2  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BITGILD.com - Bitcoin to Gold || LIVE CHARTS - BITCOIN TO GOLD || on: December 04, 2017, 08:46:36 AM
I tested amsterdamgold this week end and did not find the payment option for bitcoins.

So, I sent them a mail and here is the reply, FYI :

Quote from: Sales | AmsterdamGold <Sales@amsterdamgold.com>
Good morning,

Thank you for your e-mail. Unfortunately we cannot accept bitcoin payments at the moment. We hope to have this payment option available as soon as possible.

My apologies for the inconvenience.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We ARE under attack.. we NEED to act... on: July 10, 2015, 08:50:27 AM
not it's a bad thing, low fee is one of the advantages of bitcoin, they should stay low, and always customizable, if i want to pay zero fees and wait days for my confirmation, i want do it, i want complete freedom with bitcoin
Yes! So much yes. Making high fee mandatory is just plain stupid. I should be in control always.
Same opinion as both.

Bitcoin clients can detect that lots of tx are pending and propose (and not forcing it) a fee adjusted to this situation and desire of the sender (slow/fast/very-fast confirmation).

http://www.indiegogo.com/projects/freespeechme-the-anti-censorship-anti-hijacking-open-source-dot-bit-plug-in

https://www.poloniex.com/market?currencyPair=BTC_HUC

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: July 04, 2013, 09:32:54 AM
however, there are some good news. namecoin.com has released the source code on their firefox extension, and the add-on is working again!

Sadly, the chrome app remains garbage for the time being.
My proxy server didn't work last days (the plugin uses it).
Maybe due to too much requests. If it doesn't work anymore again, pm me.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Free genius idea for you: Be the first Google for .bit namecoin domains on: July 03, 2013, 10:03:58 PM
Check out the .bit Search Engine at http://bitse.bit or http://bitse.uberbills.com

Here's some fun stats:

6478 out of 67904 (10%) are active websites.

Of those active websites, 3884 (59%) are parked.

1,528 (39%) of those parked are redirects to the porn website, ClipHunter.

For fun I am running a rescan of all 74,305 registered domains. How many of those do you think will be redirects to ClipHunter?  Wink
Is your script open source and available ? :p

It would be interesting to automatically generate a list of interesting .bit websites, purged from porn, parked, copy of copy of copies, etc.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [announce] Namecoin - a distributed naming system based on Bitcoin on: July 02, 2013, 08:36:32 PM
Command line or websites that registered the domains for you (which were done in a pretty bad way, as you wouldn't even have the private key I believe).
Some people are not frightened by the command line :p.

People who have registered on my service (http://register.dot-bit.org) and who want to switch to namecoin-qt and manage their names themselves can contact me by pm or mail.

There is currently an important discussion for revised fees on namecoin.
People opinions are welcome on this subject.
This thread will decide how much will cost names and tx in the future :p

I'm also rebasing namecoin on the bitcoin v0.8 code.
I've integrated commits up to bitcoin v0.4.0.
Any help is welcomed on testing this release of namecoind (there is a known bug with name_new causing a crash [any hint on this, backtrace is provided ?] + the wallet encryption does not encrypt in all case [known bug of bitcoin v0.4.0]. So, do not use for production :p).

The Convergence plugin (provide HTTPS support for .bit and self-signed certificates, + namecoin dns resolution in a near future) continue to evolve in parallel with NMControl. A beautiful future for namecoin is coming !
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Namecoin-QT with integrated Name Registration (v3.64)New 27/06/13 on: June 30, 2013, 07:06:38 PM
tried it, but well, i couldn't make it happen. :<

this stuff is just too complicated, if you want more adopters, it HAS to be much easier for casuals.
I though it would make the hard changes (change dns server to 127.0.0.1) itself, but it seems to not be the case...

We are working on an easy solution but it'll work with firefox only for now.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Namecoin-QT with integrated Name Registration (v3.64)New 27/06/13 on: June 30, 2013, 05:26:38 PM
another question:

if I use 192.0.0.1 as default and 178.32.31.41 as alt DNS, would this work?

like every request goes through 192, and .bit 178?
You need to use this : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=205026
On linux, I use dnsmasq to do the same.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] NEW - Namecoin-QT with integrated Name Registration (v3.63) on: June 19, 2013, 02:29:49 PM
It works with boost 1.49 (debian 7), too recent version of boost ? Cheesy
18  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Someone was talking about a new namecoin-qt wallet? on: June 17, 2013, 10:41:59 PM
Why are you interested in namecoin? I thought that currency died 2 months ago Huh
Here is the official namecoin news thread if you want to follow important things about namecoin. As you can see, there has been important new things those days (namecoin-qt with names registration and a https/ssl plugin for firefox to skip CA)
19  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie's guide to namecoins? on: June 17, 2013, 10:36:36 PM
Why so much fuss about namecoins..?
Because it has unique features, like providing working decentralized domain names for the first time.
The second one is decentralized and free ssl certificates. No more Certificate Authority to trust & pay.
