501  Other / Meta / Re: Why is my new account blocked again? I did not do anything! on: January 01, 2015, 10:02:15 AM
In fact, it’s the time lag of Internet causing the duplicate messages to be sent out and my account being reported.

Bullshit.

If I really wanted to send spam messages, as a general rule, I wouldn’t use a high degree acount to send messages. I realize my explanation may not have any effect, though, please kindly give me one more chance.
 Sad

Newbie accounts have severe restrictions on how many pm's and how often they can send, so yes you do need to use a higher ranked account to do it effectively.

You're a spammer, why wouldn't you get banned again?

If you're looking for a specific rule/reason for being banned again, it's ban evasion.

Have you considered the witches were following you and cursed you? Have you seen any gypsies? Have you been losing weight?
504  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] ~ Please *stop* this user on: December 29, 2014, 12:32:45 PM
Yes, the ones that haven't been handled (yet). Sometimes they get lost in a flood of altcoin reports, or foreign language reports, or something else similar.

If posts are done for the sole purpose of getting to the ad post quota, should I report it?

This user https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=177007
needs 50 posts by Dec 30th. He has been almost silent since he posted a lot before the last month deadline, and has started again with 22 posts today.

He has also started thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=906942.0
I believe he knows the answer to the question posed there, since he is marcotheminer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=883261.0)

This user (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=59502) also belonging to him and has the ad deadline on 3rd Jan, so expect him to get activated soon too.

Question is, is this allowed? The posts are quite innocent and can't be considered spam directly.

Depends. While it looks okay on the surface, that sort of pattern can be indicative of either account farming, or someone using multiple accounts for sig ad purposes. Neither one of those is disallowed, but more often than not, as the number of accounts go up, the quality of posting drops, so it's something worth looking into. Report system isn't really ideal for that though, I don't check it that often, I leave it to the moderators generally so I can focus on things moderators can't do. You can pm me with those sorts of reports, I will look into it.

If posts are done for the sole purpose of getting to the ad post quota, should I report it?

Depends on the quality really. Doing 50 or 1000 posts in a day wouldn't be a problem if they were all constructive, but 50 rushed half-assed ones would be. What is or isn't spam is subjective and it depends on the mod who handles the report so you could get a bad one, but you could PM a staff member or BadBear if you're concerned and don't want to risk your accuracy. Up to you.

Is the accuracy statistic updated? I read somewhere it was frozen, but I'm not really sure.
If you have a lot of reports, each additional report is going to have a less of an impact on your accuracy rating.

For example if you have reported 10 reports and 9 of them were accurate your accuracy would be 90% and each one would count for 10%. However if you later reported an additional 90 posts, you would have then reported 100 posts and each post would count as 1% of your total accuracy rating

I understand that, the reason I wasn't quite sure is because I'm still at 100%. I would have thought I would have gotten at least one wrong by now, but I guess not.
Some of your reports are marked as neither good nor bad, for example if the report is handled via PM, or the user is given a warning these are not counted as part of your accuracy rating

In cases like this, the reports should, and usually are marked as handled and do count, though it isn't done automatically.

You should pm me if that's the case. I don't promise an answer, or that I'll tell you what happens, but I will look into it.

Build or buy a file server. Something like this if you're cheap http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16859107052 Or just a large external drive if you're really cheap and don't need much storage.

Or roll your own and go with FreeNAS, Unraid, or one of the other solutions. I made mine out of leftover computer parts and it works great. The original version of it I ran for 2 years had a sempron 140 in it, which is a 2.7 GHz single core so you don't need a beast just to run some hard drives. Though more power helps if you want it to perform other duties like torrents, usenet, Kodi server, transcoding, etc. Upside to a file server is you can offload all those sorts of duties to it, and not have to leave your main computer/laptop on and busy. Also some protection against drive failure.

If theymos could I'm sure he would have by now, if nothing else, getting endless pm's about account recovery is something I'm sure he would love to stop.

Sorry , you are banned from posting or sending personal messages on this forum.
You have been banned by a forum moderator. You may appeal here: banappeals-w6pquw43@theymos.e4ward.com .

is there any solution of this or my accounts banned forever..?

no one answer the last one

Because you edited your post, didn't see that.

I don't want to stop anyone from participating here on the forums, just to stop the spam. To that end, your main account is banned for two weeks, your alternate accounts will remain banned.
510  Other / Meta / Re: i have some questions on: December 23, 2014, 09:43:02 AM
Yes you can have multiple accounts. Doesn't mean you can spam worthless content everywhere.
511  Other / Meta / Re: Lock my account please (RiverBoatBTC) on: December 22, 2014, 01:43:44 PM
He asked me to buy his account.

would you buy my account?

