and instead use that money to gamble and call that their therapy. I believe that we are going to all need that help eventually one way or another.
I don't know where you're from, but I believe the majority of countries offer free public assistance in such cases of addiction or mental health issues. Despite that, $30 per session is not too much if you take into account how much you're likely to end up losing due to being addicted. You could still do a couple of sessions per month; they're certainly beneficial for your well-being and your mental health. How can you afford to gamble but not afford to do something for yourself since you're realizing that you require professional assistance?
234  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2 years old kids alone at home for hours, while the father goes gambling on: February 02, 2024, 01:25:02 PM
Why bring the spouse into this. The one being irresponsible here is obviously just the father who was supposed to be home looking after the kids. If anything, the wife would probably be working bearing in mind her kids would be home safe with her husband whose job it is at that point to look after the kids.
The wife has no fault in any of this. We’re not entirely sure if she called to check in on the kids or not but I wouldn’t fault her even if she didn’t call. The husband was the one watching the kids and he failed woefully at that.  With actions like this, he probably doesn’t deserve the responsibility of raising kids.

Indeed, it's completely irrelevant and unnecessary. The story lacks context to blame the wife; she could be at work, outside, or wherever else; it doesn't matter. The father was left behind, responsible for the kids. It's purely his fault. I haven't heard anything more irresponsible than that. This is a pure example of someone who's severely addicted and cannot control themselves or their urges. You need to set your priorities straight; if you're not capable of raising children, don't have them, and if it happens nonetheless, man up and be responsible about it. There were so many things that could have gone wrong.

Couldn't he at least resort to online gambling? It would be slighly better than leaving his kids by themselves.
235  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: World female football. on: February 02, 2024, 10:06:53 AM
I'm not a huge fan of sports, so I don't spend too much time watching; at most, I'll watch football, which is also my number one choice when it comes to sports betting, and it's a fun combination when done simultaneously. With that being said, I've never watched female football due to it not being hugely appealing for betting purposes, just as @alani123 already mentioned, and due to generally not spending too much time on sports. Thus, I'm not too keen on watching, as the odds are often quite low and uneven, and you don't know what to expect. It's not worth the risk in terms of match betting.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first Bitcoin on: February 01, 2024, 10:23:59 PM
Get a hardware wallet, now you may think that it may be a waste of money to pay for something that you could get for free, and in a way you may have a point, as if you know how to secure your coins and the device in which they are stored, you do not really need to buy a hardware wallet, however since you are a newbie and you are still in your learning phase, the best you can do is to buy a hardware wallet so you can easily secure your coins and they are safe from hackers and scammers.
Although I understand your point, I don't think a hardware wallet is necessary in the OP's case. It's still extremely early; the OP just purchased his first Bitcoin, worth $110; the Electrum wallet will work just fine in this case and probably in most cases if you're careful enough and avoid downloading torrents or anything suspicious. I see that the OP has purchased through Binance, which is also fine for smaller amounts or for short periods; after all, it's the largest exchange of all; no need to get paranoid.

Anyway, congratulations, OP, for entering the Bitcoin scene. Keep DCA-ing, and you should be fine if you're budgeting correctly. My advice is to keep purchasing Bitcoin and transfer them to Electrum for every few purchases.
237  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To what extent have you hated yourself due to your gambling losses? on: February 01, 2024, 09:29:52 PM
I'm sure what you described has been mentioned quite a few times on Reddit and possibly on the forum as well; unfortunately, it's quite common. First of all, under no circumstances should someone contemplate suicide for whatever reason, especially if it's about money. First things first, I don't bet large amounts and tend to be a little conservative when it comes to betting. I find it kind of a waste of money to bet large amounts; I'm not expecting to yield huge returns, and I prefer to wager what I can afford and don't mind losing.

With that being said, although I've certainly lost some money in the past, I wouldn't go ahead and hate myself for it; it's a choice. I find it way too exaggerated to resort to such measures.
238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance Launchpool, a possible earning opportunity? on: February 01, 2024, 09:02:20 PM
You're right, using launchpool can be an opportunity to earn more..I learned about Binance Launchpool, but the high BNB fees were a barrier for me. Consequently, I switched to Bitget Launchpool, and my experience has been positive, especially with farming ZKF. Now, I'm looking forward to using BGB to farm ZETA, hoping for continued success.
What exactly do you mean by high BNB fees? It's pretty much autopilot on Binance; you just stake your BNB or FDUSD on the Launchpool platform, and that's it. I've never heard of the BitGet Launchpool, but it seems interesting enough, although I wouldn't go through the hassle of depositing any more funds on another centralized platform (unless it's decentralized but I didn't go through the whole platform). Most importantly, I trust BNB more than I'd trust BitGet's token; it ruins the aspect of risk-free investment, so that's a no-go for me personally.

Damn, yes, this upcoming matchday is going to feature the Panathinaikos vs Olympiakos match, which is dubbed in Greece as the Derby of the eternal enemies whenever it happens. Grin
It's one of the most famous rivalries in European football so I'm for sure watching that match myself.
It's interesting the odds favor a Panathinaikos win for this match but to me things are not as obvious.
I'd rather wait to bet on the match live to be honest.

For a match I'd gladly take the odds for a bet though, I'm all for betting towards PAOK winning against Atromitos:

To me odds above 1.5 are very good if you're betting on a win for the first team in the league's rankings.

Good luck everyone!
Wow, the Panathinaikos vs. Olympiakos match offers some great odds for both teams; what a derby! I might consider betting on Draw; nothing is obvious in this case, but despite what I do or who wins, I'll be watching it for sure. 1.5 is quite decent for what I could call an almost guaranteed win. Atromitos Athinon stands no chance against PAOK; the same likely applies to AEK vs. Asteras Tripolis. This weekend seems fruitful, and I wish you good luck as well!
240  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Viewpoint of a fan gambling on: February 01, 2024, 12:52:56 PM
I'm not a hardcore fan of sports betting either; I mostly stick to football and rely on the little knowledge I have. Generally, I tend to go with what could be called "safe" bets. Although I fully understand that there are no guarantees when it comes to gambling, Although I do have a favorite team, I'll opt to bet on the most superior team, whether or not I'm a fan of them or not. The whole deal about gambling is to earn some money in return. If I don't see my team winning for whatever reason, the opponent team has far better performance, or my team has been having troubles in the past few matches, I'll bet on who's more likely to win.
