10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ZID] Identity | SINGULARITY roadmap --> DNA | AI | no ICO, no premine on: April 04, 2017, 06:25:16 AM

Scrap this.  An entire year of mining amounts to about 3.18 million coins.  This "fair distribution fund" is never going to come close to 1 million coins.  100k coins in the first year is even an incredibly lofty goal.  Either way, by the time such a fund were to reach a significant amount, it will no longer be useful.  The whole point of air drops and distributing free coins is to jump start the "network effect".  That point is moot after 6 months to a year of development.
I agree completely the new Ann page won't have it. The release of the second chain will though. It's POS no mine, with air drop.

I'm confused now. There will be a second coin too? So there will never be an airdrop (or whatever you wanna call it) for zid?

The first chain is the currency the second  chain will be much more and the tokens are essentially fuel for the network.

There are two chains that work in tandem with each other.

One is pure currency. One is programmable for side chains and smart contracts. Chain one you can mine. Chain two is un minable. POS running nodes will make you earn tokens.

Since chain two is premined tokens they will be given away and other rewards offered.

Chain one was no premine so unless we have a mass amount of funds for the donation it won't happen.

Like I said before things are subject to change, as we progress for the better.

Does this mean chain two will be share-dropped from the mining done in chain one? I hope that's what you mean be "premined". What would be the incentive to mine chain one after that happens though?

On a different note, the GUI wallet on Windows never worked, and it crashes after 10 seconds on Ubuntu 16.04. Works on 14.04 though. I hope there will be wallet recovery from the private key, QR code etc.

Overall, all of this is promising, but my main feedback would be to keep things simple, get a MVP out soon. You can work on more complex stuff like the medical records in future versions.

That's exactly the plan.

Givin I have a chance from work and  family to sit down soon the new announcement page will have a timeline of what will be done. If you read the part that says sneak peek it implys just that. The full new page will have everything broken down into sections.

To give you a bit of information here is he basic summary.

First and foremost:

-Chain one

>improvements to upgrade current cryptonote standards
>finish block explorer
>update website, Global Blocks and pool pages.
>improve wallet and release working downloads.
>enhance terminal experience. E.g. make using simplewallet and running chain more unique
>add currency chain global ID which is basically an alias name you choose to use as your wallet address.
>create global verification for currency chain.
Those last two are why I have not worried about the wallet yet. It has a lot to do with it. For now users can download Simple wallet for both 32 and 64 bit Linux and Windows. Doesn't monero still only have simple wallet?

However if you can manage to compile the wallet with given instructions to essentially test messenger or  kudos. :^)

My main mvp for now is global ID and verification.

I kind of like to out do myself and work meticulously on road map, new page and white paper

Also you can backup your wallets no problem.

Back to the timeline, meanwhile I will be working on the side creating the second chain, and all of the singularity updates. Including the top secret one. Which will be out long before the singularity.

I'm going to release each feature at a time. I'm not going to make you all wait for it to be done.

To answer your question about be two chains.

The currency is the "currency" you can mine and will always mine this until the day it maxes out.
The fuel for the network is the fuel for applications.

While you can trade ,pay ,buy fuel tokens. Only the tokens can be used to run nodes and applications per the singularity chain. These will be un minable .

I wanted to keep a simple efficient currency separate from the tokens to, keep it simple.

You will see why all this matters in time if you don't understand. Trust me

Smiley

can i only buy the second chain or can i earn this coins without mining?
will only the first chain be on exchanges or both chains? will both coins be on exchanges? how work both cains together?

i have a question about the masternode

i need to create a .bat file and add

./karbowanecd --restricted-rpc --enable-cors=*  --enable-blockchain-indexes --rpc-bind-ip=0.0.0.0 --rpc-bind-port=32348 --fee-address=FEEADRESS

rpc-bind-ip is 0.0.0.0 or my local ip or my WAN IP?

when i start the node with 0.0.0.0 the daemon starts but i dont see this one: {"fee_address":"KhjM2KE6CXnDqERpSQckdgaT1VcpPuqxKavZwLxYwtqs4j3eWCVE9MtEV4xxdQVp13V4NYMRWbQqYG9 jRw5XNkRUKLjfHwR","status":"OK"}

what i do wrong?

