Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we compute the loss of the banks?
|
on: March 22, 2013, 12:28:32 PM
|
There is no loss, money just go from one bank account to another and Bitcoins from one adress to another. The amount of money in banks stay the same.
But I'm asking you that because a friend ask me who is loosing the profit we make? That was a very easy question to answer, who ever sold YOU the coins is the one who lost out on the profit that you gained.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Has some large dumping started
|
on: March 20, 2013, 06:20:11 PM

Looking at the order book history through btccharts.com, it looks like that large buy order that was at $30 it's the money that's currently being used to buy up the price and fill in the bids at $60+. As I said yesterday(?), the money on the bids side is getting exhausted now. Probably won't be long before the dramatic and long term correction occurs.
I was starting to worry about the price going up so fast again but now we can all rest easy now that proudhon has spoken. 70 here we come!!!

Economy / Speculation / Re: is the goal of the manipulators to make the price boring?
|
on: March 15, 2013, 06:14:00 PM

Pump and dump is the main tool of the manipulator in this shallow market. They must be taking time out
Look on the bright side: stable price is good for real business. No merchant is going to adopt bitcoin if the price is flying about.
Better in the long run for it to stabilize around the mid 40s for a couple of weeks. We've seen quite a bit of action in the last month, with adoptions, press, glitch, etc. So a nice calm would be nice and build the confidence we need for Bitcoin to move forward.
^ +1 ^ for both of the above posts. The fork that happened the other day was probably a good thing as it not only reminded developers that there are still a few issues that need to be taken care in future updates as Bitcoin evolves but also slowed down the run away price increase which was well on its way to spiking to high to fast which would have probably ended up crashing down pretty hard. Now that it has stabilized in the mid 40's it has a better chance of building a could base before it moves up higher.

Economy / Speculation / Re: So, are we going up or down?
|
on: March 07, 2013, 06:38:07 PM

Stuck between 40-45 for the past 10 hours
I want to heard the voodoo from people... what's the next move? UP or DOWN?
Yes. Omnidirectional price movement Where are all the trolls to predict crashes and millionaires overnight when you need them? You may think being a troll is all fun like sitting on the beach drinking beer but it is actually hard work so they are taking the rest of the week off so they can be rested up and ready for the next move up.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Silver crashed twice at $50 why is bitcoin different?
|
on: March 07, 2013, 06:33:01 PM
|
Bitcoin has uses that Silver does not, I am sure it is safe to say that most people on here especially those early adopters have access to Paypal and credit cards but there are MANY people out there who do not and probably never will which means they have a very hard time buying through the Internet.
Well bitcoin is a new way for those shut out of the traditional banking system to have a way to shop online, obviously there is a long way to go in terms of more businesses accepting Bitcoins but as they do more people will seek to acquire bitcoins which in turn will increase demand and most likely price.
Is Bitcoin mostly an investment type of thing now? I think it is safe to say yes but that is starting to change and as it does more demand usually translates into higher values for Bitcoins.

Economy / Economics / Re: Is the current bubble harmful to Bitcoin?
|
on: March 07, 2013, 06:14:39 PM
|
If it stays here for a while and then crashes down to 20ish and the new businesses that have started excepting bitcoin take a financial hit then YES it will be harmful and may prevent other companies who are watching to see how things go before they decide to get on board by accepting bits. If it just floats around the 35-45 price for a while before it goes back up then it should not hurt bits reputation.