That explains it a bit better than using it for sig campaigns.
512  Other / Meta / Re: Lock my account please (RiverBoatBTC) on: December 22, 2014, 12:33:15 PM
(I unlocked this thread because I don't think it's resolved)

Assuming the real RiverBoatBTC is being honest (as in he isn't faking the hack, which would be easy to do), the most likely situation given the evidence is that the account was and still is compromised, and then the Riverboatbtchacked account was also compromised. He then posted here saying he recovered it to avoid the negative feedback (and that post which he deleted, at least the way he said he recovered it, is a lie as theymos pointed out).

The current holder of the account, after getting several of his trolling posts deleted, probably decided it would be better to just post and make money from sig campaigns, instead of trolling and getting banned and it being deleted anyway.
513  Other / Meta / Re: Spondoolies Spam on: December 21, 2014, 09:50:30 AM
If sig campaigns are allowed, I don't see what's so particularly heinous about this. Targetting sig campaigns would also provide a better ROI, it's by far the worst type of corporate spam here.

I do see how it may become a problem if it becomes common. Though one would think that since a significant majority of their customers come from here they would ultimately want to do what's best for the forum, and not just short term profits, but that's greed for ya. I guess we'll find out.
514  Other / Meta / Re: Can we get nubie jail back please. on: December 20, 2014, 02:03:01 PM
Anything that significantly makes it harder for them, would most likely affect legimitate users more.
515  Other / Meta / Re: DPR subpoena on: December 20, 2014, 12:46:50 AM
https://bitcointalk.org/docs/ulbricht.pdf

I won't post my response because it contains deleted posts which should remain private if at all possible. Probably my response will end up as part of public record, but I'm not going to speed up the process or make it easier for people to find. I already PMed the users affected by this.

Maybe this is the first time Theymos experienced a formal subpoena, but I have trouble believing that this is the first time he experienced a law enforcement inquiry.

This is the first government request/inquiry I've received related to Ulbricht's case. I have received a few other inquiries for other cases.

Is it possible, FBI are buying accounts to avoid a subpoena? It would not surprise me at all.

You don't need to be registered to see posts. The SEC case against Pirate involved forum posts, they had printouts of his thread from what I recall reading from the testimony, they would reference posts and ask if it was his post.
516  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] ~ Please *stop* this user on: December 19, 2014, 09:37:59 AM
Yeah temp bans won't show up there. Some permabans won't either if they were applied the same way as temp bans. Not common but I do sometimes. Sometimes a temp ban will be converted to permanent which will result in that behavior, also may be done that way if I want to put a reason (either for myself/others, or for the user), etc.
517  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] ~ Please *stop* this user on: December 19, 2014, 08:37:39 AM
I'm sorry , but I've reported this users a few day ago ( If I'm not wrong)  :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=374921

But he wasn't banned , so I think his  posts are fine for the forum .

Look at his post history before today and you'll see a suspicious gap exactly a week long in which he wasn't posting. Just saying.  Wink

Modlog is two weeks.

When I look at the modlog, one of the last entries I see is this
Nuke user: N/A in topic #0 by member #402358
This user registered on this forum on 12-Dec-14. Assuming he was nuked immediately afterwards, I am able to see entries for maximum 7 days.

Are there additional pages which I am missing?

Weird, it used to be 2 weeks.
518  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] ~ Please *stop* this user on: December 19, 2014, 07:36:31 AM
Also bans by admins don't always show up in the modlog, depends on how they were banned. I don't think that's intentional though.
519  Other / Meta / Re: [REPORT] ~ Please *stop* this user on: December 19, 2014, 07:27:43 AM
Modlog is two weeks.

Maybe when an user is banned I think it easy to theymos add under the "rank coins" a little word:  "Banned"  ,

What do you think ?

Why do you need to know when someone else is banned?
520  Other / Meta / Re: Why Does My Signature Link Get Removed? on: December 18, 2014, 04:03:28 PM
That's because this is an old thread with the old rules. Signature restrictions were changed. You need to become a Jnr Member to have links in your signature now.

- Newbie: No styling (including links) allowed. Max 50 characters.
- Jr. Member: Links allowed. Max 150 characters.
- Member: Unlimited length.
- Full: Color allowed.
- Sr. Member: Size allowed
- Hero: Background color allowed

But I've seen newbies with links in their signature, but without the www.

Is it allowed?

Then it wasn't a link, just text.
