Yes, is there any news on reclaiming shares? Several issuers have already starting paying out on some of my shares. It looks like many issuers which GBF apparently holds have already got the shareholder lists from Nefario.

Also, as the GBF assets sheet shows that you had invested 1000 btc with ziggy star, have you got any plans to take legal action to try to recover any of this?

I know this must be a lot of work for you, but I think it would be a good time to have an update on the situation as these last few days have thankfully brought some progress at last.

Ditto.
742  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to detect the change output? on: December 14, 2012, 07:26:04 AM
bitcoin-qt tries to randomize the position of the change output, but I believe the code has a flaw...
Ay carumba, how did we not notice that for over two years?

I introduced that bug with the 'sendmany' command two years ago (commit b9d1ed85). This is why programmers should not be trusted to test their own code (I probably carefully tested to make sure the change position looked random when I send to more than one destination, and never tested the degenerate send-to-one case; sigh).

Oh wow, so the change was always the first output if you send bitcoins to 1 address? Awesome find. But yea.. how did we miss it.

The fan is the wrong way around, it shold be blowing down into the components.

I have experence with putting fans on cards, I just wire them into the old fan wires so you get variable fan speed control too.

If you add an LED fan it adds some awsomness factor which helps you sell it. (make a video of it running)

I've just been banned by ebay for 14 days for leaving honest feed back (they claim I'm leaving too much bad feedback and trying to ruin my competitors). It rare I leave a negative feed back ususal I dispute a discount for the cost of fixing the item.I did that about 6 times in a year maybe. One of the feedbacks was for a card I was sent with a bad fan. I have video evidence of all my disputes, to prove they are geniune, but they don't care. Ebay is a just bad joke now!

Sorry to hear about the ban! What % less temp do you get when the fan is facing towards the cards? Good idea with the vids, I had considered that as well, but yea ebay is a bad joke Sad I remember how the page looked back in 96 or something, my how the net has changed.

Well if he is sending it back and you can simply test it. Might be that his system does not like the card or its too fast or not enough power cables for it. I even know that I had to upgrade my psu to a 1200 due to not having enough juice for me system.

At least he is sending it back and can then test it when you get it back if it does not work then it would sound like 1 people who you sent through damaged it. or 2 hes over clocked it and fried it. 3 his system not comparable with the hardware but then again if others are same then might be the card who knows.

Good luck with it anyway hope it works when you get it back and then re sell on. What card is it by the way? Might be interested in it me self

Well, got the card back and sure enough it didn't work! But... there was a heat sink tied to the part just about the card's memory. It was not flat against the memory so the heat sink was touching part of the card... I removed the CONDUCTIVE head sink and sure enough the card started up! Something had been shorting out due to the buyer trying to tie the heat sink to the board! So I have the card back up on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150961817903

I believe this chart leaves out the primary dealer banks which purchase treasuries before turning around and selling them to the Fed...

Thanks! Yes I'll know in a few days. It is an XFX ATI Radeon HD 5870 (HD-587X-ZNDC). Might you want it? If so I can post the results of my test. I did notice in my item description (I was selling a few cards) that the heat sink had come off of the card's memory, but it was working fine. Just thought I'd mention that! It was one of my best cards because I had a huge fan strapped to it so it ran super cool at 400Mhash.

Is it possible to change the login/email address of an account? I am about to delete a domain I don't really use...

Just send email request to info@bitcoin.cz from OLD mailbox and I'll do the change manually.
Thanks! I sent the email.

Simple way I do business on all eBay products I sell.

1 List items as you would normally do.

2 Make another listing for same product with buy now only.

3 Make a listing with no reserve on it and also a buy now option for more than you want for the card and maybe set a reserve on that to depends on how you want to sell.

List in the description that anyone with no feedback or no buys or is very new their bids will be removed unless they are prepaid to buy now get payment first from them or offer the buyer and contact the buyer and ask him for his highest offer if its a reasonable one work with him to make payment to an email address and once confirmed and close it. But this type of selling is not really allowed on ebay. So you could instead ask the person if interested in buying it and is prepared to buy now with his offer you set up the listing email that buyer with the link to buy now.

