In case others need info on the expected CPU temperature, I reached out to support. The answer was 75C to 80C is normal for the CPU when under load.

I have a question about the full units and temperature for the CPU. I recently got my 2nd full unit, and I noticed the CPU temps are quite a bit higher than on my first full unit. Temps on the first fluctuate between 55C to 60C mining on Turbo mode and running the node. For my second full unit temps were originally 85C when running both and 75C when mining only. I discovered the CPU fan was warped like the screws had been tightened too much, but it could have been from the heat. Rotated it by 90 degrees and tightened the screws just enough to remove the warping. That helped and dropped temps a bit. Next, I replaced the fan, and that seemed to resolve the issue initially, but overnight temps are back to the 75C range.

Curious if anyone has suggestions on what to check next as I would prefer to have the CPU in the 55C to 60C range if possible. I have not looked yet to see how the heatsink is attached. I also have a small blower style fan that I might try to fit and position to blow over the heatsink and remove the regular 2507 fan. That would increase the airflow but not sure it would help without a shroud of some type to direct the airflow.

Maybe I just need to reach out to support?

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

What does it mean when a hash unit shows up as 'inactive' and what is the cause?

Any suggestions for troubleshooting reliability of my units? After the latest update to 3.1 I seem to be babysitting my units checking on them multiple times a day to make sure all 4 are working (one full and 3 additional units). At least once per day on average I have to restart the miner or the entire system. Prior to 3.1 the need for attention was much less frequent.

Temps seem fine at 63 to 65C for the units and 65C for the CPU (which I think is good).

I have tried switching to an external powered USB hub instead of running all off the USB ports on the full unit. I read here that helps with reliability. That has made no difference in my case.

Wondering if I should just reimage my SD Card and start from scratch...

Thanks in advance!

My order # is 3604 and is a batch 1 order. I placed my order shortly after going live for orders.
6  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Braiins OS: open-source mining firmware [S9, T1]. New release includes AsicBoost on: March 08, 2021, 09:17:14 PM
I think I have this figured out. My hash boards have the inductors, and from what I can tell that means they should work with the Xilinx controller board. At least it is worth a shot to purchase one and try. Just wanted to get a better feeling for this before I spend the $$$ on ebay.

Thanks!

A question for any who may have done this before. I have a batch 13 S9 12.93 TH/s that came with a C5 control board. Can I simply upgrade to an Xilinx based control board? Is there anything I need to check first to make sure it is compatible with my hash boards?

I found other posts through searching, but some of that info was in conflict, so I wanted to confirm if possible, or at least get more information so I can confirm

My goal is to run my S9 at a lower speed with Braiins OS and thus more efficiently and at a lower noise level that is acceptable to my spouse (since that was the reason I shut it down last summer - the noise my spouse made over how loud the S9 was Smiley ).

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Frodo, that was very helpful. I had read this before but did not think to apply it to the 921 series.

I think I see an issue with one of the hash boards. MW1 is showing much lower numbers of work than the other 3 hash boards. Several single digit numbers, 5 zeros and just low overall when compared to the other hash boards. I pasted this section of my CGMiner API Log below. Hopefully playing with the power supply will lead to a problem diagnosis of either power or hash board.

Code:
MW0[1117 1149 1118 1138 1148 1175 1123 1176 1223 1113 1106 1098 1151 1107 1162 1075 1038 1096 1137 1095 1128 1197 1180 1102 1101 1093]

MW1[320 1133 825 0 316 61 1150 1071 0 0 1115 1 2 1 1107 527 0 548 911 1140 1173 811 979 1004 1192 835]

MW2[1224 845 1180 1099 1174 1168 1206 1156 1167 1167 1005 1044 1060 1082 1027 1108 1097 738 577 1095 1145 1080 1150 1144 1152 1176]

MW3[1213 1129 1249 1168 1165 1143 1089 1093 1082 1192 1174 1134 1158 1144 1123 1092 1104 1182 1195 1087 1172 1136 1194 1229 1246 1071]

I am running the latest controller image from October and the latest MM firmware. In case it matters, the Avalon 9xx controller SD Card had a faulty or incompatible image new out of the box. I could not get into the Advanced mode. I flashed the latest image to this SD-Card, but I did not format it first. It came with two partitions and the Win32DiskImager program completed very quickly, in just 10 or 15 seconds.  I am assuming the 2nd partition remains intact as it was from the factory. Should I remove both partitions first or does that really matter?
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: December 25, 2018, 04:28:45 PM
Yes, I meant 15 THS, or 15000 GHS. Running for 12 hours with he +1 and hash rate is 17896 with DH @ 20%. I am not sure how to intepret the DH number. The hover over help says Device Hardware Error, so not a good thing I imagine.

