201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: March 31, 2015, 12:44:59 AM

Oh my goodness, I am slow!

I only just figured out the BitcoinSanDiego sock puppet's angle.

Someone wants to talk themselves into a chunk of the premine, either talking themselves into a job or a chance to grab a chunk and disappear into the woodwork.

I am far too trusting, explaining the other day that CannabisCoin already has an inhouse developer in Esotericizm when that isn't the interest at all.

D'oh!

How come you call me a sock puppet? That's uncalled for.  Last time I checked, I did not call you names.  I also did not try to "talk [myself] into a chunk of the premine".  That is a paranoid assumption.

My question to the CANN team is regarding the usage of pre-mine for hiring a core developer to bring codebase up to date.  If someone or Esotericizm was working on a codebase update, we would see some changes to the Github or a discussion of potential changes but obviously it's not happening.

Forget it.  Done getting harassed by b4zz4 for having a conversation here.  As for CANN team, I support what you guys are doing and just trying to give positive feedback.

Has OP KryptoKash disappeared?  No information about 1.0.3 updates or this "marketing plan"

I never disappear... Information will be released as we progress. We have a process we are working on.
Edit: I am currently working on paper work (corp. formation and a few other things which we have to do before we can take the next step).

There you are! WB

Just to notice : cannabiscoin has halved yesterday so now the reward per block is 6.5625 cann and global hasrate is less than 2 Ghash/s

Any word on if the cann developers hired a core dev to fix their protocol and make some updates to core?

Global hashrates and difficulty are getting much lower: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cann/#@diff

Still not sure why the dev is sitting on the pre-mine and not using it to pay a developer

I would agree, changing core development to secure from attack and opening the communication lines to developers is key at this point.

static const int64 MAX_MONEY = 420000000 * COIN;

Max supply for this coin is still hardcoded at 420,000,000 in the source code for those less tech savy to understand the source code.

The publics opinion on reddit is, max supply is 106,000,000 coins, and here stated by the developer Maximum coins is 92,000,000,  what is it truly? Well to be frank its 420,000,000 at this point and these things are not being addressed... why?

With the difficulty dropping, if continued, there is serious room for a malicious hard fork and a huge amount of coins "pre-mined" out of thin air with hard forked blocks.

It wouldn't really matter what the MAX_MONEY is since the block rewards and block times ultimately dictate the supply.  However, dropping difficulty and potential for 51% attack will certainly become a reality now that X11 ASICs on track to start hitting the market - nobody thought this would happen but now that Darkcoin (DASH) has become so valuable, there's a need for X11 ASICs and they are already being used as we speak

Awesome.

Do you guys host Bitcoin and/or Cryptocurrency meetups?

You might consider it!

Well, what good is a cryptocurrency unless you have applications and platforms to use.  An android wallet and a QT is not good enough.

Easy answer to this nonsense Chuckles: THIS crypto currency, unlike so many others, does exactly what it set out to do - facilitate getting mmj to patients. It requires exactly zero further core development to do what it does and what it set out to do.

Beyond which, CannabisCoin already has esotericizm to code any required changes at any time, why waste funds importing someone else to do "something" which is not required? That would simply be foolish.

"Development" to no good purpose is an absurd distraction that has already killed lots of hopeful coins that had no focus.

About the only thing CannabisCoin needs for now is a crowd chant around the stadium:

Canndy! Canndy! Canndy!
YES WE CANN!

Canndy! Canndy! Canndy!
YES WE CANN!

Canndy! Canndy! Canndy!
YES WE CANN!

Don't lose focus, the crops are coming.

Hmm... yes... hype, hype, hype.  Pump, pump, pump... yes we cann...  because who really cares about technical innovation anyways?!?

Well, so far I've made .15 BTC trading this coin in the last 24 hours.  Thanks to the whales that are running this market, it's pretty easy to scam their bots out of BTC.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] CannabisCoin [CANN][X11][Official][2] Developments & Discussions on: March 27, 2015, 09:19:05 AM
Price doubled in 2 weeks.  That's not a failure, that's a success at dramatically raising market capitalization.  With 4/20 right around the corner, things have never looked better.

