2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Double Spending Issues Because of Mempool's reducing on: January 26, 2018, 08:47:15 PM
Hello Bitcoin gurus. I always come here to find answers to my problems after some unsuccessful search in google.

Now that the mempool is being crushed. I have problem with several transactions.

Case #1:
I needed to send 0.625927 BTC to wallet 3FcJ5qSBExencX5eowGJwrPBnfKX41FrXK (a ledger wallet generated address)
First I sent the BTC from my GreenAddress wallet thinking being a segwit address would be quicker and cheaper, it wasnt faster enough. That txid is 4821084d640e48ee247160620aedbe9b5605621486270bd570032c94368d6966
It was stuck so I believed it will be abadoned in time.

Then I sent the other 0.625927 BTC from Copay, my former trust wallet. I used a higher fee. The txid is f11436dd3a7de43d09e362bf3fbb3ea56b14c14c81007831e96d9588bb9a84c1
This TX was successful and the BTC were transfered on 01/01/18

My surprise is that when the mempool gets down the first tx is executed too. I asked the owner of the wallet 3FcJ5qSBExencX5eowGJwrPBnfKX41FrXK if he received another payment and he told me checked on his ledger wallet GUI and he received it but it was tagged as double spending and then the print screen he sent me only show one TX.

I checked a block explorer and you can see the two txs. What is happening how can he confirm the other tx ? he is currently choosing in the ledger the Segwit chain.

Case #2:
Im trying to send some BTC from BitcoinCore segwit address to another segwit address in GreenAddress.
I tried several times and because of mempool full I had to abandon transaction.
Turns out abandon a tx is not cancel it, from all of the abandoned the one with higher fee is the one that got confirmed. NOT the first one in being into a block. Can someone explain me that?
Could I receive BTC from a wallet and check +6 confirmations and then lose those BTC because the same BTC were sent to another wallet with a high fee but "abandoned"
The issue is that I checked the receiver wallet and the TX in a block explorer and I can see they are there but in GreenAddress the TX is tagged as double spend and not added to my total wallet funds. What can I do ?

I'll go to translate bitcoin core 0.16.x while I get some replies, thanks in advance...

4  Bitcoin / Mining support / Antminer S5 Not Mining but Local Work increasing on: December 21, 2017, 08:43:07 PM
Hello guys, I have an Antminer S5 that is not mining even when the local work is increasing and the chip are all "ooooo" , the pools are alive but wont detect the miner (worker cuz im with kano.is)

Everything seems to be ok,

Here you can see the kernel log ,
https://pastebin.com/XLpfQfRm

it has a few error but I can see they are "normal" . This is a suposely Antminer S5 mining and the kernel log has the same errors https://support.myrig.com/hc/en-us/articles/205463055-Good-Kernel-Log-Example

Maybe has something to do with the FPGA error? I dont know what does that means exactly.

Feel free to ask me any question about it,

as always thank you community I can always count with you all.
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Segwit Transaction Stucked for a Month - Amazing eh? on: December 14, 2017, 08:59:35 AM
Hello all,

With Bitcoin Core... you'll want to try this:

Quote
  • Start Bitcoin Core with the command-line option -walletbroadcast=0. On Linux, you might be able to just run bitcoin-qt -walletbroadcast=0, depending on how your current startup script works. On Windows: find the shortcut for Bitcoin Core on your desktop or start menu; right click it and choose "properties"; add -walletbroadcast=0 to the end of "target", so for example "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" would become "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt.exe" -walletbroadcast=0; click "Apply"; use that specific shortcut to start Bitcoin Core.
  • On the Transactions tab, right click the stuck transaction and choose "abandon transaction". Warning: Even though the transaction is listed as abandoned, it can still go through. People have in the past lost money by abandoning a transaction, resending a separate replacement transaction, and then having both transactions go through. The following steps are designed to replace the abandoned transaction in a way which will prevent this sort of double payment from happening.

Using on linux
Code:
bitcoin-qt -walletbroadcast=0
and then right click on the TX and selecting "Abandon transaction" WORKED!

Thanks for the info.

Regards,
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Segwit Transaction Stucked for a Month - Amazing eh? on: December 10, 2017, 11:55:45 AM

... What was your mistake exactly?

Im not sure if the fee is too low or not. Segwit transactions are supposed to go with lower fees. But since there is no GUI support yet, the fee is not calculated (I guess you used the command line).

