You cannot say easily like that , trading is more complicated than what people imagined.
You can consider trading equal to gambling when you do it randomly , did not have any reference to set buy position and sell position etc.
But when you do trade with technique , knowledge and several well known trading approach you cannot say it is same.

There's no doubt people keep looking at the market price , they don't want to miss the golden moment .
Yeaaa it is about taking opportunity to buy or sell their bitcoin so it is not surprising at all.
Even you have planned to place your money in bitcoin for long term you will always have that curiosity feeling to check the price periodically.

At least when you move your habit from gambling to trading you are free from the -EV.
Yeaa that thing makes you never have profit in the end , trading much better when it comes to making steady profit.
Try convince yourself that trading is more reliable source of income , do it everytime you feel in doubt.

For me bitcoin better for long term holding , where other coins such as ethereum , ripple , steller lumens etc for trading.
Based on My personal analysis bitcoin still has a lot of space to grow and it cost a lot of time.
Where altcoins usually get played by people who looking for opportunity  to make money in daily basis.

Yeaa if you can do learn on what you have done then that mistakes could turn to be a good thing in the future.

I agree , experienced the same thing as you .... trade it monthly feel like give you better profit nowadays.
The movement seems like has a pattern like once a month go up and the next month go down and so on.
To support it all you can use backtesting strategy carefully , yeaa carefully!

Bitcoin move against people opinion and sometimes even a fact , for example in the last few weeks ago.
Where people doubt after reached the $7,000 ath it will continue and predicted gonna get dropped even crashed! Well it is now more than $15,000.
And recently people start being overconfident just like you , this is the real time to make a correction.
