Chelsea's winning against Brighton in the EFL Cup was really unexpected for me considering their recent performance. The goal was even scored by Jackson who has been in terrible shape for a long time. Can this be some motivation for Chelsea to start playing better from now on? I really doubt that honestly.

We need to see them winning some games in the Premier League as well. Otherwise this season is even likely to be worse than the previous one as it seems. Chelsea don't deserve to be in this place now. They have spent a lot of money so they should get efficiency from these players at a high level.

The look of the standings is really interesting right now. Because Girona are the leader.  Grin  They managed to beat Villarreal away as well lastly and this helped them maintain their lead. Such a dedication really as they managed to make a comeback despite Villarreal's getting 1-0 ahead home first.

However I don't know how much they can resist against teams like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. If they managed to get some good amount of points even from this toughest games then I will be really curious about their potential placement at the end of the season.  Smiley

I have started to see rumours regarding Manchester United and Oblak. It seems like they are interested in bringing him to the team. However I believe this is going to be very difficult for them. He has already a contract until 2028 with the team. He must have signed this contract newly which shows his loyalty to his team.
I don't believe this rumor, and the only reason why we're even discussing this is because Andre Onana has had a shaky/bad start to the season, if he started as well as people prolly expected, i don't think there would be any rumors regarding Manchester United being interested in Jan Oblak. Having said that, Jan Oblak seems to be very happy in Athletico Madrid, so he prolly wouldn't be interested in leaving, right now Manchester United have to give Onana all the support he needs so he can get back to his best, he kept a clean sheet against Burnley, so let us hope he picks up from there.

Honestly I would really like to see Onana improving his performance. To do this first he needs to improve his concentration level. Because the mistakes he makes recently are really unbelievable and they are costing the Red Devils a lot. Onana isn't a bad goalkeeper normally otherwise. We all must have watched how he played last season.

Onana was praised in the Champions League with his saves at Inter. He can do this again. If we witness this then there wouldn't be any need for Manchester United to find a new goalkeeper. It isn't easy to bring a really quality goalkeeper to the team these days.

My honest opinion on this Bayern Munich's championship chance topic is that they wouldn't have played exactly the same if they didn't sign Kane. I can see that Tuchel's system is working really well. He needed time to apply his plans for the team and he took advantage of the summer really good.

However we just can't overlook Kane's contribution level to the team right now. Despite playing in the same country and even for the same team for so many years he didn't have any problem with adaptation.

His contribution with goals and assists is incredible now and he has a big role in these very strong victories so far.  Smiley

I think the same as you. We can't unsee Kane's high effort. His statistics so far are 8 goals, 4 assists in 7 games. This is just an extra performance by him. It is like he was counting the days to join Bayern Munich to continue from where left.  Grin  My doubts about him related to adapting to the team were gone quickly.

Kane is already one of the crucial players in the squad. Therefore without him Bayern Munich would be much less productive. I like the way Tuchel's doing his job as well. Just as you said he needed some time given to him. We already knew how quality manager he was.

The opening game on this week is going to be Aston Villa - Brighton. I think this is a candidate to be one of the lovely games of the week. Because both sides have made a really solid start this season. Especially Brighton are near unstoppable because they only lost to West Ham at the beginning. They are following Manchester City - Liverpool duo right behind which is impressive.

Aston Villa are also doing just fine now. After losing to Liverpool they maintained a strong mental and they are on a winning streak of two games. When it comes to the head-to-heads between Aston Villa and Brighton there is an interesting statistics. Aston Villa beat them in their last 4 official games. They are slightly favoured for the win now too. Maybe I can add Aston Villa's double chance to my parlay.  Smiley

I see different information on different websites about Vinicius Junior. But it seems like he might be really back by the Las Palmas game. Real Madrid really need him as soon as possible. It would be better if he is fit enough to play against Las Palmas. But he must definitely be fully fit until the Napoli game.

It is going to be the toughest challenge for Real Madrid in the group stage. You know what Atletico Madrid did to them recently. They really need Vinicius' extra contribution to deal with big opponents in a stronger way. When he is back I assume we would watch him beside Rodrygo.

Arda Guler has been really unlucky since the day he joined Real Madrid. He recovered from his injury a short time ago first. Ancelotti also made a statement on this topic and praised his talent. However a very short time after this statement Arda Guler got injured once again. He is expected to be out for 3-4 weeks unfortunately.  Sad

Ancelotti also believes in his talent and it seems like he wants to use him at the earliest opportunity. I hope he doesn't get injured once again after recovering. This kind of talented young players must maintain their health as good as possible to prevent their career from dropping down too much.

Mourinho is a good coach and I doubt anyone could say the opposite but he fails to succeed with different teams in the latest years since his tactics are well studied by his opponent and he doesn't have much to add to pick the first places without the necessary players that he always asks for and his demands were never fully fulfilled by stuff. Roma will play tomorrow vs Torino in an away game, we will see if they could score many goals or not.
Otherwise Juve were 1 goal behind Sassuolo for like 10 minutes before they were able to get a draw.. and Milan picked 3 points from Verona after a quick goal from Leao.

Mourinho is a wonderful manager but he just can't make the expected improvement in the Serie A. I appreciated their effort in European competitions for two years of course. But this isn't enough for Roma at all. They need to qualify for the Champions League one way or another. If they can't finish the league in top 4 which seems likely for this season considering their current effort then they will need to win the Europa League title.