Roadmap to success:

1) Publicly advertise and Hire competent Bitcoin/crypto core developer using funds from 5,000,000+ CANN premine to bring in core dev

2) 4/20 Event at Herbal Wellness - even if just for Bitcoin and CANN education

3) Bounties, bounties, bounties.  Using some of 5,000,000+ premine, offer development bounties for iOS wallet, new faucet, and more.

Meh...

The coin is rock solid, which is all it needs to be to serve its function of facilitating getting medical marijuana to patients at a reasonable price. It will get a major boost if (when) Arizona goes recreational. Even more so if it spreads to out-of-state dispensaries.

Faucet? Who cares? I don't think they do anything for coins anymore. iOS wallet, nice for people with iphones I guess but I don't know what proportion of mmj patients that would involve, I suspect not large.

A decision will have to be made sooner or later about subsidy. Whether that involves switching to multi-algo, merged mining or simply staking I do not know or particularly care, as long as it keeps the block chain moving reliably.

What will be really great is a means to directly exchange fiat for CANN, preferably at least with debit card access. Whether that is what's in mind for mjpay or some other gateway it is a key component to making all this work conveniently and well.

As it is CannabisCoin has the ability to be transferred and stored, what else does it need? So, to my way of thinking at least, no coin development beyond an adjustment to subsidy is needed, wanted or even vaguely desirable.

Sorry to seem disagreeable but I just don't see "development" for novelty's sake having any value whatsoever.

Well, what good is a cryptocurrency unless you have applications and platforms to use.  An android wallet and a QT is not good enough.

Scratch the faucet... but at least be willing to use the pre-mine for bounties and development.

I'll reiterate these points to break through the sound-barrier on this forum:

Is there any development of the CANN core?  Updates to latest Bitcoin codebase, or any additional development going on?  I'm not talking about Cannabis growing - I am talking about technical development of codebase/applications.

I agree, price must rise ... or value must rise.  Now is the time for big promotion by developer... use the 5,000,000+ remaining premine to hire a core developer. https://github.com/cannabiscoindev/cannabiscoin420

Here's what happened to the difficulty on the price spikes in October 2014.  This will happen again with price rise.  Fortunately, coin is X11 and ASICs arrived AFTER most of the coins have been mined Cheesy

Hey Dev, did you order an x11 ASIC yet?  These are just in time for securing CANN blockchain !!!

I think that there is no direct connection between Bitcoin and Cann, there are some connections, which obviously works indirectly. Currently I just think so on the basis of observations - everyday I do is see what the conclusions. Well, actually it's just, I'm just proving a point that now the award will be in 2 times less the price of the coin will inevitably go up, or just about the coin will start to forget... but it Cann, lots of people lost money, many have invested, it will not forget, because the price up. Whales can manipulate and push the price down, but it will be temporary. I would recommend now the bot to buy large amounts and sell 3-5 days, see if I was right. If you buy the bot a total of 20-40 Btc. maybe more, he'll start to push the price up and will be 3 Ksat.

Ah... you are talking about the mining block subsidy halving on 3/29.

Coin supply is already 90 million though, so reduced minting will really not create a squeeze in supply. Not convinced reduced subsidy will affect the price at all.

The downside could be that a subsidy of 6.5625 CANN/block is not sufficient to make mining worthwhile, miners move on to something else and blockchain troubles ensue. Not saying that will happen, only that the subsidy issue will have to be addressed if the exchange rate for CANN does not rise.

Is there any development of the CANN core?  Updates to latest Bitcoin codebase, or any additional development going on?  I'm not talking about Cannabis growing - I am talking about technical development of codebase/applications.

212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [OFFICIAL THREAD] FACTOM - Offchain transactions + Factom Blocks on: March 26, 2015, 12:15:26 AM

I'm still not clear why factoids are not considered cryptocurrencies and why bitcoins or off-chain Bitcoin contracts cannot be used instead.

Reading through the white-paper cleared up a lot of questions I had.

Basically, the Bitcoin blockchain simply can't handle very large data entries - so the Factom P2P network and blockchain handles larger entries which are then hashed into the Bitcoin blockchain.  So, Factom is a layer on top of the Bitcoin blockchain.  The two chains become intertwined which strengthens both of them. Factoids are tokens that are spent in the process of entering information into Factom.  They serve as anti-spam and they also serve as a way to reward the federated servers.