The power supply is unlike any I have used before. I like it. Very small and pretty quiet. A single 220 volt input but it has two breakout boards like. I made sure to keep each hashboard on the same breakout board. One side is 12.6 volts and the other is 12.8 volts. No adjustments that I can see on the PS. Is there any way to see more detail on the 921 stats down to the hash board level?

I do not have much time today so I will let it run on the +1 for the next day or so and try to improve my setup later.
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AvalonMiner 921 released - 20 TH/s @ 1800W on: December 25, 2018, 01:13:17 PM
Merry Christmas to all.

I received my 921 yesterday and have it setup and running now. Performance is not optimal. At stock settings I get around 15 GHS and DH averages 20%. 11 to 13 GHS and 30% DH if I reduce the power settings. I am using a 2400 watt PS from Parallel Miner. I increased the Voltage Level Offset from the Default: 0 to +1 and now I am getting 18 GHS with DH = 13.774%. Not really the performance what I had hoped for.

Any suggestions on what to try? I am considering trying a different power supply. I can free up two EVGA 1600 watt titaniums to see if that will make a difference. I also have a Blokforge 2000 watt PS but I do not think that is enough to run this alone.

I am behind you @ 6656. Started a chat yesterday and I was told a few more days to ship. It will not be here for Christmas, but I am hoping by New Years. Time will tell.

My order has shipped also.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Acorn M.2 FPGA based GPU Accelerator on: November 05, 2018, 07:31:34 PM
My info comes from lurking on discord. The reason the X2 has USB ports and the X4 does not is the expense of chip required to support 4 M.2 + 4 USB ports is too high. I read on discord it was like $100 for the chip alone that would be required. Thus the USB ports did not make it into the X4.

From the SQRL Update channel on Discord for those that do not follow. Dated 9/24.

Acorn Update: We still have not received our fans and heatsinks for final assembly, other than one tray of samples. We were able to confirm they shipped and are in customs, but have only been given a typical time it takes for them to clear. We have located a source for the Nest chips Broadcom wasn’t able to provide as ordered, and expect those to arrive this week to begin assembly. As soon as completed units are available we will begin shipping. At this time the supplier estimates we received have been inaccurate, so I can’t provide an exact date until components are all in our hands. Thank you for your patience.

I was very pleased with the overall experience.

I placed two orders with SQRL on 7/13. I sent an email requesting a change in the delivery address on 7/13 to the support email address in the order confirmation email and received confirmation of an open ticket within a few minutes. On 7/17 I received a status update email, and then on 7/19 an email confirming my address change had been made and the first order was linked to my account that was created when placing the second order.

If you have issues, make contact and then be patient and let the support process happen. No complaints here.

I am glad you got your order fixed Phil.

While not super speedy with their response, I have found SQRL team to be effective in their dealings with me.

I for one am anxious to see what this product can do for a small home miner.

I placed two orders, one for Acorns (August release) and another for Nests that were available after my first order. No issues with either order and good customer service with a shipping address change request after the fact.

No issues for me.

@Weirdo1 this is from the 1st post on page 1:

"The sticks are shipped to you guys with the stock voltage settings of the pots (which is the flat end of the Pot pointing down). The Core voltage is at around .75v"

I am curious on how to accomplish 6x 1080ti and 6x Acorns on the Asus Prime myself. I have a similar mobo as far as slots and most features in the Asus Maximus Formula X. Of course I know now (after reading the manual - Asus web page did not list my board as compatible) that I could use the ASUS Hyper x16 card which is cheaper than the Acorn Nest options but I was concerned about the PCIe lanes limited to 16 for the 8700k and the motherboard.
