641  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC STATUS Shipped on: April 25, 2013, 02:21:02 PM
Twitter says 31 more shipped

I read this:

Code:
BFL_Josh (Shoutbox) - 11 packed today, but I think they missed the ship cutoff time going out, so they'll go out (...)

tomorrow with another ~10 or so.... so a total of 20 tomorrow.

So it seems they manage to ship 10-20 units a day. Not exactly the 400 per day that Josh predicted, but hey, it's Bunch of Failing Losers. What could you expect?  Wink

I hope those guys that ordered in 2013 bring a lot of patience, because it might be 2014 when they finally hold their Jalapenos in hands.

It seems payouts for TRC are not working. I'm well over 5 TRC and no payouts.
643  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bfl shipped "delivered" 2013/3/31 on: April 25, 2013, 07:34:44 AM
PCB redesign is done. The BOM was sent off today. Boards should be in next week, ...

This is such a joke! According to Josh PCB redesign is no big deal. Should be done in 2 days.

Now, 3 weeks later, we still have to wait one more week for PCBs.

2 days became 4 weeks. (1 BFL day = 14 Earth days).

... but probably not tested and (...)

644  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Difficulty after BFL on: April 25, 2013, 07:00:31 AM
Two Jalapenos a day won't have that much influence on difficulty Grin

645  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs finally ship their first batch of Jalapenos on: April 23, 2013, 09:27:52 PM
Fuck them and their Jalapenos.  Angry            I want my hardware.

Don't worry. You'll be fine.

As long as you didn't order a Mini Rig.
Or a Single SC.
Or a Little Single SC.
Or a Jalapeno after July 2012.
646  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WTB 50k FeatherCoins(FCs!!) on: April 23, 2013, 09:12:12 AM
20LTC FOR 1000'FC

Difficulty will double tomorrow. So it should be more like 35LTC FOR 1000FC
647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Looking for system integrators for new asic on: April 23, 2013, 09:04:48 AM
Any news from Helveticoin?
648  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Shipps...no for realz... no really on: April 23, 2013, 08:18:17 AM
BFL, please show us technology, capable to assemble/test/ship 1K units / day.

Yes it will be interesting to see how many Earth days a Josh day will have (Josh said they'll ship 400 units a day). I assume that's like 20 Earth days  Wink
649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL ASIC STATUS Shipped on: April 23, 2013, 08:13:24 AM
1, 2, 3 ... 400! Yep, I count 400 per day as Josh said  Wink

Hope they change the packing to something more "neutral" - otherwise those money machines will "get lost" in post offices like crazy.

Difficulty will be increasing like you don't know.

So in August we will have many of those:
652  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / When will Butterfly Labs (BFL) run out of money? on: April 21, 2013, 11:18:59 AM
I would like to discuss the probability of Butterfly Labs running out of money.

This would have serious implications:
- no more refunds
- no ASIC products
- no support for FGPA products

I don't know when their Venture Capital partners put an end to it (they surely won't wait forever to see a return on invest), so this discussion will be solely about pre order money.

While watching Butterfly Labs Company Video I was thinking: What are those employes actually doing? Besides looking busy on the soldering stations for the video and moving (empty?) boxes around with forklifters ...

6 months have passed since BFLs estimated ASIC shipping date (October 2012) and they have not shipped as single ASIC product to one of their customers. What did BFL workers do all day long in the last 6 month?
Labor costs must be a huge cash burner for BFL.

Yesterday BFL has finally managed to ship something that's supposed to be a Jalapeno to a technical reviewer: BFL Jalapeno Unboxing and Demo. Although it's not passively cooled any more and needs way more than the 5 Watt it was originally designed for.

It seems BFL simply took a Single SC casing, heatsink and fan for this Jalapeno2.0 thingy. While watching this video I noticed how incredibly loud the fan was. It seems to be running at maximum speed. Which means it's barely able to handle the 30 Watt of this device.

A few calculations: 5.5GHs at 30 Watt means:
- Jalapeno: 5.5GH/s at 30 Watt
- Little Single SC: 30GH/s at 163 Watt
- Single SC: 60GH/s at 327 Watt
- Mini Rig SC: 1500GH/s at 8181 Watt (!!!)