Factom can operate on top of any blockchain - but they have chosen to use the Bitcoin blockchain.  Kudos to them
That sounds nearly identical to the Bitcoin Lightning Network. They plan to use a hub and spoke model with serial multisig contract micropayments. It would only add one step to hash your data through static IPs. Howeverer, the FACTOM white paper doesn't discuss how the Factom blockchain will achieve consensus. Bitcoin contracts would require an open payment channel. consisting of counterparty (not xcp) deposits.

The information about FACTOM is unclear at the moment. I'm no longer skeptical of its veracity. Execution has been Bitcoin's historical adversary.

I am not sure how the Factom blockchain achieves consensus... my guess is it will be through Federated servers with a financial stake in the network, ie: Masternodes and these masternodes will be rewarded for hosting a full node through the spending of Factoids and they communicate with each other to ensure consensus among all masternodes on a time interval.  This is purely a guess.

Another guess is those Factom blocks will contain the hashed information, the corresponding Bitcoin block hash, and through the Federated servers and/or P2P clients will host the data...

Yeah, this is still really confusing lol

I look forward to seeing more information next week.

What you guys think about a different exchange ticker?

I like XCS

Since there is a new core release 1.0.3 soon, think about the long-term how you want this coin to be perceived in marketplace for traders.

CannabisCoin is the future. I own a dispensary in Seattle Washington and it has the most real world use cases for me. That's why I chose it over this coin.

Take care all and happy investing.

My company:

http://www.leafly.com/dispensary-info/5-star-organic

Instagram: @5starorganic

I took a quick comparison of services available for both coins... I'm pretty surprised to hear this considering how much infrastructure has been built for Potcoin compared the CannabisCoin.  CannabisCoin has almost no services except for one dispensary in Arizona.  Potcoin has a ton of things going for it, PotWallet, PotFunder, PotcoinJoint, etc.

Alright I read up on all the information I could and downloaded the CSD 1.0.2 wallet.  Got some buy orders in on Bittrex.  I am looking forward to the POS in 1.0.3 and hopefully open-source of the project. Proof-of-stake addition should really make the network kick ass.  Open-sourcing will allow more exchanges to view the source code and consider adding it to the market.  I made a coin request on Poloniex and Cryptsy.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: March 24, 2015, 03:45:50 PM
Need capitalization activation, and if someone like Josh Garza stole the code and released as their own [highly likely] it would be counter.
Publicity is not based around the open source, as about 99% of traders have no idea what it would mean, so to appeal to 1% for publicity is truly inane as one couldn't possibly get publicity in such a small sample size, publicity is based around promotion, which is what Krypto Kash is doing.

When you make a good product, it sells itself.
We are here to change the way everyone sees crypto, we are a long haul, a slow grind, as that's truly what makes a real world currency, not a pump dump coin which bases their publicity from open source because they alter it very little.

Capitalization activation is the required market capitalization for Coin Shield to use recyclers.
There's a few more things I can't say just yet as I want it to be a surprise, but you can know that the first 11 features I built are the base - the beginning to the long list of features I will be releasing in Coin Shield over time.

This is what it takes to make something real, and applicable to the Real World.

Thank You,
Viz.

Note: Unfortunately with so many scams, I would rather not feel "complimented" when other people use my source for pump and dump schemes to scam new users who may not understand it fully. It will come in time, I want to wait until I get the LLL integration, as there is still a lot of code I'm replacing with my own.

Thanks for your time and the good answers!
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Coinshield (CSD) - Pure SHA3, Decentralized Checkpoints, CPU/GPU + PoS on: March 24, 2015, 02:36:32 PM
Really the timelines depends a lot on our publicity, as if I open the source now it will be ripe for the picking for clone devs.

...White paper is 43 pages now, there has been a lot of new development that I am introducing with this paper.
So keep posted, I am releasing everything in stages  Wink

Thank You,
Viz.

A couple more points and then I will shut up. Smiley

What if publicity is dependent upon open-sourcing?  How do you expect people to be excited about innovation that they cannot explore for themselves?

So what if someone forks the source code, CoinShield will be there to make sure nobody is able to release a clone coin, right?

There will never be a "right time" to open-source... and when Satoshi released Bitcoin to the public, it was open-source from the beginning.  I've seen it many, many time, developers constantly kicking the can down the road to open-source for fear of someone copying them.

The greatest compliment you could receive is someone forking your protocol, open-sourcing it, and spending time developing it.
