I've canceled this bet since I don't fit the 100+ posts criteria, so it was never properly made.  If I want to make the bet, I'll make it through someone else who does fit the criteria who will make it on my behalf.

Btw, with regard to the BitJack21 entry, the current minimum bet is actually one chip (0.01 BTC), not 0.04 BTC.

Hmm, the site uses sockpuppets that both use the same broken English and log in seconds from each other, the site refuses to prove it even actually has the jackpot it promises, even though legitimate sites always do that and Bitcoin is set up to make that easy, and the response to these comments from the site sockpuppets is abysmally incompetent.

Verdict:  SCAM.

Perhaps it will pay on the lesser jackpots to keep suckers on the hook, but I would expect to see that big jackpot never.

There are only two rational reasons they would refuse to prove they actually have the jackpot they promise.

The first is obvious.  They don't have it.

The second is they're too dumb to be running anything related to Bitcoin, and actually don't know how.

I found this site because they have a promo on http://sealswithclubs.eu where I often hang out.

All I have to say is great!  The interface is much more user friendly than SatoshiDice and the bet-sizing makes it a perfect way to bet that amount of BTC you have sitting around that is of no use to you, that you don't care if you lose, to gamble it to try to get that amount you want for a tournament buyin or other purpose.

Also, because you specify the payout address at the outset, I can place bets directly from my other gambool places, like Dragon's Tale, and have it pay out immediately to my deposit address.  I assume this was on purpose, but if not, you just captured another niche market.

The house edge is also nice and tiny.

Congratulations!

Edit to remove griping and complaining.  Despite being slightly later than the original email told me, the method of depositing 7 BTC to accompany my 3 BTC and thereby reach the 10 BTC withdrawal minimum succeeded, and the transaction went off without a hitch.

I have therefore entirely deleted my original complaint on this thread and can say that while I can't play there, SwitchPoker seems trustworthy.

MistCat reporting for freeroll duty!

I'm just posting my address out of idle curiosity to see if anyone actually does send me BTC.

If they do, I'll come back to this thread and re-gift to someone else in the thread.

Hello all.

I've been lurking these forums for about a month now, just reading other people's reactions to things, and now that I have a handle on how to mine, how to exchange bitcoins, how the blockchain works, etc, I've convinced an entrepreneurial friend of mine to accept bitcoin on his website.  I am trying to get the API for Paysius working, and so I finally broke down and registered here.  Hopefully I can get some information on it, because Bit-Pay requires a TAX-ID to sign up, which would be great for my friend, but I want everything set up and working before I hand it over to him and don't want to go through the hassle of getting my own TAX ID.  I will if Paysius doesn't pan out, but damn.

Anyways, I'm loving the bitcoin community.  Perfect mesh of economics, IT and libertarianism.  Fits me like a glove.

Although I was on the early cypherpunks mailing list and have been interested in the general concept of digital cash for some time, what actually got me into Bitcoin finally was that Bitcoin poker sites like Seals are about the only ones to allow U.S. players.

I suspect that will stop eventually if the traffic becomes profitable enough.

That the currency allows other potentially interesting uses is just a side bonus, although it may become the main attraction for me eventually.
1689  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you get your first bitcoin? on: May 22, 2012, 09:26:03 PM
I won a few 50 bitmill freerolls on Seals With Clubs and then played cash games for a while.  Before then, I had nothing but what I first got from the Bitcoin Faucet and then dailybitcoins, while they still gave a whole bitmill.

Hi.  This is one of my posts to qualify to post.

Instead of just completely wasting a post with just "hi there," though, I'll point out I'm just doing this so I can post my username in this thread which is to get registered for a freeroll at the Seals With Clubs bitcoin poker site.

The prize pool is 3 BTC.

Nobody's lurked for years on the forum. For those who claim they did, how could they never have discovered the newbie forum and this requirement? Chances are they didn't find the FAQs about posting etiquette either.

I've never lurked years anywhere.  Okay that's all I have to say for my first fluff post.  I'll try to make the other four better, so I'll wait until I actually have something to say.
