1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Pool-X.eu - 0% fee PPLNS, 2 LTC to blockfinders on: November 06, 2011, 01:34:29 PM
an update: even while not mining the pool stats page (which i have bookmarked..) is crashing 3/4 times i try to load it

other webpages are working fine so i doubt its anything on my end and its only just started behaving this way after you added that online support...
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Pool-X.eu - 0% fee PPLNS, 2 LTC to blockfinders on: November 06, 2011, 09:11:46 AM
While i support the idea of having an online 'support' facility i question the true need for it.
and more importantly question the implementation of it.. that little popup is about as annoying as adverts on web pages, and what with me mining and trying to browse the internet at the same time.. i became unable to use your website because the plugin trying to render the little popup kept hanging  Roll Eyes (for a better example, after 3 plugin crashes, it crashed my browser completely)

Is there no way to simply put a traditional link to it or something? im sure i wont be the only one foolish enough to keep trying to use my computer while its mining at maximum capacity lol
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Pool-X.eu 1MH/s - 0% fee, free withdraws, 1 LTC To blockfinders on: November 01, 2011, 01:29:12 PM
happy to see more blockfinder bonus  Grin first time ive ever had my miners actually find a block and i got bonus for it! sweet

may seem like a silly question but is there no top 30 lifetime shares page? its really cool to see the unpaid/recent rounds contributors and all but im kinda curious who has been with the pool longest etc
of all the other pools i have been involved in its been fun to watch my lifetime shares gradually put me in the top 100 miners etc making me feel like i am an integral part of the pool "community" but with this one it takes me all day to reach the top 30 and then the round resets and im down to 57 or something again lol

just some food for thought  Wink

ok downloaded the fixed version and it runs properly on the 32 bit netbook now, getting 0.55 average so its probably 0.1 higher on average than it was, not as amazing as the big core 2 duo boost but its an improvement  Grin

plus the gui is pretty nice, and im sure the system is more stable now (before i could not browse web pages, now its running faster and i can.. lol)
definately worthy of setting some donation %  Wink

oh and thx for the note on the 32bit one it shuld be fixed

thats awesome, i shall give it a try shortly Smiley

i have an intel core 2 duo that used to get 1.9kh/s for each core/thread and its running at 4.0kh/s with that new miner  Shocked
gotta get that 0.5kh/s netbook up to a full 1.0 now  Cool
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [CLOSED-SORRY] Litecoin Pool 0% Fee.Percentage of Donations to good causes. on: October 30, 2011, 09:44:35 PM
Thought the pool was going to be really good and something I could be proud of, but I guess I need to do something else.

it still can be  Smiley just consider this is one of those nasty speedhumps they seem to put along every road nowadays.. unpleasant.. slows you down.. but you can soon get back on track

once you have had some time to rest and come to terms with whats happened, try contacting the miners via email/here as im sure most will happily return any wrongly awarded funds
presumably the database recorded the amount of shares everyone put into the glitchy blocks so its not impossible to trace records and work out who should have got what, and who got more than they should have etc
most importantly you can figure out how much they should pay back (if they are honest folk...)

dont lose hope, you arent the only one who wants this pool to succeed
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Pool-X.eu - Litecoin - 0% fee, free withdraws, 2 LTC To blockfinders on: October 30, 2011, 09:39:22 PM
mm not to be nitpicking or anything, just something to throw in the probably rather long to do list for you Wink

under the shockingly beautiful graph of the blocks stats page (the bit showing previous 100 blocks) the reward column shouldnt be showing "est LTC" and "LTC" on blocks which i put in no shares (because i just joined hehe)

very easy to fix and by no means a priority Smiley just something to polish the already very perfected pool site you have created

edit - just noticed on the pool stats page you have a previous 10 blocks table where the issue above is fixed, so its definitely a copy paste job lol ^_^
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Pool-X.eu - Litecoin - 0% fee, free withdraws, 2 LTC To blockfinders on: October 30, 2011, 09:22:21 PM
ok seriously what magic did you guys weave into the gui miner  Shocked

its seriously DOUBLED my hash rate compared to the popular minerd.exe lol
just a damn shame i cant make it work on my netbook (doesnt support 64 bit..) and the x86 version kills the miner as soon as i click start for reasons unknown

development/support thread for the guiminer would be awesome  Grin

edit - just to point out this was a relevant post here, the miner is linked to from the pool as reccomended miner and is unnamed so i have nowhere else to ask this
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New Litecoin Pool 0% Fee. Percentage of Donations to good causes. on: October 30, 2011, 09:16:07 PM
i must have come along at an unlucky time then, sorry if i seemed impatient..