Try -zapwalletttxes to get the money back into your wallet.

I used the GUI. My mistake was to check the option Pay only the required fee of XXXX and then the amount was like 580 satochis, I thought "this is a nice amount per sat" but turns out this was the total fee amount. So that was my mistake, I misunderstood the message.

I understand the command -zapwalletttxes is to remove all wallet transactions that are not in the blockchain

I would like the optional RBF checkbox to be checked by default. That would be useful.

oh and FWIW I went on holidays 3 weeks and turned my node (where the wallet is) off the whole 3 weeks, I returned and still there unconfirmed in the mempool...

Im running my node on linux, I will try abandon transaction with broadcastwallet=0 and let you know the results.

thanks for the recommendations.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Segwit Transaction Stucked for a Month - Amazing eh? on: December 09, 2017, 07:51:06 PM
Hi there, I did my first SegWit transaction and due to a mistake and a not so clear GUI in Bitcoin Core I have a transaction stucked for a month.

I wonder if someone can explain how can this happen. In the past I've had low fees transaction stucked for about 3 days to one week, nothing uncommon I dont complain but this is outrageous.

10  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [25+PH] KanoPool kano.is NO FEE TIL 2018 PPLNS US,DE,SG,JP,NL,NYA 🐈 on: November 29, 2017, 10:10:31 AM
The JP node has been losing network connection on and off over the last few hours.
The provider says there's a DDoS going at their servers.

The most annoying part about it is that I'm in Tokyo and still losing connection directly to it/can't connect to it.

As usual, you should have a backup to one of the other nodes - and from Japan that would probably be best to use stratum.kano.is as the backup.

Dear Kano, hope you are doing well in Japan.

I would like to ask you to include this transaction into the next block.

2d73dfb6b98f4dcd066134081a670cda09304b268f0a5d7ca451ed8ed6e7d940

It is stuck since 4 weeks ago.

Thanks in advance,

On this time and age of cryptocurrencies all over the world there is about thousands of new tokens spread everywhere.
It is about time we have a place to sell tokens with what is called microtransactions. An interesting term I'll looking forward at the future.
Good luck guys!

Great to see us back to "normal".
I like the biggish payments these days  Grin

Will the gone hashpower come back in a while kano?

Thanks and MINE ON!

Well I'm still processing 60 days of data (it's completed more than 21 days and 35 blocks from the start of September)
Once I complete that I'll report the results here (and to the large miners that left) and I guess we'll see if they come back or not.

I'm also going to have a zero-fee month coming soon to see if that will bring on board more miners.
More miners means less variance - and that's what's been the aim this year.
Seems like bad luck popped it's head up and destroyed that idea Tongue

The fact that we already have less than half the fees of slush seems to not bother anyone mining there, so the only way I can lower that is to temporarily have no fees Tongue
Obviously I'll announce things when they are ready ...

I read about the data processing.
And I am a bit impressed that even in this situation you have a real concept for going through this and checking every possible thing
and make it transparent to the community!! I really appreciate this! Very cool and very reliable!

I can't imagine why we're not getting much more miners in our game.

Your plan with the zero fee month sounds good.
But maybe the problem is that the only way to get more miners here is to move them from another pool.
That's very difficult if the other pools are running fine.

Maybe you should do a bit more advertisement.  Roll Eyes  Grin
A bright shiny website in front with some pool facts or FAQ etc. maybe will bring some miners too.
For Login and config is the actual website absolutly fine and very straight.
But you know... it's all about the look and feel when a prospective new miner enters the website.

Another fact is that I searched last few days where i possibly could buy another miner (in germany or without getting trouble with duty or so).
But seems all sellers are out of stock. On ebay it's too expensive. So adding hashpower by ourselfs is even if you have space left a difficult job.

I prefer a raw basic website but fully functional and currently the website is pretty good. A lot of info that other pools wont publish. I am very happy with Kano pool is very transparent as you said.

I'd love to see the results of the processed data Cheesy

20  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: TOR Nodes on: November 04, 2017, 11:32:20 AM
Hi all, I am sorry to say this but I will take down my TOR Raspnode. I dont see any incoming connection so that bothers me. It has always error connecting Socks5()
So I decided to disable TOR network compatibility and move to a regular pruned node.
