PIRATES of Komodo Platform

I posted my long article/blog on medium.com yesterday, covering many things from PIRATE's history.

Please visit this link to read:
https://medium.com/@satindergrewal/pirates-of-komodo-platform-cdc991b424df

Hope you find it informative.

I tried the tor settings in the simplest way with PIRATE blockchain.

Just started Tor Browser as normal and used this command to start PIRATE blockchain:

Quote
./komodod \
-ac_name=PIRATE \
-ac_supply=0 \
-ac_reward=25600000000 \
-ac_halving=77777 \
-ac_private=1 \
-addnode=37.9.62.186 \
-addnode=136.243.102.225 \
-daemon \
-proxy=127.0.0.1:9150   # Connect through TOR SOCKS5 proxy \
-listen   # Accept connections from outside (default: 1 if no -proxy or -connect) \
-listenonion   # Automatically create Tor hidden service (default: 1) \
-maxconnections=25 \
# -onlynet=onion  # Optional. If you only want to connect to peers via Tor network. If enabled no clearnet/internet IPv4/IPv6 addresses will connect as peers.

Tested this on MacOS. It must be exactly same on Linux as well.
For Windows, just use the single line command, and remove the comment line after "#" too.

Remove the command line parameter or change it accordingly.

I just tested PIRATE over TOR in the most simplest and easiest setup way possible. Bit more advanced users can find this help link very useful which describes setting up "bitcoind" with Tor settings:
https://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/70069/how-can-i-setup-bitcoin-to-be-anonymous-with-tor

Linux admins and PIRATE miners can also help by setting up Tor PIRATE nodes, and share on this forum your .onion address and port for your PIRATE peer.
Once we have good amount of .onion based PIRATE peers we can add them to "-addnode=" list, and can have more privacy added to PIRATE.

The Tor support request has been shared with Agama Wallet developers. Let's hope we get Tor Support in Agama Wallet soon. Once done, setting up Tor for a coin or assetchain would be easier.

Hope this post helps some who wants to try running PIRATE over Tor.

Where to next from here?

As PIRATE is a finished project from it's core functionalities and features point of view, what we need now is community's involvement for marketing.

What I suggest:

Please join others in #pirate channel under Komodo Platform Discord: https://komodoplatform.com/discord

Form a team who can manage marketing side of PIRATE.

SHossain and I have added 10,000 PIRATE each to a bounty pool. That means there's a pool of 20,000 PIRATE which can be used for PIRATE related tasks and bounties.

I guess more bounties can be raised as tasks are discussed and decided to work on.

So come join the other pirates in Komodo Platform Discord.  Smiley

Latest News/Update

ALL PIRATE users and miners MUST update your Komodo to latest code as soon as possible (before PIRATE block 77777)

Notarization of private chain worked! http://prt.explorer.dexstats.info/tx/a88b8d34d669549879a095cbf3a83ce5af1d9226c123c18c54178b20f793c4e0
PIRATE can now dPoW :tada:

A test assetchain was created to test if private only assetchain does delayed Proof of Work notarisation as per the new code changes done by jl777, and the tests are successful.

PIRATE notarisation pushed to be added in KMD Notary Nodes.

Hope to have PIRATE blockchain secured with BTC hashrate via KMD soon.

That means PIRATE would be the only single blockchain in industry which will be absolutely private and still BTC equivalent secure to 51% attacks.

Also halving rewards time is updated by 5x.
That means the total supply will be different now, as well as the time of halving will be in months.

This is how it will look like now:

Total supply will be aprox: 199,109,119.99420500

Halving aprox every :
270.0590278 days
8.872575862 months

Total supply will reach in aprox 25.89607116 yrs
By Year 2043+

Seriously, why distribute this zk snark only coin by mining, why not airdrop onto far more people who already here and supporting komodo/supernet, is there a reason why this coin needs to be mined?

Good point, afaik the tech for z-only assetchain is basically complete so an airdrop would create a mature coin with nothing to do other than spread adoption asap

I can't think of any reason this tech needs mining for distribution, security comes from dPoW

Carefuly read the points of notes in first thread.