dont worry about the fractional amount, it set my balance (0 since i was new lol) into the negative, if the relatively small amount of shares i put in put it positive you can put that towards reimbursing those who lost real amounts

i think you should not throw in the towel just yet, you did have a good thing going here and since you are being honest and trying to fix the problem i think most would give you another chance

perhaps naming and shaming those who cashed out the obviously higher than should of been payments might help  Wink

you should definately try and get to the bottom of exactly what happened and WHY because paying out thousands instead of 50 is kinda suspicious

best of luck
Wolf

Don't like, switching pools.

ditto

admin not responded on thread or to PMs, will hang around long enough to cash out my fractional amounts or cry about being scammed... least i have not been with the pool long enough to lose much  Roll Eyes

just signed up as i find myself in need of a backup pool for my backup pool (long story..)

love the pirate theme  Grin fed to the sharks my first slave was ahaha
we shall see if in a few days this pool is good enough to be my primary pool, sure looks to be a good find!
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANNOUNCE] New Litecoin Pool 0% Fee. Percentage of Donations to good causes. on: October 30, 2011, 08:08:17 PM
tried to send you a PM not sure if it went through as im still newbie to forum...

-0.47039161089352 LTC:   Adjustment for block 478 (as 1747.59999999 Litecoins too much were initially paid out throughout the pool for this block).

considering i only joined the pool AFTER block 478 was found (i think we were on round 489 or something when i joined..) i feel pretty much ripped off to be hit with that......
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trust No One on: October 30, 2011, 08:03:24 PM
Well i shall just throw in a few more ideas to the paranoia pot:

encryption is not foolproof, there are a number of attacks that can beat encryption (i would like to see if its possible to steal the (un)encrypted data right out of the memory while the computer is on and client running..)

also please consider that most of the methods used to break encryption keys utilize the exact same hardware we tend to mine on (powerful GPUs) to significantly reduce the time taken to crack a key...
attacking a 10 character alphanumeric password with the average 1gh/s mining rig is more than feasible especially considering most miners tend to already leave the machine on 24/7...

Dont trust anyone, even yourself!
Expect to be ripped off and scammed at every turn, that way you at least saw it coming  Wink
14  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Trojan Wallet stealer be careful on: October 30, 2011, 07:42:12 PM
i run a fully encrypted operating system and all storage drives via truecrypt

obviously i am not secure at all.. lol basically no matter how you secure something there is always a chance of it being stolen or destroyed

i think that when you have enough bitcoins to be worth serious money you should follow the age old rule: dont put all your eggs in one basket.
make several secured wallets and distribute the bitcoins around them, encrypt them, and please please back them up!! a little bit of data corruption to do with anything encrypted can quickly become a nightmare!
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin prices falling! on: October 30, 2011, 07:25:33 PM
yeah past few days it seems to be creeping up again... i think most people that were gonna jump ship have done so already

mining and holding here also Smiley

btw i think the comment about only illegal stuff to buy is nonsense, there are some really good looking precious metals for sale among the masses of mining equipment you can buy with BTC

the one bad thing is now bitcoin prices have dropped low its frustratingly far away for me to be able to afford even a tiny bit of silver bar just from my mining lol
thats why this is a hobby and not an investment (although i admittedly turned away from nvidia cards thanks to btc)
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whitelist Requests (Want out of here?) on: October 30, 2011, 07:14:37 PM
well i guess i shall throw my reasoning in here:

i joined the forum to get support from the admins of a mining pool (miningpool.com) specifically to do with litecoins

having just joined the pool and started mining i see i appear to have been hit with a -0.4 ltc debt because of an error with the pools system a number of blocks before i joined...Huh

have i been scammed? is it an honest mistake? who knows.. but i cant find the answer any other way than contacting the person in charge or others in the pool, which i cant do while stuck in the newbie group

if a kind moderator lets me out of newbieland i would be most grateful, if not i guess i will make meaningless comments/posts around the newbie section like everyone else
