I just recently upgraded my PC and I have an intel i3 6100 without dedicated card (this coming soon as project cars crashes sometimes with Intel HD530 which is integrated) but until I get the dedicated card RX 460 or RX 470 or maybe a GTX 1060 I want to ask you guys is this CPU good enough to mine Ethereum or whatever coin it's profitable to mine with this.
I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit here but soon will upgrade to latest version of Windows 10 released just now in October.
I know from experience that mining with nVidia cards can be hard on the CPU. I had a 970 mining Ethereum and one of the CPU cores was going nearly 100%

This cryptomined fellow is like a Spanish Inquisition. Very aggressive to put as much black PR as he can on claymore... Doesn't look like aggression to me though.. Not even jealousy.. Just facts, that aren't completely true. I went ahead and setup Claymore's 2.5% fee miner and ran it. My 2x480's in my test machine never got over 47 sol per card. (Let it run for an hour). While the Silent army one modified by Nerdralph never got lower than 48!! Even spikes to 56Sol.  Also let it run for an hour to get a better look on the pool results. And yup, those were even higher then the reported sols as well. So basically, Claymore didn't take the silent army kernel and implemented it, he took it, made it slower and put a big ass fee next to it and made all of you people think that you hit the jackpot, haha  And now laughing his ass off watching his "Sols" go up in all those pools  and thinking : "Suckers...."  Edit: I have to admit, after reading the convo between Mrb and Claymore, respect that he admitted his fault and doesn't try to hide it. Kudo's. What about cpu usage on nedralph ft. mrb miner vs. claymore's? any body know how to set fanspeed gpu at ubuntu 16.40?? cause at sensor, speed just run max 30% with temperature 78-79C, make throttling.. i try to modded bios, but not make change.. im appreciated for solutions...
For card 0 : Go to /sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon1 and look up the min and max values for fanspeed for your card (files pwm1_min and pwm1_max). Say, the pwm1_max says 255 and you want to set fanspeed to ~40% Enter these commands, either diretly in a bash shell or in a shell script. export PTH=/sys/class/drm/card0/device/hwmon/hwmon1 cat $PTH/pwm1 sudo bash -c "echo 102 > $PTH/pwm1" cat $PTH/pwm1 The cat command will show you the value before and after you set the speed. Hopefully, you may hear a change in the fanspeed. For other cards locate the corresponding files. Cheers

Strange packaging - zip in a zip file. Stupid Win 8.1 got confused and did not allow me to extract the files. Had to unpack zip on a Win 7 box then transfer unpacked files to my Win 8.1 test rig...
Slow dog 280X mining Eth at 15.5MH/s is now the fastest mining card I have mining ZCash at 45Sol/s. Yiiha RX 470 at 39-43, but on Ubuntu/silentarmy. Thanks for the miner Claymore!

Tried zogminer and it crashes after a while. The miner either just stops or it segfaults. One miner instance per gpu. Mining at flypool. This pool might have an issue? So far havent tried other pools with this miner.

I was following the guide and started the miner. One single 280X. It was mining fine for at 28 S/s for about two hours, then it started to submit invalid shares. I rebooted the rig, and started the miner again and now it doesnt hash - 0 Sol/s. What gives?
may need to turn off the PC to break the network connection and actually clear out the memory i had to turn off two R7 370 PC even after a warm boot it wouldn't hash so i did a cold boot or power off .and that might be why sometimes even a restart scpit won't work because it has to wipe all traces of that session from the web and PC only a cold boot or power off can do or unplug the network cable then reboot it , to me it seems easier to power it off then unplug a nic cable then reboot . Fixed. I switched pool. From flypool to nanopool. Seems flypool went down. Which is an easy thing to do with the Genoil miner on windows. not so with zogminer under Linux. Switching pools and using zogminer requires a reboot... I wish for pool failover switch...

Excellent work, Genoil. My 280X is doing ~ 25 S/s with occasional peak at 30S/s. Running at 1050/1500. GPU usage 76%, temp 55'c in Sapphire Trixx.
EDIT: It seems solution rate is picking up after a while: consistenly over 27S/s now.

