How about an app, something popular and fun like Tower Defence, Angry Birds or Snood, that brings in some sort of dollar revenue. In return, it gives back some of that revenue as BTC for completing in game challenges. It works as a kind of in game currency for bonuses or upgrades or hats things like that. For the person that doesn't care, BTC can just be like points. They don't need a wallet or anything it's just a score, or a game money for them. For the person that is really into the game, they might want to purchase external BTC to buy more in game upgrades. They could buy these from other players or on the open market. Sound feasible?

Virtex is pretty good.

https://www.cavirtex.com

They take cash deposits into accounts at a few canadian banks, and there are no fees associated with the deposits (at the bank or on their end). The downside is that you dont have the volume that Mt.Gox trades so you end up with a lot of people holding their BTC, waiting for its value to go back up, so you'll likely have to pay quite a bit more than value for your few BTC.

Easy, just move your money from Virtex into BTC. Withdraw your BTC straight into a Mt.Gox deposit address. Trade it as you like, then send it back to Virtex when you want to cash out.

By "access" do you mean at work?
By "stealthy" do you mean so no one will notice?
Someone watches those machines and the power bill. You'll eventually get caught!

I assume you've never worked for the government

1405  Other / Beginners & Help / What is good/bad in relation to Bitcoin? on: October 11, 2011, 03:03:18 AM
I see a lot of people saying Bitcoin will die or fail or Bitcoin will succeed or price fluxuations are good/bad for the Bitcoin economy. In my mind this is a lot like people that talk about global warming being bad for the environment or the planet. What is the "environment" and why should it care what the ambient temperature is? Really I think what most people mean is that global warming is bad for people. Similarly, what is the Bitcoin economy? Why should it be good for Bitcoin that it is worth more USD or that more people use it? Bitcoin is just some lines of code, a protocol. Why should this Bitcoin entity care about anything? It's like ascribing feelings to a rock or a giant ball of nickel with some green stuff on the surface. Really, what people want is what is good for themselves. They say that they care about the economy, but that's just an abstract way of saying that they want personal profit.

Yeah, but if they set up an account first, it wouldn't be a real gift. Nobody wants to open a Christmas present that says "hey go online and register at this website and I will electronically give you a gift", no they want a mother effing Nintendo 64 in their hands. Maybe I need some of those real bitcoins.

I am surprised that nobody has taken the time to post this yet. Since it is obvious which words were added and which were in the original photo (by context and by font mismatch), it was trivial to dig up the original document. It was a promotional poster from ComicCon 2007 made to look like some sort of government document. Here is a version I ripped from some guys flickr page:

1408  Other / Beginners & Help / Best way to send BTC as a gift? on: October 08, 2011, 04:53:38 AM
Supposing I want to send some Bitcoins to a family member that is not particularly computerly inclined, but has a history of donating money to organizations cut off from Paypal. What would be the best way to go about it? I am thinking of some sort of small flash drive with a bitcoin client and some money already loaded on it. Is there any client that doesn't require any installation? The other option I am thinking of is instawallet, but then I am basically just sending them a link... any suggestions?
