581  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your opinion about the decline in BTC prices in 2018 on: October 03, 2018, 09:29:09 AM
here i want to hear your opinion all about the decline in crypto prices in 2018, of course i also have an opinion about the decline in BTC prices especially, why in 2018 is the price of BTC decreasing

2018 was really speculated to be a year that will see a very good value in terms of price for bitcoin which will off course have a positive effect on the cryptocurrency in general because of the bullish run of bitcoin in 2017. The reason that cryptos didn't record such positive impact was because bitcoin too was really not bullish.

i don't know, we saw bitcoin have its bubble popped and reach stability months ago while there has been no more drops ever since with the price staying above $6k for good.
but at the same time we continued seeing the altcoins decline and set a new low every month!
so i wouldn't really connect the cryptos to bitcoin.
582  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: To hell with regulations and government interference on: October 03, 2018, 09:14:51 AM
The main goal of electronic money is anonymity.

not at all!
the main goal of electronic money is to be electronic! there are many different types of electronic money from the electronic banking and other online wallets such as Paypal to the cryptocurrencies that we have and there are dozens of sub categories.
only some of them focus on anonymity and not all of them and it certainly is not the main goal of the whole thing.
583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop comparing ETH with BTC!!!!!!!! on: October 03, 2018, 08:56:47 AM
In my opinion, this comparison does not affect much. Because both are electronic money, formed and developed to keep up with modern technology. But compared to the trend and growth potential, I think investors will take advantage of the BTC. Most of the big investors in the world have realized that BTC has the most potential, so they invest in many, creating confidence for customers feel safer. Therefore, BTC is known more.

no ethereum is not electronic "money" it is a token used for creation of smart contracts if you read its paper. on the other hand bitcoin is an electronic "money". so the comparison in its heart is wrong.
but i agree that it doesn't affect anything. it is just annoying to keep reading the same thing over and over from bag holders.
584  Economy / Economics / Re: ETF, Bitcoin and the risk of manipulation with derivates on: October 01, 2018, 10:18:52 AM
On the other hand, people start to worry about manipulation with financial instruments but completely forget that the market has always been subject to manipulation, especially in the early days.

i think a part of this fear is about the big players entering the market. we are talking about wall street veterans who only care about making money who also have a lot of experience in the market and on top of that have access to media to manipulate the price if they wish to.
we have seen small examples before but if it becomes a serious thing we may end up with a terrible market at least for a year where they can pump and dump bitcoin!
585  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $OCN is up almost 400% this past month... And still going... on: October 01, 2018, 10:09:14 AM
there are a lot of altcoins that get pumped that big every now and then. for example about 2 weeks ago i saw an altcoin that got pumped about 850% and gave a lot of traders a lot of profit.

there really ins't any reasons for pumps apart from some pumping groups trying to make profit while the market, specifically the coins on top, are in red.
586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Your destiny is in your hands on: October 01, 2018, 09:58:31 AM
- Whenever you want to invest or promote a project, do not be in haste, but take your time to analyze it.
- If you want to sell the coin you have, do ensure you think about it many times, so that you will not later blame yourself for selling.

i like the way you put it.
just to expand on these two points i want to add that there are two steps in an investment while you trade. the first is the buying and the second is selling (obviously) but some people always mess up both steps.
they buy out of FOMO and because of hype and sell out of fear and after they lose a lot of money!

what they should have is a clear plan. a plan as to when to buy the coins and which one and then also a plan to when to sell based on analysis.
587  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hodl or sell right now ? on: October 01, 2018, 09:47:44 AM
when the market trend is like this meaning at the bottom without moving up or down it is hard to predict it anymore. but also at the same time we know that price has already dropped nearly 70% and it is time for a reverse correction of all this drop and price to reverse the pattern and start rising back up again.
so buying now has a lower risk.
588  Economy / Speculation / Re: Santa Green in BER months (October to December) on: October 01, 2018, 09:43:14 AM
GPU? dang your about 4 years too late, or found yourself in the wrong category.. maybe you're talking about altcoins
Yeah he's definitely talking about eth mining which really isn't ideal since that is mostly going asic now too, GPUs are nice for mining whatever is hot and selling it for Bitcoin, it's just a bit more working jumping on whats currently hot.

i do laugh at the ethereum crowd. worried about ASIC (strong hashpower) so want to go to a zero cost user-sign algo(ripe for a takeover). or go to GPU(weak hash) algo

thing about GPU vs ASIC is all the coins that go GPU and alter the algo to prevent asics, is that then AMD(ATi) rule the planet debate replaces ASIC manufacturers rul the planet.. sam argument just different company.

even with PoS people are already forming syndicates and combining coins to have more 'stake' to.. basically making stake pools to get more chances of winning rewards and then sharing out the proceeds. so even PoS has the same complaints as those saying PoW is bad..
the down side of PoS is that theres no cost to sign a block and so the zero cost does not form a baseline of support to help give a coin a good price support bottomline.which is why PoW coins fair better when they have good hashpower backing them

when it comes to altcoins they have always been focusing on how to play with people's emotions more so that they can create a bigger hype to pump their coin and make a bigger profit.
the thing about mining and ASICs have been a clear example.