Only one way to find out: try it! But that PCIe-riser won't do! You need to get powered risers to supply the GPUs with sufficient power. An 850w PSU will to handle at least 3 GPUs easily.
Yea, we can do it, but you know maybe somebody has experience with running new gpu on slightly older mobo, if it wont work it will be wasted money... But I don't understand why that riser won't work? it just conncet the gpu to the motherboard trough the pcix1 slot and power it for 75W, and the rest of power will go through cable in the first picture, do you think we will need the usb one in the second picture? but I think it should be the same  I have an old MSI socket 775 mobo with the same CPU as you which I use to test-run GPUs. I have tested R9 390s, Nanos, RX470s... In short, running the latest GPUs with that mobo should be no problem. But use powered risers if you intend to connect more than one GPU.

You can use atiflash to both read and write BIOS to the card. To store a copy of the BIOS on your GPU to disk, do the following:
This will save the BIOS on the card to a file named origbios.rom: atiflash -s 0 origbios.rom 0 if your card is in slot 0.
Store this file in a safe place for later, when you need to flash the card back to original BIOS.
Open the file in VBE, make the changes described earlier and save the result with a new name, tweaked.rom Now, you can flash your card with the saved ROM: atiflash -p 0 tweaked.rom.
Then shutdown your computer and restart and you should be good. Now, if your computer doesnt boot, then assume you bricked your card. In that case take a deep breath, flick the switch on the top of the card (you card has dual bios). Restart the comp. When up and running, flick the BIOS switch back, then run atiflash -p 0 origbios.rom to restore card with original BIOS. Then do your trouble shooting from there.
Have never used Deepcool myself, but by the name it sounds like it should do the job :-) I have used Gelid GC Extreme in the past and have been happy with the result.

When core is running at a freq between 1000 and 1100 then the applied voltage is 1050 mV. The measured voltage may be lower in both cases. When I was playing with this a couple of years ago I was using a wattmeter to confirm the effect of the lowered voltage. Another note: If you are struggling with high temperatures, then it may help to reapply the thermal paste on the gpu chip. On the Gigabyte you only have to unscrew 4 screws to separate the fan assembly from the gpu. If you are not sure, there are plenty of good guides on Youtube. Cheers.

I could not quite find voltage in VBE, only wattage, so I was too scared to mess with that.. My card is now reaching 91-94C and I stopped mining since that is most likely way too high. For example at core clock 1100 I select 1050 in the drop down. This means a voltage value of 1.05V when core is running at 1100MHz. Save the BIOS file and flash the card. Oh right! found it, but one thing I want to confirm before going ahead and assigning my voltages, on 1100 by default it shows 1200 VDDC, but max VDDC my GPU gets when mining according to CPUID monitor is 1.094, how come? should I assign 1050 to last two? there are only last two values available to change. So this is what I am going to do, is it correct?  Yes, those figures are good.

My 380X cards hash ETH at around 23MH/s. Sapphires and Asus cards. BIOS mod. They are excellent buys when second hand.

All, If you happen to have the Sapphire RX 470 card you can BIOS mod the core voltage quite easily using a hex editor as described below. Possibly, this method can be used on other cards, too. If you mod your BIOS it is at your own risk. I bear no responsibility. I used HxD to undervolt core of my cards. I found a recipe on overclock.net on Polaris Bios Editing - http://www.overclock.net/t/1604567/lightbox/post/25523158/id/2873391Open the ROM BIOS file retrieved from your card in HxD. Search for string FF 00 01 07 0C 00. Locate the four bytes just preceeding the above string. If the first two bytes = 8D 00 then the next two bytes is the VDDC. Say you want a -75mV undervolt. Then store the value F4 FF in the two bytes. The actual value is FFF4 hex, which is -12 decimal. (-12 x 6.25 = -75) After edit your BIOS should read: 8D 00 F4 FF FF 00 01 07 0C 00 Save the file and open and save it with Polaris BIOS editor to update the checksum. Then flash your card. After reboot you can verify the lowered voltage using the TPO GPU-Z sofware. Good luck!