If the fan/heatsink is barely able to handle 30 Watt, how is it supposed to handle 163 or 327 Watt? No way in hell can it do that!

Which means, besides the Mini Rig Casings, BFL can also throw away all their Single and Little Single casings, PCBs, fans and heatsinks. Or maybe reuse a few of them for the "new" Jalapeno2.0.

Which means: More (of our pre order) money down the drain ...

My best guess is that BFL starts shipping what they have: Jalapenos. And only Jalapenos. Which will leave lots of angry Single, Little Single and Mini Rig customers behind.

I highly doubt they can manage to ship 400 units a day (Josh brought that number up) - I fear it will be more like 40 per day. Or 4 ;-)

Summarized:
- lots of angry Single, Little Single and Mini Rig customers want a refund: negative cashflow
- existing Jalapeno customers get their products: negative cashflow (because BFL already has the pre order money, but has to pay labor costs)
- a few new Jalapeno customers: positive cashflow

But will that be enough for BFL to survive?
What do you think?

Disclaimer: All this is of course speculation, based on the little facts that are available from BFL.
653  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs Jalapeno Unboxing on: April 21, 2013, 06:49:41 AM
Haha, do you expect anything less from Puerto Libre?  He's lied repeatedly for months, why not throw some fraud into the mix?

[some more ranting deleted]

Right, Josh. We are all liars. Only you speak the truth  Wink

654  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Buying BFL debt. $0.10 per dollar owed. on: April 20, 2013, 06:34:31 PM
The fact of the matter is, I have not lied or made up false information ....

LOL. Josh? Seriously? You have not lied?

655  Other / Off-topic / Re: BFL_JOSH This is who you send your money too on: April 20, 2013, 04:16:50 PM
WHOOO LET THE CLOWNS OUT? WHOOO WHOOO WHOOO WHOOO Huh??

They let themselves out  Wink

656  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL video of a 5 GH/s hashing rig on: April 20, 2013, 04:07:32 PM
Are those images to scale?

Should be.

The heatsink has to
- cool the 8 chips on the PCB
- fit in a casing about the size of this PCB

See for yourself:
657  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: BFL video of a 5 GH/s hashing rig on: April 20, 2013, 03:01:04 PM
Here's BFL's latest video, showing a 5 GH/s miner in what is suspiciously not a Jalapeno case.  The power consumption isn't as bad as what their apparent first attempts were getting, though.

From what I see in the video it's 36 Watt.

So:
Jalapeno (5 GH/s): 36 Watt
Little Single (30 GH/s): 216 Watt

216 Watt is roughly what the cooler of a 7970 GPU has to dissipate.

Now look at the cooling solutions:

658  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL 5 GH/s Miner Demo on: April 20, 2013, 02:32:00 PM
Just give up and stop your trolling, you and I have no idea what power consumption or case size the 25GHs and 50GHs units will come in, ...

Yes we do have an idea. Look at products.butterflylabs.com

Or do you imply that BFL puts inaccurate pictures on their product page? Wink

659  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL 5 GH/s Miner Demo on: April 20, 2013, 01:47:53 PM
So it's real consumption for the ASIC is probably closer to 28watts. So the BitForce 25 GH/s SC will probably come closer to 145watts rather than your 216watt claim.

And the Single SC, which was advertised with 60GH/s, has now what? 50GH/s? 40GH/s? 0GH/s?

It is still advertised with 50GH/s, so let's take 50.

According to your calculation the 25GH/s unit needs 145 Watt. So the 50GH/s needs 290 Watt.

Both units have the same casing.

So this tiny heatsink dissipates 290 Watt of heat? LOL.

660  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [LTC][Pool][PPS]notroll.in PPS Pool -scam alert- on: April 20, 2013, 01:04:54 PM
I thought I might give this pool another chance and mined on it for 3 days.

Now my work for 1 1/2 days is gone (cgminer reported everything OK, but shares have not been counted on notroll.in).

I'm done with this pool!
