Was fortunate to get in on Day 1-2. Made the principal back and then some. but yeah it collapsed far sooner than expected. Sorry to hear on those who lost money there, but they are called HYIPs for a reason! Invest or gamble wisely. They were up for 21 days then went bust. First with the withdrawal error "Can't access the Bitcoin API! Please try again later.". Two or three days later they purged their FB account. Now a couple days after that the site is not even reachable. Their gig is up.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [GUIDE] Delete your 0/unconfirmed transactions in 30 seconds
|
on: December 08, 2017, 08:23:05 PM

Hi sorry for bumping this but I have some 0 / Unconfirmed transactions on my wallet. I have tried the -zap option and sure enough, it does remove them and restore the balance temporarily in my Core wallet. But then it seems to catch up with the network and the transactions reappear (maybe because they're still in memory pool elsewhere). I can definitely see them on Blockchain TXID as being 0 / Unconfirmed and unspent. I've heard people say 3-5 days but how long should I wait once I zapped the Core to ensure that I'm going forward with higher fee-paid transactions with the "reclaimed" coins and not risking a double spend on the network with my coins?
Is not touching Core for 3 days enough? A week? Thanks!

Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Maker is a Scam [PROOF]
|
on: November 20, 2017, 09:40:47 AM

I know the topic is for Bitcoin Maker but the dialogue is incredibly similar to Coin-Maker.io.
Sadly being naïve I did test it out for a super small amount. You'll get the progress bar completing, and a dialog box / QR code to pay the miner fee of 0.00xxx and a BTC address. However after testing, no confirmations ever happened even after waiting for some time.
Now worried that my coins were forever gone, I atleast *think* I fixed it by doing the following after a lot of Googling:
1. Closed Bitcoin-qt (Core) once I saw the ? in 0 transactions / memory pool 2. Went to the Username > Roaming > AppData > Bitcoin folder and deleted the Memory Pool file. 3. Uncertain as to how to set the typical Windows 7 flags in Windows 10, I just was able to do it from Command Prompt and did "C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\bitcoin-qt -zapwallettxes=1", retaining the transaction history that I like to see in my wallet but removing the stuck 0 transactions send I just spent. 4. Replaced wallet.dat with a backed up version. 5. Relaunched Bitcoin-qt.exe like normal and as such it forced a Rescan (which may take some time). After 30-45 min and letting the wallet reload itself after rescanning, I found that my balance was back to the previous, unspent amount.
Also as a note, in Command Prompt, changing the database cache from 1024 MB to 8192 MB made it rescan SOOOO much faster.
Hope this helps. I think I did it correctly but it's also late and I'm tired so YMMV.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mt. Gox Official Court Hearing / Bankruptcy Notification
|
on: July 09, 2014, 02:25:09 AM
|
Hi all, Since this is a mixture of "press", along with general news and trading discussion, I wasn't sure of the official place to put this thread. Today in the mail I received this information. The English translated page was tightly glued to the front of the envelope and so yeah, it took some time to separate this apart, haha. Basically, this just appears to be an equivalent of what we'd see in the US via a settlement website, or other "official" channel of a company's court proceedings. This is showing that Gox is indeed, bankrupt. I'd imagine that anyone else who traded on the exchange has received similar notification but I wanted to make sure it's out there to let people have some transparency as to what is continuing on with Gox long after they've closed. Apologies if something in similar vein is already posted elsewhere, mods. Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt Gox CEO resigns from Bitcoin Foundation

Good to see him go. I've been out of Gox a long time now (as soon as they started hinting at trouble), but I do feel sympathetic for the people who still have funds there. Cheap coins sure, but at a risk of obtaining nothing is a bit too much for me.
But for as much headache as the company's caused, I do hope to see it go away soon.
So much for Gox's bump. Back to the $150s as of early am, EST.

I certainly feel horrible for the people who've lost money, then spent even more to fly directly to Gox' headquarters to confront them face to face. One would think that any respectable company would do good go head over heels to fix said problem, but oh wait this is Gox.
A nearly 50% spread is insane. For a change everyone else is ahead of Gox now and rightfully so. If they're blatantly disrespecting their depositors then yeah, I won't be sad to see Gox go.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Vs. Paypal - and PayPal is getting sued.

Good luck in your lawsuit. On a totally unrelated note dealing with Paypal, I had a bidder request a refund for a purchased product that was more or less what they ordered, even though the wording was slightly off in mistake and I explained my issue. PP immediately held my account for over $550 and their convoluted system of holds and reverse refunds was confusing. Had to call someone just to ensure the funds were properly taken care of from said buyer when it should be made much easier.

That's so bad to hear. I've been championing Mike's stuff whenever I hear people ask about "how you get a physical coin" or something equivalent to that. I don't happen to be an owner of any but it's been so incredibly tempting. To hear of this is heartbreaking and I hope either he can find a way to continue or at least pass the hurdles before him.

A great article - however the followup piece discussing how to kill Bitcoin (make it so volatile that no one uses it for transaction) still misses the point and other values of the currency / commodity / security / I mean... thing.