there is a big drama going on with bitcoin that has been saying for years that bitcoin mining is centralized and they say it is so because of China and ASICs. so as a result when an altcoin wants to advertise they say they are "ASIC resistant" which is a big lie and is only said to pump the coin! it started from 2010 when LTC was created.
589  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Doesn't Have to Be Perfect on: October 01, 2018, 09:28:15 AM
first of all being perfect is always the goal, we don't have to ever reach it because it is impossible. but secondly you should not confuse the technology not being perfect with the projects that are build on top of it. for example there are a lot of altcoins with security holes in them that they created themselves only because they wanted to be different!
it doesn't mean technology is imperfect, it means they messed up!
590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A small indication of mainstream adoption on: September 29, 2018, 10:03:34 AM
lol you can walk the streets every day and should the name of your altcoin that you are bag holding but that wouldn't make it "adopted". which is more like the case here. advertising some altcoin or altcoin related services even, is not something that can change anything about adoption of any kind.

adoption requires incentive. and that incentive comes when there is some utility there they can use. for example people are adopting bitcoin because they want the decentralization.
591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Ethereum vanish? on: September 29, 2018, 09:52:22 AM
eventually yes because of all the problems that its design has by nature and many of these problems are not even solvable. but it won't be anytime soon so don't worry about that. ETH is still one of the biggest pumping coins of our time and there are still a lot of newbies who are willing to put their money on this bet.
592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Future of ETH? on: September 29, 2018, 09:46:27 AM
It's been a long time since Ethereum is performing below it's standards
your imagination of "standard" is wrong. otherwise if you stop being caught up in the hype and start looking at the reality that has been going on with the pump and dump altcoin you can see that ETH has been performing well according to pump and dumps. it got pumped from $50 to $1500 and then got dumped from $1500 to $150 which is a lot higher than it should have gone down to.

Quote
from past 3 months wherein ethereum is struggling to survive.
it is not just past 3 months. the dump has been going on for 9 months
and ETH has been struggling to survive much longer than that, you just didn't notice it because of the pump.
593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What "event" will be the nail in the coffin for your Bitcoin goals? on: September 29, 2018, 09:36:59 AM
I think the nail in the coffin moment for me will be if I found out that some government agency developed Bitcoin to take control of people's wealth. It has happened before that some agencies created honey traps to trace money derived from criminal activities and they even infiltrated Tor exit nodes.

I entered Crypto currencies, because it gave me some financial privacy <not for criminal use>, so if I found out that this was only a smoke screen, then I would definitely exit the scene.   Angry

that may already be happening with certain altcoins such as Ripple and Ethereum and Dash and are the most centralized and somewhat shady coins  that are controlled and managed by centralized groups of people but that can not happen with bitcoin as long as we keep it decentralized like it is today.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Scarcity doesn't always mean value on: September 29, 2018, 09:29:40 AM
Scarcity and demand will drive up the price but neither will work on its own. The only place for low volume shitcoins is a pump and dump trading exchange like yobit, Low supply makes the price easy to manipulate

what happens on Yobit and makes it easy to manipulate the market and pump those shitcoins is low "Volume" not supply. which is required for an easy pump and dump but also makes the profit making by the pumpers that much harder.
595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Don't be like Bill on: September 28, 2018, 10:26:02 AM
... never sell at loss....

this is the main reason why we currently have people who have lost more than 90% of their investment. first because they were newbies who had no idea how investment works and second because people like you have been encouraging them to continue holding even though they were losing money!
596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What should I do now on: September 28, 2018, 10:20:14 AM
YOU should sell immediately. and it has nothing to do with whether it is good or bad to hold cryptocurrencies. i say you must sell because you don't know what to do. and when making an investment the first thing to do is to have a clear plan which you obviously do not have and also you lack experience and knowledge required to be successful in this market.
so the best course of action is to sell and get out and not to come back unless you educate yourself enough and gain enough experience that you can answer the question you just asked on your own.
597  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: KYC to airdrops is it good? on: September 28, 2018, 10:14:53 AM
KYC which is practically you giving your documents and personal information to a third party is never a good thing and it always violates your privacy. so at the very least you want that third party to be someone who you can trust with your personal information.
an unknown ICO creator who can be literary anybody from a 10 year old kid to a hacker in North Korea is not someone who you want to trust with your personal information.
598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dude buys sandwich with Lightning Network on: September 28, 2018, 09:54:16 AM
it is good to see that despite all the drama that has been going on, the lightning network development and adoption is still pretty much ongoing in a strong manner.
i am counting the days for the time when the first exchange starts opening up its first LN channel and allows bitcoin deposits through LN.
599  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin scams on: September 28, 2018, 09:47:32 AM
I have never been scamed but I know that people are very naive and they will beleive everything you tell them or show them, especialy if they think they might get or earn something in a easy way.
Despite so huge number of scams they still are not cautios and suspicious enough. We need more awareness and education campaigns, ignorance is exactly something that scamers are counting on.
Don't ever forget, if something is too good to be true, it isn't!

i think a big part of this is because there are a lot of kids around in cryptocurrency market. for example with all the free giveaways of small amounts such as "bounties" and "airdrops" a lot of kids were introduced to this market. then they eventually want more money but they don't know how to do it so they fall for these scams which are obvious to us but maybe not to them.
600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How often do you check CoinMarketCap website? on: September 25, 2018, 10:24:37 AM
if you find yourself checking a site like coinmarketcap.com or even your exchange account without doing anything, just checking the prices then it is a very clear sign of you having no idea what you are supposed to do in the altcoin market.
because what you are doing is that you have bought a lottery ticket in name of investment and now keep checking to see if you have won or not but keep seeing your money shrink.
