$1,200 a month at 40 hours a week.

If I were to stop enjoying the company of my parents and go to my Airstream trailer on 2 acres of land with some chickens, would I suddenly turn into a victimized and oppressed liberal yelling for entitlements?

I am genuinely curious.

You genuinely need to suck off a shotgun.

Can't you get an employee discount on one? A simple single shot 12 gauge would do the trick fine, and if you used a blank it would still do the job and you might get your picture in the Journal of Forensic Medicine, right in the hilarious inflated clown heads section Grin

Seriously, you can't get arrested for trolling.
If you could, Matther N. Wright would be on death row.
I lol'ed. Actually, if Atlas did in fact kill himself directly due to trolling from provable entities, they could be prosecuted for "cyber bullying"...
Never gonna happen, it's too much of a goldmine for a counter suit. Atlas/Jon/MicroCheeseDick was seeking any kind of attention he could get.

A joke is in order:
Jon was excited about his new rifle and wanted to try it out, so he went bear hunting. He spotted a small black bear and shot it. There was then a tap on his shoulder and he turned round to see a larger black bear. The black bear said "You've got two choices, I either maul you to death or we have sex." Jon decided to bend over.

Even though he felt sore for two weeks, Jon soon recovered and vowed revenge. He headed out on another trip, found the black bear, and shot it. Immediately, there was another tap on his shoulder. This time a big brown bear stood right next to him.

The brown bear said, "That was a huge mistake, Jon. You've got two choices. Either I maul you to death or we'll have rough sex." Again, Jon thought it was better to comply.

Although he survived, it was several months before Jon finally recovered. Outraged, he headed back to the woods, managed to track down the brown bear and shot it. He felt sweet revenge, but then there was a tap on his shoulder. He turned round to find a gigantic grizzly bear standing there.

The grizzly bear said "Admit it, Jon, you don't come here for the hunting, do you?"

BTW, Matthew, please help clear my name Grin

I'm done. Anyways, if there are anymore shenanigans from Jon even after I've dealt with the perp, don't waste the police's time.
Jon, you are a waste of time all the time, no question of that. You should end up getting the psychiatric attention that you need whether it's voluntary or otherwise. Go ahead and pull some more bullshit like this, the cops now have your number coming and going.

Knock it off, Matthew.
Well now I've been called everything, ROTFLMFAO!

You just gave me an idea, how about a set of "Cretins of Bitcoin" action figures? From what I see here it looks like it could make it's own sauce Grin

I had been waiting to see something like this for some time, not that I approve. The drug war is a huge failure/boondoggle, period.

However, Bitcoin pretty much stands on a three-legged stool: Contraband trade, money laundering, and speculation. Rut-roh!

Damn it, the IP evidence is inconclusive.
What a surprise  Wink

Hello, I am Emanuel Ortego. The Jon/Atlas screennames are not within my control.

Please do not contact me in regard to these names and their posts.
Hi Jon, this one's for you.

The hack needs to be looked into on their end to make sure that a hack did occur. The OP's computer needs to be searched to make sure.
Get real, please, it's never going to happen. For one thing his account could have been hacked without ever touching his computer.

The last time I acted as an expert witness/investigator in a computer services civil fraud suit was 1987, I was billing $250 an hour for everything from a couple of days of hands-on assessment to the 4 hours I spent on the witness stand to the 4 days I spent waiting to testify in the courthouse hallway, and my bill included time spent briefing the plaintiff's attorney every night after the 4 day trial, except the night after we won the case of course  Smiley

Forensics ain't cheap and they may not represent the best use of resources, particularly in a situation such as this appears to be.
29  Other / Off-topic / Re: In a few moments, I'll be dead. on: April 24, 2012, 01:32:46 AM
If somebody hacked into a computer, hasn't a crime been committed? Don't police officers investigate crimes? What am I missing here?
No one seems to like paying for public services like law enforcement, consider all the tax whiners one sees around who piss and moan on "principle".

Resource limitations kick in pretty quickly. Hacked PCs have to be way down on the list for a municipal PD and someone has to make a complaint to begin with, like, um, the victim for example. Don't hold your breath waiting for the latter to happen  Grin

The police called to notify me that they made contact with the subject. He claims that his account was hacked. Case closed.

I don't believe the-account-was-hacked alibi. No way can the police even close this case that quick. Something ain't right. (not taking about you, cbeast, only the facts that you presented)
Now that you mention it, this does smell wrong.

OTOH, the police would have the subject's privacy rights to honor, I do believe I've seen this "It's all OK" type disclaimer from law enforcement before and thought that might be the reason.

If someone made the call to the PD, they should have at least been given a call/file/case number/id . At one point I lived in a place where the cops wouldn't even answer a call unless there was a homicide or serious injury, it's important to document the interaction if for no other reason than the possibility of retribution for being a snitch.

