Some of you might have Namespaces that need to be renewed. Download the NanoWallet update with the renew Namespaces option in Services to renew your namespaces. https://www.nem.io/install.html

We should have a big update of NanoWallet in Feb that looks much nicer.

Hi, can I get a Slack invite? Seems like the link in the OP isn't working.

You can PM jabo38 your email and he can invite you to Slack, or you can join Telegram via the new link in the OP.  The content is the same.

Any date when the iOS NEM mobile app will be released?

I just met a friend of mine who runs the app on is Android phone and showed me. I very like it and can not await to have the app on my iPhone.

Go to the official Forum, maybe you can join the official Beta Test.

NEM Android app is on the Playstore.  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.nem.nac.mainnet

iOS app is now ready to be submitted to Apple.  We are waiting on getting the company information to set up a business account.

Xem is tokens, Xem this is not crypto money?

XEM is more like a cryptocurrency.  NEM is the blockchain platform.

XEM is also a mosaic asset, but anybody can create their own mosaic asset on NEM.  So NEM doesn't just have one cryptocurrency, it has as many as you want.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't catapult basically a rebuild of mijin with more features added, written in C++
I'm all for this coin and hope it does well, but maybe you guys can answer some questions since we've got some downtime in here.

Mijin came out, and while it was a tech advancement and a great thing, it failed to raise much interest or movement in the market.
So why are expectations sky high when it comes to the release of catapult? Do you guys really think it will send NEM into the stratosphere once that feature is released?
What makes you all think that, other than hope that this coin does well?

Not trying to troll, I'm genuinely interested in the responses as to WHY you all think we will see some serious movement and widespread acceptance.
NEM is technically superior to everything out there, of that there is no doubt. But the market doesn't always go with the superior product..

Taking things a step further, let's take a look at the top 10 coins.
The total market cap for the top 10 is: 14,070,943,757. So 14 billion and change. This will increase as the years pass, but nobody knows by how much or even if it's a certainty that it will increase.

Let's say that NEM muscles it's way back up to it's previous high of $115 million market cap, NEM value $0.01, and it would be at #5 marketcap.
Now let's say that NEM pushes it's way up to 3rd place, with a cap of $240 million. NEM value, $0.02.
Now NEM moves up to 2nd place, and manages a 1 Billion dollar market cap like ether had. NEM value, $0.11

It's gonna take a tremendous amount of time and new money into crypto for that to happen, because the others in the top 10 will most likely still be there.

So I'm really curious how far you guys think catapult will "catapult" NEM when it comes to marketcap and price, and just how you think it'll get there.

Mijin is doing quite well and is a good product.  I would happily test it in a side-by-side test with any other private chain out there right now and am pretty sure Mijin will win. But... the type of people that are looking into Mijin don't post on BTT and can't announce any building of any projects until they do so publicly as the are publicly traded companies and that affects stock prices and therefore insider trading laws apply.  They also don't want to post on places like open interent forums exactly what they are doing and tip off their competitors.  These types of deals takes seasons or even years to make from initial contact to final rollout.  The team is working really hard everyday, so it is completely impossible to tell the effect Mijin will have on the blockchain sphere right now, or its effect to NEM.

When Catapult launches later next year, it is very possible it will be the only great private chain.  The things the devs have thought about and developed are so far ahead of other platforms IMO that I haven't seen anybody thinking that far ahead.  Also, while getting 1000's of tx per second is hard, it is not the only hard thing.  That is just one bottleneck in a ledger solution and the devs are addressing others too.  This is why somebody might claim their ledger is fast but in reality, it couldn't be used in the real world.

I'm not going to tell you that XEM will be worth x amount on anyday, because I can't simply know that, but I can say I still hold all my XEM since launch plus more that I bought, and I think it will be worth more in the future.  NEM has 4 full time devs that are really good and know what they are doing.  Most other platforms have maybe 1-2 and some part-timers, some of which don't really know what they are doing.  There is a lot of work being done on NEM and when you see real businesses wanting a real blockchain to build on, we will be one of the best choices they have.

Hi guys, I’m happy to announce that NEM Marketing in partnership with Mijin is taking a big leap and becoming a sponsor of the Inside Fintech 2016 is Seoul! This is a major yearly conference with all the big players in Korea in attendance.