Myself I tend to just ignore all new feedback members or new people unless they are prepared to buy now some do and others do not bother to cos they where out to cause problems in the first place.

Great idea! Unfortunately one of my XFX cards didn't work for someone who bought 2 other ATIs which work fine. So now I have to process the return.. sigh!

A person can make a claim and say it was not working. I would also provide on selling stuff that all is in perfect working order. If it was perfect working order when sent then you can tell the customer to make a claim to the DHL or parcel company you used to recover for damages caused to goods shipped. This is something that you pay for when sending items, however if buyer claims its broken when he has received and you are 100% sure working when sent then this would be done to the people you sent with and the buyer would have to contact their customer services to file a claim with for recovery or claim of damaged goods to the value of what it was sold for. The company should issue a check to them in the post for the amount the person paid for that item in full. You would also get details and contact off them too.

This is something that is not your fault and something you should not have to deal with.. The only part is for you to ask the customer to return the item and when received a refund will be given. And then you can contact the company who you sent through to file a claim of damaged goods.

Hope you kept a note of the serial number of the item you sent out (or otherwise distinguishable). I've known of people that buy and item, claim it doesn't work, and send back their broken item (that they killed) and keep your working one. eBay is a hive of scammers it seems these days.

Indeed make sure when you send all products keep the serials of them until the customer has confirmed working or not. Some will be very crafty and make a fake claim they get their money back keep the product ship it to where its made on RMA and get a new one shipped to them or a replacement or fix if it was fixed.

I know every trick people can pull on eBay and comes in very handy as I can get some really good deals on eBay if faulty or broken ill take the risk in it but first ask for serial numbers to be provided some don't ask questions others do because they know like me will do a RMA on them and get a brand spanking new one or upgrade just like I done on a few ATI 3850s paid maybe $20 to $30 for them stress tested them and seen they wasn't quite cutting it so sent RMA off manufacture confirmed they where defected 2 to 3 weeks later got replaced for a nice pair of 5870s and current going back on ebay in  a few weeks time as am on the market for new everything. Smiley

Real nice analysis! He is sending the card back and said he didn't think it was damaged in shipping. So we'll see.

I just had a bidder with (1) bid on my LOT of TWO video cards. He hasn't payed yet. But I did get a second chance offer on the next lowest bidder for like $1 less. He accepted the next day.

Put in your listing that it must be payed for within 1 day or else it will be relisted and no longer available to them. If you don't have extra to sell you just have to wait 24 hours then send the second chance offer.

Yea I thought the same... the guy acted honest but you are right it is a potential avenue for fraud. He kept two though and has impeccable feedback but I would feel better if I had the serial, which I don't!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Managed to sell the last 2 cards to apparently reputable people. There was a guy I had to ban even though he was probably legit, just because his feedback score was a bit on the low side I didn't want to take the risk given there had been a 15 day delay already (8 days for ebay refund, 7 days to relist). Sucks for both sellers and buyers.
753  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: ebay scam on selling used cards - the 0 feedback bidder trick on: November 30, 2012, 03:26:06 AM
I dont sell much on ebay so maybe this is a dumb question, but how is this a scam? I also dont mean to sound like a dick here. I understand how this is annoying in the wasted time but as long as you wait on payment before shipping what does the buyer/scammer gain by doing this?

seller sends item first, scammer doesnt pay. doesnt always work though if the seller is smart and waits for payment first , which protects himself from falling hook line and sinker

Another option is that the low feedback people are bidding things up higher than the actual price - they may be selling their own goods and thus discourage people from competing with them.
Or perhaps they have potential buyers that will buy for a higher price... if those deals fall through they don't pay.

Not saying that is what happened but they are possible scenarios, I think the first one is most likely though. I don't know why anyone would ship before payment these days. Now that I stopped 0 feedback users I am getting a few new accounts with only 3-4 feedbacks... suspicious but we'll see.
754  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / ebay scam on selling used cards - the 0 feedback bidder trick on: November 29, 2012, 05:04:45 PM
So 2 weeks ago I put 7 ATI cards up on ebay. 5 sold fine but 2 had highest bidders with 0 feedback. They never paid. I had to wait 4 days to file a dispute with ebay, and then 4 more days for the buyers not to reply, so ebay could refund my selling fees. Now the cards are relisted and selling again. I'm deleting any bids where the user has a 0 feedback score as this seems to be happening again! I've also blocked users with no paypal account from bidding (as much I hate to do that given the nature of paypal!) If someone doesn't pay this time I'll have to do a buy it now to guarantee payment - seems this is a common problem as the ebay forums mention it quite a bit. Thought I'd give everyone a heads up here though.