Morons...
Nuff' said...

How many family/friends have you lost to suicide? It sucks for everyone. I hope his family gets him the help he needs.
Three last year alone. Making it look like an accident is definitely kinder to survivors. Of course I'm referring to the real thing, not a "cry for help" gesture.

Excellent, this is a fine occasion to shut down this and other potentially compromised accounts, all of them  Wink

I'm sure the PD has assigned somebody to read all the OP's posts.
~Bruno~
Really? I wouldn't bet on it.

Reminds me of president Eisenhower, who flew into a rage when his advisors told him that roughly half of the US population was of below average intelligence :-) Guess which half he was on?
That's pretty funny, I'd never heard that before Grin

Say what you will about Eisenhower, at least he wasn't an effete and decadent little pussy like just about every Republican who treats us to his/her mouth farting noises these days. McCain gets a pass in my book but the spine he had 40 years ago turned to jelly somewhere along the way.

I don't think there is anyone who regards Eisenhower's parting comments on the "Military-Industrial Complex" as anything other than precise and prescient. It certainly helps explain the mindset of worthless and evil fucks like the Project For A New American Century, the mindset that says all we have to do is to regularly kick some ass to have our way. Recall, these are the exact individuals who brought us war on phony pretenses in Iraq, and anyone who tells me we wouldn't have been better off cutting their throats from ear to ear can't do simple math.

36  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin fail when the block reward drops to 25BTC? on: April 18, 2012, 04:22:25 PM
It's impossible to know how the block reward drop will affect everything exactly but talking about "failing" is absolute FUD.

This talk of FUD is such bullshit. Explain why it won't happen asshat. Don't just call it FUD. That is just so weak!

The price will rise...

Anyone who knows any economics realizes that there is no reason to expect more than a minuscule price increase (say 1-3% per annnum) from the drop in block reward. Adding a healthy serving of ass to your reply does not lend you credibility.

(addressing the audience) You should take these kinds of bullshit arguments as a tacit admission of extreme weakness.
Fear based thinking is characteristic of much of what I see pass for discourse on this forum. That's one reason why FUD is such an appealing concept to scared little sheep.

Seriously kiddies, your life is as likely to be a fucked up disappointment that you will regret every day as it is to be anything else, and no matter that, you are likely to die painfully in complete hopelessness and slide down that long gray tunnel into forever darkness without ever knowing why. Oh, and you can't take it with you, even if it is a deflationary currency  Wink

So buck up, you sound like a bunch of little girls. Coach Satani signing out  Smiley

Mathematically illiterate poll
what does 500< means? 500 is less than....what?

Sit down! F

There are a lot of foreign language speakers here, if you really have that much trouble figuring out what he means you should probably just give up now.
+1

FWIW, my reference position is to be short in the same amount as I am holding, hedged and more or less flat with respect to price changes. I'm just a teensy bit on the short side now, leaving me with plenty of dry powder in margin at Bitcoinica.
38  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin fail when the block reward drops to 25BTC? on: April 18, 2012, 02:04:33 PM
Someone who has 51% or anywhere close to it will be making a lot of money, I have a hard time believing that someone would go to all that trouble, money, and time just to attack and kill the chain. More likely they would hide the fact that they even have that much to keep confidence from dropping. Just look at the recent mystery miner, had 15-20% of the hashing power, but the only reason anyone even knew about it was because of the 1tx blocks he was producing.
15 to 20 percent? Nice, drive out at least 60% of the other miner's capacity and there's your 50%. I don't at all doubt that Mystery Miner is in a position to greatly increase its capacity if the mood suits, so the drop out rate could be even lower than 60% and the blockchain could be theirs.

I keep seeing a claim that the Halving of the Bitcoin will cause it to double in value, but it's not clear to me why this would be. Any insights would be appreciated.
39  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: successful phishing attack - what to do - mtgox sucks on: April 18, 2012, 05:45:17 AM
If you saw a really cool price in MtGox, you would hate the five minute delay in every transaction you're proposing. I think the fast processing of transactions is considered a plus+++ for exchanges.
5 minutes could present quite an arbitrage opportunity if queued orders were visible Shocked but if it ever happens it would only be due to a malfunction, period.
40  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: successful phishing attack - what to do - mtgox sucks on: April 18, 2012, 05:31:32 AM
They are right, and what you said in the first sentence of the second line of your post sums it up pretty nicely.

MtGox has a fucking green SSL bar. I doubt any phishing site will have an EV SSL cert.

To answer your question about what to do: You eat the loss. Ultimately it was your fault, sorry.
Compromised SSL certificates are a hot property, there may actually be enough money in bitcoin fraud to make buying one cost-effective. Actually, the pricing I've seen slides depending on the site.