@aiwe you have an idea?
I suppose you are running this on linux machine. Then you can see this when you open that machine local IP (192.168.0.something usually). You'll need white constant IP from your ISP and you'll need to make port forwarding on router to make your machine accessible at that port from the internet.

p.s i vote for new name: carbo Wink

Cool. We are considering to change name to Karbo oficially to make it easier to pronounce and adopt worldwide retaining local name Karbovanets for local community as this word is well known. Karbo is shortening of Karbovantets. So the coin will  have two names: short 'Karbo' and long 'Electronic Karbovanets' subtitle.
Please post what do you think about it.

i vote for: 'Karbo', i like this name and for the long name: 'Electronic Karbovanets'

To all people saying that the will be huge inflation with this infinite block size.
Well lets wait for 10 years and see how it will work in future.
But right now, if it so important for you to calculate the coin price based on total max supply well
right now its 78 000 000 MUSIC ever existing. And there is 90 000 000 ETH ever existing right now.

Price for MUSIC is 0.00000825 BTC. Price for ETH is 0.049 BTC.
So using your logic the price for MUSIC right now should be at least 0.055 BTC.

And i dont know what are you waiting for and not running buying cheap MUSIC before it will be too late.

The point of my message is Total Coin Supply worth shit in terms on avaluating real coin price. It is what it is.

i know your point BUT eth has a block reward = 5 eth per block and this coin has a block reward = 314 mc's
i dont know why so much block rewards - but we will see in the next months

my calculation come out to be about 1.8 million coins per day, based on 15 seconds/block and each block is 314 coins.

is this correct?

Yes, we're on track to be around 1.8 million coins up from yesterday. So in 6 months there will be around 182 days*1.8M = 327.6M more coins in existence than today, or over 400% increase in supply.

Scarcity is really important. Unfortunately without any controls in the protocol to regulate the supply I can't see this going anywhere as investments will be rapidly devalued as the supply grows.

but why so much supply? with so much supply in circulation the price will fall to much i think, i cant believe that 1 coin is more wort than 1 cent in the future
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reminder: Monero can fall 70% or more, and that's ok on: March 29, 2017, 08:22:33 AM
Anyways, I wanted to write a small post here to encourage new fans not to bail on this wonderful currency just because the price drops. As in, the price dropping by 70%. What was the latest new high we experienced earlier this month? $25/xmr? It could very well drop to $7 in 2017.
I say this because it has done that in the past. I was there during the last big drop, and it was pretty rough. In August of 2016 Monero was accepted on Alphabay, the first coin besides Bitcoin on the DNM. It shot up from $2.50 to $15 in under two weeks. That's 600% gains in 13 days. Boom:

...a lot of us began to calculate our winnings more seriously, and began to assume that $15/xmr was the new normal.

Our coins, once worth a glorious $15, were now worth a pathetic $4.38. A drop of over 70%. Oof.

I am eyeing an entry point between $7 and $15. First time I will diversify into XMR. It is just time to start giving up on Bitcoin. The Scalepocalypse will not be rectified soon. I am in ETH right now, whose chart looks more bullish to me short-term. None of this guaranteed of course. Although if BU fades away, Bitcoin may get a significant recovery bounce, but then I think it would come back down again as reality sets in that LN is a long ways from reality and miners are going to gouge for fees if they lose the war about block size. I might be misreading XMR's chart and it may be poised to move higher now.

Note recently it was mentioned that ETH will soon be added to Alphabay and several other significant news stories with Raiden and Metro coming soon as well. And many ICO apps coming out for Ethereum such as MobileGo and including the very rapidly appreciating First Blood.

i think monero are the best currency after BTC. i think we will see 100-150 per xmr in the next 2 years