We will have a have a larger than average booth. We will also have our name and logo on stage, and a full-page add in the information pamphlet handed out to people as they come in.

Additionally, Rene will be giving a 45-minute talk on Apostille and a demonstration of it.

While everyone is “talking” about how the blockchain can do interesting things, we will be demonstrating it.

In the days ahead, we are working to get NanoWallet updated with additional Apostille functions and a new look.

We look forward to updating you with more information as it becomes available.

A couple of misspelled words that need fixing.

Thanks.  BTT is fixed.

The spreadsheet for the website was already fixed, but needs to be prepared to be pushed so not sure when that change will take effect.

Hello, I started to use NEM today. I installed it and I like the platform. I am wondering, is there a NEM faucet to request some free coins to play around with?

The faucet is currently down as lots of people were trying to drain it for everything they could instead of leaving it for people like you to test NEM.  :-(

We are testing a lowering of fees on the Testnet.  At some point that will fork into the mainnet, at which point we will bring the faucet back online.

If you just want to play around with the tech, you can try to Nano wallet on the testnet.  It is free and no programs to install.  Just unzip the file and click "start.html". https://forum.nem.io/t/nano-wallet-beta-1-0-10-testnet/2791/8

An idea regarding marketing
Meanwhile XEM-price allows to mint silver/goldcoins.
If we reactivate silvercoin (goldcoin) issue, coins should have a great design. Coins should come in a coin case (may be transparent) and include an amount of XEM (in paperwallet or similar).

These coins can be offered to the community but we can also try to sell it via Ebay-Amazon etc.
This means we have worldwide platforms to promote XEM with nearly no costs for ads/marketing and make XEM more popular.
Any comments?

The funds exist for a silver coin project, but it would be quite a large undertaking and NEM doesn't have anybody right now that has a lot of free time as all the marketers are working on other projects.  If we can find somebody to manage the project, then it might come to life.

Is there any way to verify authenticity of xem installer? Some digital signature, or hashsum?

http://bob.nem.ninja/ has the signature

NEM's Twitter account is https://twitter.com/NEMofficial.  There is another Twitter account pretending to be NEM https://twitter.com/NEMofficiaI.  Those two accounts look identical.  The difference is the real Twitter account uses small "L" as the last character and the fake one uses a capital "i".

The fake Twitter account has offered users for discounts on XEM in private messages.  Please do not respond or make any deals.

The real NEM team NEVER makes offers via Twitter, Facebook, or any other social media. In the past when we did so, it was publicly announced on the forum.

hard forks for the sake of tech upgrade are fine, most everyone can agree to it and there are no competing chains.  hardforks for political reasons are just asking to split the network.

the key will be learning how to hardfork bitcoin in a way that is done for the tech and not for the politics.
17  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you still have time to reach the 21 BTC goal? on: August 30, 2016, 02:28:10 PM
As long as the Bitcoin exist, we still have time to achieve and reach that amount  which is 21BTC. For sure every member in bitcoin world have their own goal to achieve the amount of bitcoin that we want to get it. But with that amount 21btc I think 2 years is enough to achieve it.

that is right but you don't have forever to get that much bitcoin, as you can see from the history so far, the price has beer rising up and higher so you can't really say it will stay at the same price. so in the future it becomes harder to have 21BTC as it becomes more expensive

I feel 21 bitcoin is very big amount. Honestly for me that not everyone same, looking for bitcoin and achieve 21 bitcoin is very hard. Because i not too master in trading, I think if i can be a professional trader i will earn bitcoin More easy rather than nowadays.

21 is a lot.  there is always 2.1

Any link to the nano wallet?

NCC, iOS/Android, Lightwallet and Nano wallets compared
http://free.userboard.net/t106-topic

Nice chart.  There will also be a NEMpay app coming soon.

iOS and Android apps both have releases on the main net and test net right now that are being tested.  hopefully soon, the main net apps will go to Apple and Google's app stores.

Nano wallet has been released in the NEM Telegram chat group for testing on the testnet. It also works on the main net but for the time being has that part disabled.
