So finally I made it, I have been crowned legendary ! My actual activity is 868. I am glad I did not had to wait very long to become one !
It spent 29 days, 11 hours and 52 minutes to become one and I made 3095 in the meantime. Those numbers might not be exactly right, as I saw it now, and theorically I am one since Tuesday, but still it gives you and the posterity an idea.
Now theymos really needs to add another rank so that I can reach it !
Congratulations. People are now hitting 1500 and 2000 activity points regularly, so I do think that the idea of a new rank is good. However, for the average Joe in the forum he'll probably not be engaged for that long and only have a few activity points, and making a new rank for no good reason isn't going to be economically feasible.

Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When to leave the game?

As you know that you need to stop and leave the game? How can you feel this moment. I almost always lose their money because they can't learn when to leave the game. I'm not sorry to lose. I have a lot of money not to lose, but I can't keep the winnings if I'm lucky.
There is no real correct answer, but personally for me what I do is I set myself a target. And once I hit that target, no more gambling. This way, it becomes way more fun and you get to keep the profits as well from your gambling activity. If you don't set yourself a goal, you're just going to keep gambling. Even if you win you're going to say it's not enough, and you're not going to stop. That's how people get addicted to gambling, and we all know the more you gamble, the more you lose.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Roger Ver has been compromised

https://twitter.com/rogerkver/status/853250894162350080Only a node that is mining is a true full node. The rest are just slowing down the propagation of blocks between the real full nodes. At this point, I am convinced Roger Ver is compromised and is posting absurd shit like this to tip us off. It's still Roger... If any of his accounts have been compromised I doubt the hacker would have used his accounts in this purpose, but rather to scam actual spendable funds. Also Roger would have discovered about the hack very quickly afterwards. The chances are slim, but it could be true.

Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do any people gamble under the age of 18?
|
on: April 15, 2017, 11:14:25 PM

I want to know if anyone here gambles or have gambled under the age of 18, I feel like there are many kids who do this and I am interested to see how many people actually gamble under 18, if you have any friends that gamble or have gambled under 18 include them.
EDIT: I mean mostly kids online, its hard to be a kid and gamble physically. I feel like the gambling rate for kids is increasing a lot and is gonna be a problem in the future, especially with the CS:GO situation. EDIT2: Another question to ask, is what is your opinion on the topic of kids gambling, do you think it is a growing problem or a problem alone for that matter? EDIT3: What is the best way to counter this problem without websites having to know your exact identity? Yeah, of course. CSGO was definitely one of the big ones. However Steam shut a lot of the sites down or refused to give the access to steam payment API I think? So now there is a lot less. There is really no way, I mean the parents could be very anal about it but in the end, it's the child's choice. Nothing we can do.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Could LTC go to $1000.00 ?

Could LTC conceivably go to $1000.00 if segwit were to activate in 2 weeks, and I mean in a fairly short period of time.
If not $1000.00, what could LTC go to???
Would love to hear from you guys/gals
Lol I think $50 would be possible but $1,000 is a stretch. Even if something is that good it won't bring a coin's value to 100x of its current value overnight. I wish though, I wish.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you store your bitcoins?
|
on: April 13, 2017, 12:58:01 AM
|
Hello everyone as the title says ^ Do you store your bitcoins online or on a wallet on your computer, perhaps cold storage?
Definitely in cold storage as the bitcoin hard fork is coming up. Don't wanna risk losing all your life savings of bitcoin because the exchange site or the wallet site you are storing your coins on doesn't give you the option of getting 2 coins from 2 blockchains. The safest way is to get a hardware wallet, like trezor or ledger, and then store your bitcoins there. And back up your seeds, of course.

Next stop: MOON I honestly wish I had bought more when it was triple digits. Always thought that bitcoin was in a bubble when it was over $1000 but I guess not. Because right now the price isn't going anywhere but staying above $1,000 at this moment in time in bitcoin history.... Wish I could time travel to buy more BTC lol.

Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia Set to Legalize Bitcoin by 2018, Track Every Transaction
|
on: April 12, 2017, 12:27:52 AM
|
Only a year ago Russia’s Finance Ministry was threatening jail time to anyone using digital currencies. In a major U-turn, it’s now edging closer to their acceptance as a legitimate financial instrument to open a new line of attack on money laundering. The authorities hope to recognize bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in 2018 as they seek to enforce rules against illegal transfers, Deputy Finance Minister Alexey Moiseev said in an interview. The central bank is developing a joint position together with the government on digital currencies, according to its press service. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2017-04-10/russia-caves-in-on-bitcoin-to-open-new-front-on-money-laundering
I'm not sure If I should be happy or sad since they are planning to Legalize bitcoin but in the same time, tracking transactions. I'm not entirely sure on how they plan to do it though and how It could be possible unless they are planning to run their own exchanges. I believe that Russians will need TumbleBit whenever this will happen. Lol, I wish governments can stop doing this kind of shit to bitcoin. Like come on, you realise that bitcoin is actually a legit currency and now you hate it because it'll wreck your entire economy if everyone leaves the fiat debt cycle to join bitcoin. So you monitor every transaction? Oh wait, anyone can monitor every transaction on the blockchain. What matters is whether you are able to link that particular transaction to a purpose, which is so difficult to do even if you're a highly experienced bitcoiner, and will probably cost you a shit ton Go ahead Russia. I don't give a shit honestly.

Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 0.01 loan
|
on: April 12, 2017, 12:25:23 AM
|
I am aware I am a newbie user, no need to remind me!!
Looking for 0.01 loan, around 10 USD.
Collateral can be discussed in PMs.
Return date will be 4/14.
Any further questions can be answered in my PMs.
Tell me what your collateral is and i'll fill your loan if the collateral is legit, which I highly doubt. As Loan Shark said, there is really no point of concealing your collateral if it was to be worth 120% of the loan amount. Better to disclose it publicly to avoid any speculation than to disclose it only in PM.

Economy / Micro Earnings / Re: freebitco.in Annual investment
|
on: April 11, 2017, 12:02:18 AM
|
So I recently received an email from freebitco.in faucet that are now offering an annual investment for their user. It promises a 4.08% of annual interest with a minimum of 30k satoshi to be able to participate. What do you guys think about this? This is the actual email from them: Dear FreeBitco.in user,
We are excited to announce a launch of a new feature - a bitcoin savings account!
You can now earn 4.08% annual interest (paid and compounded daily) on any balance that you hold in your FreeBitco.in account, without doing anything!
All you need to do is mantain a balance of at least 30,000 satoshi (0.0003 BTC) in your FreeBitco.in account and we shall pay you compounded interest on your full balance everyday. There is no lock-in period to earn interest (you start earning interest right from the first day!) and your balance can be withdrawn any time you wish. Treat your FreeBitco.in account like an instant-access savings account to hold your excess bitcoins and earn passive interest on your account balance everyday. I think it's actually pretty good. You're getting interest on your bitcoin, like the interest rate although some people say it is bad, but is actually higher than lots of commercial banks all around the world so i don't think you can complain much about it. Say bitcoin rises by 50% in value in 1 year like it did last year + this year after the halving and all that. You'd be getting 4% on top of 50% profit, which is awesome

What hardware wallet you recommend to store ( for a long time ) my bitcoins? and does offline storing more recommend?
thx
Main ones are definitely trezor or ledger. I'd recommend trezor for long term because it is obviously looks a lot cooler than ledger nano, which just looks like a USB and I think it is also waterproof, pressure proof and everything else proof to some degree You can also store your wallet recovery seed i think, using cryptosteel which is amazing. Completely offline storage, no need to worry about hacks at all.