Has anyone else experienced such issues?
755  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How to detect the change output? on: November 29, 2012, 04:51:50 AM
Given a transaction, what methods exist to detect which of the outputs is most likely to be the change?

How do different clients choose the order of the outputs? Assuming no order information can be used, what kind of other heuristics can be used?

I spent a lot of time implementing coin selection in Armory.  A few of your assumptions will be incorrect if the tx was created with Armory.  Here's how Armory creates transactions:

(1) Coin-selection-evaluation method.   This is a method that scores a coin-selection based on various factors:  How many unique addresses are linked on the input side, the size of the transaction, the required fee, and... the output anonymity of the transaction (explained below).  All factors are scored between 0 (unfavorable) and 1 (favorable).

(2) I generate a dozen deterministic coin selection methods that accommodate different, specific wallet structures.  Those are added to the list. Then I generate some semi-random solutions (deterministic solutions like above, but with some perturbation).

(3) Score all the solutions in part (2) with the eval method in part (1).  Default weights are hard-coded into armoryengine.py, but the user could modify them.  It defines how important each factor is:  most important is not using zero-conf.  Next is whether the transaction can be free (not unrelated to zero-conf).  Then number of input addresses linked.  Then tx priority, tx size, and output anonymity.  However, the user is free to make output anonymity most important (I do!  but only for fun, not because I actually care Smiley).

(4) A new address is retrieved from the wallet, a change TxOut is added to the recipient list, then the recipient list is shuffled.  Transaction is signed and broadcast.

The parts you care about:

(1)  If the transaction is small relative to the wallet balance, it a couple of the deterministic solutions are approx 2x the output value and 3x, so that change and recip are approximately the same or at least same order of magnitude.  It may help clean up dust, it may help anonymity (but no guarantee for either).  But when the tx amount is small relative to the wallet balance, you will frequently get equal or reversed size outputs, in random order.  This violates your assumption that the change address is always smaller.  Even if Armory didn't do it, a wallet with one very large TxOut, must have a large change output if you want to send only a small amount to someone.  So even without Armory's technique, you'll see that assumption violated with any client.

(2) Recipients are always shuffled, though only with python RNG (don't need cryptographic RNG for this Smiley)

(3) The fun part of Armory's "output anonymity" scoring is that it actually takes into account the number of significant digits in both change output and recipient.  Even though (recip, change) = (12.4, 11.8320385) are the same order of magnitude, it's pretty obvious which one is change which is output.  As such, I actually count the number of significant digits, and give the selection a higher score if it's closer, like (12.4, 11.83).  It gets an extra bonus -- a score actually above 1.0 -- if it finds a solution in which the change address has less sigfigs than the recip:  (12.4, 10.0).  i.e. deceptively-sized outputs is favored.

How often does (3) trigger?  I don't know.  I've tested the evaluation code, though, and it definitely scores those solutions higher, but I don't know how often such deceptive solutions are ever found/included.  But if it ever happens, then your assumption about sig figs would be violated, as well.

Awesome.

Okay it seems like we will do a payout Smiley
For anyone unhappy with this contact me and I am sure we can reach some sort of compromise.
To the rest a payout will be done today or tomorrow,
It will indeed be done by calculating each investors total % of the fund and then paying out a proportionate amount to the 430 BTC.
//DeaDTerra

Well, "today or tomorrow" came and went, and no sign of any repayment.

What's happening DeadTerra?
See my post above Smiley
MtGox limit of 200 BTC ^^
I need to wait 24 hours to get out the last 35 Bitcoins.
//DeaDTerra

Sounds good Smiley If they aren't sent by today's end, it would be great if you could post an update explaining why. How many coins did you manage to get out in total? Thanks!
