2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best source for info on upcoming reputable ICOs on: October 02, 2016, 09:38:54 PM
Also check out https://www.reddit.com/r/icocrypto
3  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcointalk is a good way to get information about Bitcoins? on: September 24, 2016, 01:39:44 AM
Bitcointalk is decent but you need to have a good head on your shoulders to properly navigate. The subreddits for various cryptos (r/bitcoin, r/btc, r/ethereum, etc) are also great sources for learning / reading recent news. This is probably not the best resource for a newbie.
4  Other / Off-topic / Re: Will you accept bitcoin as your salary? on: September 23, 2016, 03:44:37 AM
Bitwage is a great way to get paid in bitcoin if you choose to do so. Olaf from Coinbase has been getting his salary as bitcoin for a while now.
5  Other / Archival / Re: Do you have paypal account even though you have bitcoin? on: September 13, 2016, 05:30:35 PM
Not all merchants accept bitcoin at the moment, so a PayPal account is still useful to pay for goods and services online. Coinbase actually allows you to buy bitcoin w/ PayPal which is interesting.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't store private keys on UBS Safe on: September 08, 2016, 05:47:26 PM
Interesting that they specifically mention private keys for cryptocurrencies. I wonder what triggered them to explicitly mention that.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do people use so many Bitcoin wallets? on: September 08, 2016, 03:48:10 AM
The diversity of wallet software is a good thing for bitcoin. Different teams can test different feature sets, and the ecosystem learns what works and what doesn't. There's still a good bit of mystery as to what the perfect "average consumer" wallet software looks like.
8  Other / Off-topic / Re: If Bitcoin price would fall to the bottom, what would you do next? on: September 05, 2016, 11:44:57 PM
Nothing wrong with diversifying your portfolio a bit. That's why it's usually suggested to not keep all your eggs in one basket.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Megaupload + Bitcoins on: September 04, 2016, 11:32:54 PM
Kim Dotcom revealed some more info today. Check this interview posted on reddit. According to the comments, seems like it's going to be some kind of referral system with bitcoin payments.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Value proposition of Xapo on: September 03, 2016, 07:25:28 PM
I think there's a lot of overlap with services like Coinbase and Circle - however, Xapo seems to be more focused on being a BTC "vault", as they provide an institutional platform for BTC storage. For example, Xapo is the custodian for the Bitcoin Investment Trust.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: actual number of people using Bitcoin? on: September 03, 2016, 07:22:36 PM
It's really difficult to estimate. As many have said, one "user" can have multiple wallets, so the blockchain is hard to read. Blockchain.info provides a baseline, but once again, a user could have multiple Blockchain.info accounts. Coinbase says they've served 4.3 million customers - and these are more likely distinct people. I'd estimate 5 - 10 million users overall.
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: how bitcoin is popular in your country ? on: September 03, 2016, 04:31:56 AM
It feels like Bitcoin as a name is well known in America. However, many people don't take the time to research what it actually is / think about its significance.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if POKEMON GO let people earn Bitcoin? on: September 01, 2016, 05:28:23 AM
Awesome idea! Reminds me of the Cryptomon project.
14  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank or Bitcoin Wallet? on: August 31, 2016, 04:09:02 AM
Bitcoin wallets allow a greater deal of control over funds, while bank accounts often offer insurance on funds. At a practical level, there are strengths & weaknesses to either approach.
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: WHAT CAN I DO WITH 0.1 BTC ?? on: August 30, 2016, 02:16:21 AM
1 BTC is ~$60. The real question is, what can you do with $60? With Bitcoin debit cards becoming more popular, it's pretty easy to spend BTC wherever plastic is accepted - so nothing's really "off-limits" as far as what you can buy.
16  Other / Archival / Re: Do you use bitcoin as currency or investment? on: August 29, 2016, 06:09:18 AM
For investment, see Bitcoin: Ringing the Bell for a New Asset Class which takes a deeper look at BTC as an investable asset. Makes some cool comparisons to more traditional asset classes.

Hey everyone, check out this video we made back in December as part of our application to a startup accelerator program - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frnzhET1D-Y

Also, a demo of the app in action for those who haven't seen before - https://i.imgur.com/TUPNJj8.gif

It's okay, though, when did they all change into matching tank tops? The concept is great though.

Right around when they all collectively stumbled onto the Lawnmower concept (at least that was our vision) Smiley
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Lawnmower.io's Throwback BoostVC (Bitcoin Startup Accelerator) App Video... on: June 19, 2015, 01:17:26 AM
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frnzhET1D-Y

Check out this video we made for part of our BoostVC (an accelerator/incubator in San Mateo, CA) application video in December. We legit had no product at all at this point but ended up getting accepted into BoostVC's "Tribe 5" - focused only on bitcoin startups anyways Smiley

Today you can check out www.lawnmower.io to find links to our iOS and Andriod apps that have a lot more features and polish than the vague image we were dreaming of in the video.

Disclaimer: We're very aware we are awkward and terrible actors... enjoy! Smiley
20  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: should i move my ''saving'' to Bitcoin? on: June 18, 2015, 10:40:24 PM
Check out www.lawnmower.io - a free iOS and Android app that helps you convert your spare change into bitcoin.

Super easy way to passively acquire bitcoin over time by connecting your spending habits with your "saving" habits - in bitcoin Smiley