They reached the finale in the Europa League in the previous season. It isn't impossible for them to repeat that as long as they maintain the same mentality there. I hope they make it to the Champions League somehow otherwise I expect Mourinho to get sacked.

Tottenham have left a really tough game behind in a good way. They got what they wanted and they could have even won the game if they didn't waste their goal opportunities after it became 2-2. Son is really amazing now and his solid form is very useful for getting advantageous results. He is making up for Kane's scoring productivity a lot.

Next time they have another tough game against Liverpool but this time it is going to be home. If Tottenham manage to win the game then I will be even more expectant from them to fight for the league title after a long time. But while Liverpool are in great shape it will be really difficult.

The group stage hasn't started well for Inter I'm afraid. Real Sociedad made really big difficulties for them. At least Inter didn't lose maybe but they could have played better. But I guess there won't still be a big problem for Inter during the group stage. They should be able to qualify from the group anyway and probably as the leader.

Benfica are technically another favourite to advance to the next stage but they started horrible. That red card ruined the plans and Salzburg benefited from it great. Right now the group is in really interesting situation so it might end pretty close in points at the end as well.

Such a wonderful race weekend for Verstappen! But his performance made the race really boring to watch for me. I at least waited for some competition for other places like podium. But there wasn't any for that either. Ferrari drivers should have been better in this Grand Prix. If they improved the competition level a little more then the race would have been more exciting.

I was really disappointed with Perez's performance. He was like his mind was on something else. Because he didn't seem he was concentrated on the race. His very bad performance led to his retiring the car. But still Red Bull became the champion constructor thanks to Verstappen's high effort.

I think this result might change something about Atletico Madrid's future in this season. I mean this isn't a thing they regularly do. They beat Real Madrid despite most of their past games. They did it against a strong Real Madrid at the same time. I don't know what Simeone did but maybe Atletico Madrid can be more successful in the La Liga this season.

I really appreciated this big victory by them despite losing to Valencia by a big score and getting a draw against Lazio by a last minute goal. They really need this kind of results in big games in the La Liga if they want to be competitive for the league title.

I hope Newcastle don't turn into a team like Leicester later. I mean it would be lovely to see Newcastle also winning the Premier League title one day.  Grin  However if they also turn into a team struggling to cling to the Premier League and even drop down to the Championship then it would be really disappointing.

But there is a difference between Newcastle and Leicester. Newcastle are currently one of the richest teams in Europe. Therefore they would find a way to build even a more solid team and prevent such probability at a high rate.

Brighton are playing unlike the expectations so far. Their losing to AEK home by a score like 3-2 was really shocking to me. Because they were the second biggest title contender according to the odds. It didn't look like they cared about the Europa League game as much as a Premier League game.

I think they shouldn't do this. Because they don't have any reason to do it in the first place. How many times have they joined the Champions League in their history in the end? They don't have the luxury of caring much less about the Europa League so I hope they improve this effort.

He has already a contract until 2028 with the team. He must have signed this contract newly which shows his loyalty to his team.

Besides Atletico Madrid would also not like to lose one of their most valuable players. Oblak is still a great goalkeeper. I don't see any reason for Oblak to choose to join Manchester United now either. Atletico Madrid are in much better condition now.

Leverkusen are still unstoppable. While even Bayern Munich can stop them in Allianz Arena I wouldn't have expected Heidenheim to be the one to do that of course. That was exactly what happened. Maybe Heidenheim scored an equalizer first but the rest was just a destruction by Leverkusen.  Grin

Boniface is also hard to stop these days. He scored 2 more goals and look ambitious for top scorers. However Guirassy is dominating this table currently. If he goes on like this for a long time even Kane can have difficulties in competing with him. But I don't think Guirassy can be more consistent than Kane in general of the season.

Chelsea are really continuing to be more disappointing every week. I don't know when they will wake up from this nightmare. There are memes about Chelsea all over the internet rightfully. Pochettino has really nothing to do about this situation as it seems. I really don't understand this. There have been so much money spent and they have a decent manager as well but still no good result.

I started to think that this is related to the management of the whole team rather than the players or manager. Maybe Boehly is doing something wrong and this is still causing Chelsea to be unsuccessful.

I don't know what is really going on with Napoli currently. They made another point loss this time against Bologna away. Osimhen's missing that penalty was devastating for him and the team both. There is a significant drop in his performance level at the same time. It is really interesting to see this change in the team suddenly.

I mean they started the season really good but here we are. They can't win a game in the Serie A for three weeks. They struggled against Braga in the Champions League as well. Rudi Garcia must be under pressure even more now.

The Madrid derby was way different than I expected honestly. Because I was hoping to see Real Madrid winning. But Atletico Madrid really gave them a football lesson today. I don't mean that their statistics were better but they were much more efficient when it comes to taking advantage of the opportunities.

Morata is really on fire these days. He scored 2 goals in the derby and played a huge role in the victory. Besides I wonder why Ancelotti made a change like that in the lineup. I mean we watched Bellingham on the front and Modric played behind Bellingham - Rodrygo duo. I thought he wouldn't change that area in this game as well.

Everton won in an unexpected game for me honestly. Because Brentford were the favourite side against Everton home by a serious gap of odds. But it was even a comfortable win by 3-1 for Everton. This is so much important for them after a streak without a win for four weeks. But can they maintain a good series?

Their next two games against Luton and Bournemouth in the league. These are both winnable games considering who they beat recently. Therefore maybe they might have a winning streak of three games the best case scenario. But right after that Liverpool would destroy them in Anfield anyway.
