1  Other / Meta / Re: How aren't Bitcointalk ads blocked by ad blockers like ABP ? on: September 19, 2016, 10:19:15 PM
The code of the ad is disguised to look like a post. Ad blockers aren't yet smart enough to tell the difference between a post and an ad on bitcointalk, so the ad blocker can't block the ads without blocking posts too.

3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can keyloggers store your wallet password if you use on-screen keyboard? on: July 12, 2016, 03:45:11 PM
Most anti-virus companies share the same virus definition databases. The different scanners are 99% identical. There is little benefit to running many different ones on the same machine. I recommend you use an anti-virus that has some kind of real-time scanning and doesn't put significant loads on your computer or compromise your privacy by sending significant amounts of data back to the publisher. The Windows defender built into Windows 10 is probably the best really as its extremely lightweight and has real-time scanning. In any case anti-virus protection is reactive rather than proactive, keeping your software up-to-date and not clicking on suspicious links or downloading suspicious files is much more important than an anti-virus.

About your question of on-screen keyboard. That may work against some fairly basic keyloggers, but absolutely will not against more advanced ones. The main thing is to try avoid getting infected with a keylogger in the first place by practicing good security practices. Once your machine is infected then you are kind of screwed as the malware could potentially do anything you can think of and may be almost impossible to detect or remove.

Did you write down the seed somewhere? the app forces you to do that when making the wallet.
6  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: July 04, 2016, 05:10:17 PM
It would not normally make your balance 3x higher, but rakeback, and table starter rakeback were paid yesterday.  Check Cashier, Transactions.

It doesn't show any transactions. Would a transfer from another player show up in transactions in the off chance somebody sent me a tip? Is there a page that shows winnings?

EDIT: it was a tip from another player. It just showed up in cashier. What a nice guy Smiley
7  Economy / Gambling / Re: SwCpoker.eu | No Banking, Only Bitcoin | Bitcoin Poker 2.0 LIVE NOW! on: July 04, 2016, 01:49:23 PM
I created an account yesterday. Won on a freeroll, lost a small amount on a cash game, went to bed and when I woke up my balance was 3x higher. Anyone know why?

You can use the command -zapwallettxes to delete the unconfirmed transaction from your wallet.

To do this on a mac, open up a terminal and run
Code:
bitcoin-qt -zapwallettxes=2
afterwards it's probably a good idea to run
Code:
bitcoin-qt -rescan
(this will take a really long time). After you do this you might have to wait a few hours for the network to completely forget about the txes and then you'll be able to spend them as normal.

Something big is coming!

Either a new game or yet another new design. I'm leaning towards new game.
12  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBet policy around late bets on: June 17, 2016, 01:23:28 AM
Well, the site only takes a commission, so they're not opening themselves up to being scammed. The more bets the better as far as they're concerned. It's the other players who are vulnerable to getting scammed if you accept bets once the result is clear.

Yeah woops I worded that sentence wrong. Perhaps they could still take the commission from the refunded bet.
13  Economy / Gambling / Re: BitBet policy around late bets on: June 17, 2016, 01:06:46 AM
Using the old rule is much clearer and fairer for everyone in my opinion.
What was the old rule?

The "old" rule is in fact still in vigor. We are currently considering changing it,
hence this thread.

The rule in question is described here: https://bitbet.us/faq/#1121

In short, it states that bets received (where "receives" means "transaction is included in a block")
after betting closes or after the resolution event occurs will be considered "donations" to BitBet.

I remember people talking about this. The best policy is not to honor the bet and refund it. Considering it a donation is wrong, as clearly it was intended to be a bet. If you start allowing the bets you'll open up yourself to being scammed.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A technical problem with core wallet on: June 16, 2016, 05:03:37 PM
It has nothing to do with the fees. Please don't post if you don't know what you are talking about. The warning has to do with the CSV fork which is going to deploy soon.

An upcoming fork wouldn't explain why his transactions aren't going through right now before the fork happened. Also IIRC CHECKSEQUENCEVERIFY is a softfork anyway.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A technical problem with core wallet on: June 16, 2016, 04:42:21 PM
Your wallet.dat file should be in Library/Application Support/Bitcoin/ I'd recommend you back this up. It's unlikely upgrading will mess it up, but it's always a good idea to have a backup anyways in case your hard drive dies or PC gets stolen.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: A technical problem with core wallet on: June 16, 2016, 04:19:50 PM
I think the problem is due to the way fees are calculated now due to network congestion. I'm not sure why the notice disappeared. I would recommend you backup your wallet, and upgrade to 0.12.1.

I get a warning in my browser about insecure connection. It's because you have included content served over http on your https page. You should change this:

<link href='http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=Open+Sans|Lato' rel='stylesheet' type='text/css'>

To this:

18  Economy / Gambling / Re: CSCrypto - CSGO Bitcoin Match Betting on: June 16, 2016, 03:43:26 PM
Nice design, but it's a little buggy, I guess it's still under construction. For example it won't let me enter the deposit amount, I must use the arrows to do it. Quite annoying. You can change that by removing the readonly part in bold from from this html tag

Quote
<input aria-valuenow="0" role="spinbutton" autocomplete="off" id="spinner" style="width: 200px;" name="bid" class="form-control ui-spinner-input" readonly="" type="text">
19  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: me lose bitcoins on: June 16, 2016, 03:37:43 PM
Did you make a transaction from the blockchain.info wallet? If you did then your bitcoins are probably in a change address in the new wallet and restoring your armory private keys wont do anything. Check your email for a blockchain.info backup, or try to regain access to that account. If you setup dropbox sync, you will have a backup there.
20  Economy / Gambling / Re: I tried my luck again in yobit dice game..But ended to lose on: June 16, 2016, 03:32:55 PM
I also would like to advise you stop playing dice game on yobit because it is shady and not worth to play there, i never played there because impossible to know about bet result it was fair or not while we have so many provably fair dice sites which providing wonderful services so must move to that dice games.

Totally agree yobit is seriously shady, lots of people are having issues. There are much better options out there.