Airdrop would need to be claimed, recipients sign their zk snark only AC address with their kmd private key to indicate what their KMD balance is on the snapshot date. Bitcore BTX used this method for their bitcoin airdrop, so it requires user action to claim, not automatic like btc:bch

That would work, right? Is the problem you see from notarising?

Still don’t get it?

dPoW is not possible as of now for private Assetchain.
PoS is not possible as funds end up in z address.

U are only left with mining option.

Ok, I saw discussion in discord that sounded like notarization of these private z only assetchains was possible with some modifications, if that isn't correct then any airdrop would have to be less than full coin supply, leaving room for miners. Can't see a problem with kmd holders signing their private AC address to claim an airdrop though, but maybe I'm missing something. The other obvious alternative is allocate a proportion to Supernet from the start, a standard premine, could be 25%, then mine the rest.

If there is a way to distribute one of these z private AC tokens widely to current supporters of the komodo platform it would solve one of the problems all crypto have, adoption, so I think it's  a worthwhile goal.

Yes dukeleto experimenting to see if dPoW is possible or not. There is no news on it. That is why I said “as of now”

Suggest ur idea in discord right now, while u can.

I have edited the OP post and removed Test.

Please figure out as a community what you guys want.

I do not and can not control this assetchain, as I'm neither a miner nor a developer for this assetchain.

Wants to fresh start, do it. wants to make a new assetchain do it.

Don't blame me of what I did not do.

I know you worked hard on komodo for many years, you have a reputation as a hard working contributor who has done a lot to make komodo successful. Getting negative feedback can hurt, but it's honestly given, everyone here dreams of stacking a bag of a future top coin @ fractions of a penny, and then cashing in 50% and making 250k USD, there's nothing wrong with that BUT, in this case with pirate you should not have been telling others not to buy while you were obviously buying big yourself. You probably didn't want to be held responsible in case pirate failed, but in crypto where there are so many scammers everywhere it was a bad look, and can easily be misinterpreted forever, like Dash launch.

Thanks for some nice words.

You do realise the proposal James mentioned, all those PIRATES will solely coming from my pocket which I bought for KMD price of range from 0.001 KMD to 0.00180.

I still agree with u all that discard this chain and start fresh if u want. But that’s not my decision. I can not do anything else to help u guys other than expressing my thoughts on the situation and giving the amount what James is proposing.

I don’t care if my KMD bought PIRATE goes poof!

Just don’t blame me of what it did not do.

Since I was traveling and spending some family time I could not edit the posts on time. Done that today.

DISCLAIMER
I [the original poster / OP] is NOT a developer of PIRATE Assetchain.
I do not advice anyone for PIRATE Assetchain.

NOTE: I can not assure this first thread will be up to date. I highly recommend visiting https://piratechain.com which is being taken care by community on github pages. I'll still try to keep this main original post up to date as the information is provided to me. No promises. Thanks for understanding.

Komodo Platform (https://komodoplatform.com/) has Assetchain parameter to make Z transactions only Assetchain. Means a runtime fork of Zcash code, which ONLY does private transactions. Totally Independent blockchain. There are many combinations of making such chains here: https://bit.ly/2NwOM3J

So far no project used this parameter to make PRIVACY TRANSACTIONS ONLY BLOCKCHAIN. Some community folks made a this Assetchain and named it PIRATE. 😅
So, this PIRATE chain has these interesting facts (so far from my notes):

- Komodo Assetchain
- Independent blockchain
- Privacy/Shielded/z tx only chain. No Transparent transactions possible on PIRATE chain.
- Block time aprox 60 seconds.
- Block halving every 388885 blocks.
   - aprox every 270.0590278 days
   - aprox every 8.872575862 months
- Block reward of 1 satoshi will reach in about 25.89607116 years.
- Total supply of around 200 million. Exactly to be 199,109,119.99420500 by year 2043+
- CryptoConditions contracts not possible on this chain, as it's z tx only chain.
- Can't notarize without special exemptions. Notarisation now possible since this update: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4979549.msg46084487#msg46084487
- Equihash PoW algo blockchain.
- Alternatively can use Verushash PoW, but has to be used for a 100% PoW chain.
- TOR network supported.

