... of course ... premine + presale ... why even bother? People getting burned in this deserve the losses. Need to learn at one point.

Thanks to all the people helping digging up the necessary evidence to unmask the scams. Keep up the good work guys!

it's the exact opposite:
bitcoin keeps the price of alts down
869  Economy / Speculation / Re: If Enough People Loose Their Money, Will Bitcoin Go Into a Long Bear Market? on: December 31, 2014, 04:12:36 AM
Let's face it fellas, almost everyone who heard about bitcoin at the end of 2013 or in 2014 has loosed money on their investment. Consumers aren't really adopting it, since it really only makes sense to use it when a retailer rolls out a big discount for bitcoin users. So I think many of these people who loosed their money aren't going to be coming back for a long time, and they're feeling let down. Probably the only reason we're still above $300 is because some of them don't want to accept their loose. But, soon they will accept it, cut it, and stop loosing sleep over it.

When that happens, $300 will be behind us and we'll then see several weeks or months of prices in the $200s or even lower. This is definitely a new era for bitcoin... but not the kind that most people here were expecting earlier in the year.

i think those who didn't sell now are likely to hold (go down with the ship) or buy altcoins for their money which are better than bitcoin with its inflation-problem.

From my point of view it's too late to dump bitcoin. In case it keeps going down i'll sell my remaining coins for alts such as quark and the likes.

Later in 2015 you will see coins go up to large marketcap - maybe next year already we can see one or two coins surpass bitcoin - panic will be great then amongst the big bagholders. I think in early 2016 we'll be getting a lot markets on exchanges with other basecurrencies than bitcoin in case things happen as i see them happen.
In late 2016 you'll hear about the ATM-machine producers they provide new software and all bitcoin atm's will switch over to a new coin with as little effort as a software update. Merchants will accept that coin too. In 2017 and 2018 merchants will stop accepting bitcoin then while it hovers around 1$ a coin and that's the end of it then.

Would bitcoin not have had this inflation and other problems to  surpress price; people would have adopted it much faster. Right now it's the thing you DON'T recommend to your friends anymore.

exactly! just like those perma-bulls keep calling $1000 $900 $800 .. $400 $300 $200 .. $1 as the new bottoms!
old days are coming back, same is the old price ($3 or whatever) you miss so much

if it goes down to 1$ it will go to 10 cents too, so no need to hurry to buy.
870  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: people saying it's going sideways need to check their heads on: December 31, 2014, 03:34:16 AM

So if you bought 10 BTC at 1200, you would have 3000$ value right now holding BTC. And if you bought 10 BTC worth of quarks on it's ATH you would have 0.6 BTC or 180$ now, lol.

lol that calculation is biased. haha

So if i bought bitcoin before the bubble and quark on the peak of the bubble?  ... i should compare that, right? This is too idiotic - you people aren't even funny.

You have a crystal ball to know it "will not go much lower now"?

Well, even my dog can see on the charts the bottom is in...

I see you are all a bit toxic with your inflation-pleagued bitcoin bags. I'll leave you with your butthurt.
871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: people saying it's going sideways need to check their heads on: December 31, 2014, 03:27:41 AM
Guess someone here holds some quarks...

bw, what value is quark holding when it failed much more from it's ATH than Bitcoin ( ATH was some 20x higher) and it's valued in Bitcoin whos ATH was 4x higher.

So if you bought 10 BTC at 1200, you would have 3000$ value right now holding BTC. And if you bought 10 BTC worth of quarks on it's ATH you would have 0.6 BTC or 180$ now, lol.

i'm not even that invested in quark. I just notice bitcoiners need to talk up their coin and talk down all alts. It's obvious now.
I do hold a few quark as i do hold a variety of non-scam alts because i'm not a monkey.

Quark in last bubble rose from 20 satoshi to 30000 satoshi.
This was an 1500-times increase (!)
It fell back to 1200 as of just recently which is still an 60-fold increase

Bitcoin same time increased ten-fold and lost 70% after that. It's currently up not even 3-fold from last summer. Quark is still up more than 100-fold from last summer right this very moment and it will not go much lower now.
872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: people saying it's going sideways need to check their heads on: December 31, 2014, 01:21:27 AM
Blah blah blah Bitcoin is going down! Blah blah blah let's make another thread about it blah blah. No shit. We get it, y'all are spreading the fear to buy in lower. It will reverse beyond denial at some point.

when it actually reverses i'll be the first one to make a thread about it, believe me
873  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: people saying it's going sideways need to check their heads on: December 31, 2014, 01:04:38 AM
You forgot to mention that the majority of all quarks that will exist ever is already in circulation.

Lol early adopters got a fuck ton of the total supply. No thanks I will not buy quark ever.

 Cheesy

lol. Early adopters in quark get as much of the supply in quark as early adopters in bitcoin do in bitcoin - only difference: quark value isn't eroded so heavily as bitcoin is.Bitcoin is for masochists only. In quark you get the value store immediately - in bitcoin you keep loosing money.

Go out and buy 1% of all quark in existance. That's a task that can right  now easily be done with with less than 15k$ - the price of a used car.
So what exactly did  you complain? These are  early adopters prices actually.

Bitcoins one and only real problem is: it is no store of value - not anytime soon

edit:

and next thing is quark can be mined by anyone right now with small equipement and will be like that for a long time, maybe always while mining bitcoin is impossible for normal people without large comercial farm now. But maybe things change and in few months you need commercial farm for quark and can mine bitcoin with your laptop again - who know? All possible.

people are about as interested in bitcoin as they  are in creepypastas (short horrorstories written by amateur teenage writers).
/snip

Funny you should bring something like that up. Right now my wallet is stuffed with gift cards, from the holiday season, and I can barely close it. That got me to thinking about bitcoin. "What makes these cards so successful and not bitcoin?" and then followed by "Well how successful is the gift card industry?" The google reports that the gift card industry is a 110B USD a year industry. That really pales in comparison to Bitcoins 5B market cap I thought. Maybe my logic is faulty but that kinda put things in perspective for me.

giftcards are much more accessible, easy to handle and understand.

