1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] FACTOM - Introducing Honesty to Record-Keeping on: October 09, 2016, 02:20:38 AM
I just sold the last of my Factom and am going short.  I realize this whale is going to keep Factom down until M2 which seems to be one delay after another.  I bet we don't see M2 this year in fact.

I am billybigpotatoes in polonibox. Check my post history if you like. I'm not anti factom. I haven't got the funds or influence to manipulate the price. This could be quite easily fixed by some comms from the dev team. Which we won't get.

Have you tried contacting them privately?

LOL

Who should I e-mail at Factom to get insider info about when the next partnership is going to be announced?  I'd like to get in on this selective information dissemination!!!

I'm on Windows 7 and when I run FactomD the command prompt opens, lots of text scrolls, stops, scrolls and then the system crashes (I think) and the command window closes.

Is there some log or something I can post so ya'll can see if it's a bug that needs fixing?

Dear all, after an unexpected move of our thread to Altcoins/Announcements we have finally managed to move back to our original location.
We want to make sure that Factom or Factoids are not seen as an altcoin because it is not.
Of course FCT is a tradable token but its intended use is to allow to get access to the Factom network by being converted to Entry Credits.

On the other end Factom currently relies on the Bitcoin blockchain to anchor its data so we believe Project Development is the best place for this thread.
Thanks for your continued support, we are happy to have you with us.

Thanks for updating us on something none of us care about.  Now could you update us on what all of us care about?  The status of milestone 2 development?

Yes, Factoid price can fluctuate, but as they (Factom) say in multiple places, it will come back to equilibrium.  I believe that equilibrium price to be $1.00 based upon my analysis.

Oh really, please share your analysis. I can't wait.

I just reread everything to provide you with detailed analysis and realized I am wrong.  Based upon what Factom has said, FCT can go much higher than $1.00.  I feel like an idiot.

Factom employees appear to have been trying to talk down the price of Factoids for quite some time now.  I've finally listened and sold most of my holdings.

From what I ascertain, a Factoid isn't meant to be worth $100.00.  It is meant to be a lot like Tether and fluctuate mildly around a certain price.  I believe that price is $1.00 per Factoid which is why Factom employees have been talking down the price.  They don't want anyone to get burnt too bad as milestones are reached.
I think when milestone 3 is released this may be the case as inflation begins and factoids will be burnt to control this.

Exactly.  When inflation begins the system self corrects on each end of the spectrum to maintain a near-constant price to make it easy for businesses to budget.  It would look very bad for Factom if the price of Factoids went up to $25.00 and when milestone 3 hits, they crater to $1.00.  This is why I believe they are talking down the price and aren't catering to speculators at all.  They are being proactive.

Remember, Factoids aren't how Factom makes its' money.

A few questions as I work to wrap my head around Factom and determine if I want to invest or not:

1.  Why will 73,000 FCT be created each month?  Why not 75,000 or 50,000?  It seems to me that initially, there will be substantial inflation once the Federated servers go live and at some point, potentially substantial deflation.  Why not just create as many FCT each month as are used to purchase Entry Credits to keep the number of FCT static?

2.  As I understand it, Entry Credit holders will be able to vote for the Federated Servers.  What is to stop me from purchasing a ton of Entry Credits not to use for Entries, but to use to vote my servers and the servers of my friends to Federated status.  What's to stop me from, "Selling" my votes?  Why not have a Darkcoin masternode system where anyone can run a Federated Server who puts up the necessary collateral and they are paid in turn.  More decentralized and less prone to vote stuffing.

3.  As I understand it, X Factoid were sold at the public offering, and Y Factoid are held by Factom Inc or its employees.  Is this correct, and if so, does Factom Inc. hold those tokens or employees?  And what rules are in place for those tokens?  For example, is there a lockup period where they can't be sold and if so, what is the expiration date?  Or are they actively being sold by employees for profit or the company to raise additional funds?

Thank you for your insight as I conduct my due diligence.

Threats

* Darkcoin technology is or will be open source. Clones can therefore spend more of their time focusing on marketing and eating into Darkcoin market share.
* Excessively used by bad actors for illegal purposes may create negative brand association over the medium term which may put off consumer focused merchants
* Launch of new anonymity protocols which offer better anonymity features
* Development team remains small and unable to scale the project
* Early success causing distractions and loss of focus for core team from technical and project development
* Development of Bitcoin sidechains which, when eventually made available, could link anonymity features to bitcoin transactions

Lets set-up a group of 5 and call ourselves team mass adoption  Cool
I think you need to add Vertoe taking over Cachecoin as a threat.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=400389.2300  He has intimate knowledge of DASH, is an excellent developer, and is really angry with Evan.  Those three variables make them a huge threat to DASH in my opinion.

is it possible that some of the "evolution"-coins are being processed/sold using drk?

I think that's exactly what's happening.  Even BTC-E is sketched out by the tainted, non-fungible EvolutionCoins:

If you buy into this pump, you'll be left holding a deflated bag.

and thats mean they trust dark / dash is have a very good anonymity, hahahhaha go to hell monero....
We're up 50% since evo went down earlier this week.... There's a very good chance Kimble and Verto are slowly but surely gobbling up DRK. If they supposedly have 38000 BTC to anonymize though we have a long way to go here.
JL

Are Verto and Vertoe one and the same?

I upgraded my cold wallet to 11.x from 10.x and now it is stuck at 15 weeks behind when trying to sync.  Anyone have any suggestions?

did you delete everything in your AppData/Roaming/Darkcoin folder, except wallet.dat ? Smiley
That fixed it thanks.

I looked on darkcointalk but didn't see a marketing forum.  I hope someone is in charge of marketing and preparing a blitz to get Mega to accept Darkcoin?

Just updated my masternodes.  Thank you for your hard work dev team!

I'm feeling like a motherfucking genius with my DRK investment right about now.

 Cool

Renegademan --- right or wrong, when it comes to Cryptocurrency, the darknet markets are the first adopters.  It happened to bitcoin and they were able to transgress it.  So too will Darkcoin.

Does anyone have a list of VPS providers out there that accept Darkcoin?  I want to setup a couple more masternodes but want to use a different provider from my current one.

Thanks.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Spreadcoin Scam alert!!! on: February 05, 2015, 08:08:00 PM
I don't own any spreadcoin, just darkcoin and bitcoin but the more effort I see from people like you making what are obviously poor arguments, the more I wonder if spreadcoin is doing something very right.

Maybe it is time for me to take a small position.

I need to think this over some more.