Getting Started
To get started with you only need Komodo Platform daemon installed on your machine. You can either download the wallet from Komodo Platform website and use the bundled "komodod" and "komodo-cli" in it, or you can also compile it on your machine.
Installation instructions are available on Komodo Platform documentation website here: https://docs.komodoplatform.com/komodo/install-Komodo-manually.html

Connect to PIRATE blockchain
Command to run PIRATE blockchain and connect with the network:

Code:
./komodod -ac_name=PIRATE -ac_supply=0 -ac_reward=25600000000 -ac_halving=77777 -ac_private=1 -addnode=136.243.102.225

Mine PIRATE blockchain
Use "-gen" and "-genproclimit" to enable mining. Value for "-genproclimit" is the value of how many CPU threads you have on your system.
Code:
./komodod -ac_name=PIRATE -ac_supply=0 -ac_reward=25600000000 -ac_halving=77777 -ac_private=1 -addnode=136.243.102.225 -gen -genproclimit=4

Add seed node IPs
Add seed nodes IP for better network connectivity. Example starting assetchain with 2 seed node IP
Code:
./komodod -ac_name=PIRATE -ac_supply=0 -ac_reward=25600000000 -ac_halving=77777 -ac_private=1 -addnode=136.243.102.225 -addnode=78.47.205.239

Wallet comands

How to enable TOR settings for PIRATE:

Notary Nodes
  • Our focus is on creating a scalable, stable platform so we are using a combination of Cloud and Datacenter based Servers
  • Two proficient die-hard automation fans looking after the servers means better stable service.

What Meshbits Offer
At Meshbits, we mainly think from a developer's point of view and understand where Komodo Platform has room for improvement. Having the capability to do development and create tools and applications to improve the Komodo Platform allows Meshbits team to use it's skillset and funds in the most efficient way possible.

Meshbits will use all the earnings made from Komodo Platform Notary Nodes mining for the following:
  • Scripts and toolset for Developers which will help creating independent projects from scratch using Komodo Platform technologies.
  • Creating Decentralised Applications based on Komodo Platform technologies.
  • Contributing to improve Komodo Platform Infrastructure experience wherever possible. The recent example is the addition of SPV servers which are being voluntarily provided to the Komodo community.
  • Creating & maintenance of Developer oriented documentation for Komodo Platform technologies.
  • Instead of offering percentage of our Notary Nodes to our voters, we use these funds to increase the value of Komodo tokens by dedicating our skillset to improve Komodo Platform. That itself increases the underlying value of all KMD cryptocurrency.

It's the developer made applications and services which put a cryptocurrency in demand, due to their use cases. And Meshbits team has the capability to deliver what we promise.

We hope the Komodo Platform users will chose Meshbits and give us the opportunity to not just give the value to our voters only but to the entire Komodo community.

For more details on what Meshbits is doing and plans to improve on Komodo Platform, please read this blog post from Satinder Grewal:

Posting here again. Please don't forget to vote for me as well. This year I stand as Team Meshbits Smiley.

Thank you  Smiley

Notary Node Elections 2018.
Please Vote for pbca26 (Petr Balashov), our Agama Multicurrecy Wallet dev

Hi,

On behave of pbca26, I'm posting his request to Komodo Platform users who can send their VOTE2018 tokens to cast their vote for Notary Node candidates for 2018.

Here's his text from Komodo Platform Slack:

pbca26 [12:54 AM]
Hello, I would really appreciate your help and support in the elections. Please find my proposal over here https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/NotaryNodes/blob/master/proposals/pbca26.
Instead of airdropping free coins I am planning to use a portion of mined funds towards dev bounties. This is going to be a little incentive for people who would like to help with Agama/AtomicExplorer. Sort of local tip4commit.

btw, was browsing the other day https://tip4commit.com/projects look at the first entry

------------------------------------------

pbca26 (Petr Balashov) is the lead dev of Agama Multicurrency Wallet of Komodo Platform. He's one of the most dedicated dev in our project, and since he's not having any bitcointalk or any social media profile (since he's mostly busy doing dev work on project), I decided to spread his Notary Node proposal.

Please Vote for Petr this Komodo Notary Node Election 2018.
I wish he at least wins 1 spot.