110B a year industry?
Pales in comparison to bitcoin?
Excuse me?
If people would buy bitcoin for 110B each year the marketcap would be many billion already. You're making a logical mistake comparing (bitcoin)marketcap to (giftcard)tradevolume or is it giftcard-profit that is made during the year? Really i can't see a lot of sense in the numbers. One thing is certain: Average Joe is much, much more likely to buy a giftcard as a present than he is to buy bitcoin. Giftcard industry is really much bigger than crypto i assume.

Bitcoin doesn't make a good christmas present because nobody understands it or can handle it safely - giftcards are another story. They are easy to use and you don't loose money from holding them.

Giftcard scores 2 - Bitcoin scores 0

the downtrend is as intact as it was all year. This thing points DOWN.
This is no sideways-market.

but Quark is rallying which i take as a good sign for low inflation coins - exactly what has been predicted here by other members too: low inflation coins that can hold value are the next big thing
876  Economy / Speculation / Re: Damn, any day this should pop below $300 on: December 31, 2014, 12:37:01 AM
people are searching for "4chan" about three times for every 1 search they do for "bitcoin"

my opinion: this looks really grim and i honestly don't see recovering it - why should it? It didn't recover all year. Maybe will never. Maybe it  was really just a fad and people have grown out of it.

After all it doesn't make sense to hold bitcoin with this inflation it has. It's really only loosing you money. People don't know it, don't want it,don't understand it and don't have the time for it. Let alone are interested in holding with all the hassle and risk that comes with  it. It just requires too  much study for a sane grownup to get invested. It's very hard to handle safely and very hard to access. So why should people invest in it? The fad has faded. Get ready for a plunge. It's pretty much over for now.

Interest in bitcoin is as big as in one of the smaller non-mainstream niches for entertainment with stories from hobby-writers. Think about that.

You'd probably be more successfull selling people a short story from an unknown teenager first-time-writer as you'd be selling bitcoin to them.

There's about 20 searches for "pokemon" for every 1 search on "bitcoin"

So, yeah. Bitcoin is wildly successfull in changing the world (not) Roll Eyes

878  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How in the FUCK are you supposed to know what's legit? on: December 30, 2014, 07:05:23 AM

Why do I keep seeing people say to skip IPO's. half the top 20 coins on CoinMarketcap are IPO's.

because of selfbuys in ipo's which is easily possible with bitcoin and leaves no traces but is actually highly illegal. Of course these coins can do particularly well for the short/mid-term since after a selfbuy in the own presale most coins are held by the one issuing it and in addition to  this that person can use the bitcoin from the IPO to further pump the coin to draw in even more people with high volume and rising prices before dumping the coin. So it is no surprise to find these scams high up in the list with big volume and high prices.

fraudulent presale distribution will go on as long as people buy into it obviously.
879  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How in the FUCK are you supposed to know what's legit? on: December 29, 2014, 07:18:07 PM
Seriously...between each community fluffing their own coin and the haters on the "neutral" boards shitting on every coin that's just past it's prime, how are you supposed to know what coin is the most prudent investment?

I understand that "research" is worthwhile, but there's only so much you can learn from a coin's website.

this is bullshit.

I don't even look at shit websites. They do reveal nothing. The website is always shiny. Doing research/due dilligence does NOT mean to look at the stupid website

you go look for these things:

-is it newbe-dev? if yes: stay away if no: make sure the account used wasn't bought
-next you look for premine. Does it have one? Then skip! (do not buy into the lies of funds are needed for xy or won't be accessed because it's all lies)
-IPO/ITO/ICO SKIP!
-If it hasn't a premine  and no presale and wants to say it's a legit and fair coin you then go on the blockexplorer and see if the blocktimes and rewards of  the first few thousand blocks are what they should be - if the blocktimes are faster than what they should have been stay away cuz it's an flashmine/instamine/something fishy
-do not touch coins with short initial distribution aswell. A good coin is mined for months and years not just days - this is important so you have some distribution of the coin wider than just the 5 blokes who have been around for the ninjalaunch and 5 days mining.

-----

so now you have ruled out already 80% of (shiny) altcoins you don't want to touch. Your odds for profit as investor are now greatly increased.

You're welcome.

Logo, promises, graphics, website, roadmap is  worth nothing with a freshly released coin. These things need to be ignored from the getgo because they are only there to lure YOU into buying it. Ignore the glitter. It's all pigs under the lipstick. Do NEVER buy coins based on promises of xy feature or other things beingreleased in the future because most of  the times it doesn't happen. I can not stress enough: DO NOT BUY PROMISES

a coin needs:
-community
-hashrate
-devteam
-real longterm prospects
-moderate to low inflation (pos interest is inflation too) - 5% in a year is fiat-inflation; so it should be below 5% in a year to be healthy.
-good distribution between as many people as possible

coins that do not have the above do go nowhere.

From this angle looking at the website is a waste of time. That's what you do last.
880  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Paycoin (XPY) = Federal Reserve on: December 28, 2014, 02:27:32 PM
So care to explain what's wrong with the Federal Reserve?
Federal Reserve control the US Dollar and GAW control or have half control of Paycoin.
And? Our economy would be fucked without the Federal Reserve

and a sheep can't live without the sheepdog - sure.
