Guys, let's not confuse ourselves here. I'm fine with the prefixes, but only as long as they're not mandatory. And I'm a absolutely against eventually switching the meaning of Bitcoin and BTC to represent micro-Bitcoins. This is a horrible idea. Just think of what the final number of BTC will then be: 21 trillion. Not one person can wrap his mind around it, and it is a prime reason folks hate global economics. It's all the meaningless trillions floating around.

Also: don't forget the "small calorie/large calorie" travesty. Everyone's still confused to this day. cal? Cal? kcal?

Okay, so you create a mining pool. But instead of getting his share proportional to contributed computing power, each member gets a chunk depending on how early he joined in. That's about it. Like Bitcoin Randomizer, only for pooled mining. I guess the reward could be adjusted/weighted for contributed hashes/sec to prevent this from being too unfair, and to encourage good mining rigs to join, even later on. So what do you think? Sounds to me like something that should have already been done by now, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

If someone actually implements this, I will be more than satisfied with a 4% tip or something.
(that's a modest 4 percent of the pool's entire gain, but I guess that's up to you... )

Don't be so sure. Schumer did mention a "surrogate currency", and said it in a rather derogatory way. It's all in the tone  of voice,  believe me.

Yeah, I was thinking about this for several days now. Most new users right now are bitcoin buyers - not miners. Therefore the prices are driven way up, and people still prefer to buy 200 bitcoins for $6000 instead of spending time putting together a bitcoin rig for just $1500, which could more than pay for itself in a few months. We just might see the day when you can buy an awesome new computer for just 6 BTC, and the difficulty still manageable.

I see your point and I was kind of expecting a response of this shade. I thought of including several choices, but then I would have to dilute this poll with subjective options like "No. But I have understood most of it" and "No. I have read most of it but only understood a small portion" and "I got the gist of the source files but none of the headers". Or a whole bunch of options for different sections of code and one for those who do not know any C++. Alright, so maybe this would be the better way to go, but that's not what's important. I mostly started this thread to hear from those rare savants who can wrap their minds around the entirety of a program. Guys who are real geniuses like Satoshi Nakamoto must be. So far the closest I've heard was Gavin Andresen in "Making Money" saying "I'm a geek, I understand this stuff".

Now don't take this the wrong way. I'm not trying to prove some sort of anti-bitcoin point here. I already know that a vast majority of people (including myself) will not be able to seriously vote "Yes" in this poll. However, this question has been lingering in my mind since day one.

When a handful of people first downloaded version 0.1, we basically crossed our fingers and trusted this "Satoshi" fellow not to screw us over. This move seems to have payed off pretty well and all, but still: how many people can claim to have actually seen and felt in their very souls the proof that bitcoins are "cryptographically secure" and will be capped off at 21 million? I for one opened some of the .cpp and header files only to be greeted by a sea of vague functions, structures I'm not familiar with, and C++ libraries I have never used. Back In 2009 I'm sure most users were similarly overwhelmed. By now out of the many thousands there must be at least a handful of programmers skilled and persistent enough to stubbornly sit through the whole darn program. I would really like to hear responses from some of them. Thank you.

I want to confess my own little "pizza for a million" moment. Back in late march 2010, I traded well over a thousand bitcoins through New Liberty Standard for about six dollars in my PayPal account. Five of which I then used to purchase Second Life money.

I cannot read your mind, of course. But if you're asking whether a global acceptance of bticoins would end current purchasing power parity, I think it will - on paper, that is. A bitcoin will be equal to one bitcoin everywhere. However, untill material goods can somehow be magically teleported from any place, people will still have to buy locally. This means that the same rules that govern standards of living and purchasing power will continue to apply. You could import from overseas, but this is often a lengthy and expensive process. So you will continue to buy food at your nearest grocery store, and products manufactured within your own or neighboring countries. The work you do daily will likely contribute to the economy of your city, and not to one on anther continent. Because of that, what you can buy with a bitcoin will vary greatly from place to place (and will continue to follow a similar pattern to this map ). I have a hunch that the power of purchasing digital content will become very equalized, though.

It reminds me too much of the dollar and other currencies. Am I the only one bothered by this? Now, I'm obviously no graphic designer, but are there any out there who made logos with a similar way of thinking? (maybe some logos that don't look like the looney tunes title card, unlike mine)

By the way, I have been generating bitcoins since at least April '09, but this is my first post here. I guess I was starting to feel left out of the discussions.
