The team has seen this thread and the feedback is being considered, it's just much easier for us to funnel feedback via select channels so please give us time to evaluate the feedback as development takes time.

Additionally, I apologize for not staying more on top of this thread but there are a bunch of discussions about Augur going on and some get checked more than others.

Regarding Gatecoin, Augur is not in the position to endorse any exchange and that extends to Gatecoin, I will personally (as Tony Sakich, not as a representative of Augur) that Gatecoin IS the only way to purchase REP right now and I've heard positive feedback, but as an organization Augur makes no comment on this. We will say that when REP is fully released, we believe (and hope) that multiple exchanges will make it possible for individuals to participate in event reporting on the platform, until then the team is focused on the full release and highly recommend anyone interested in the project at Augur.net as well as the project's GitHub page at http://github.com/augurproject and submit feedback as it's essential to the finished product!

Beta is out. https://augur.net/

What can I say the UI is very disappointing!
I sincerely hope this will be improved on actual release!

Sorry that you aren't enjoying the new UI, that's disappointing to hear as we've had positive feedback from most due to this change. The UI change was mostly due to the very slow loading of what we had during the alpha (sometimes it wouldn't load at all). The current UI has a heavy influence from former InTrade/TradeSports developer Tomas Priecinsky, although may other team members were definitely involved with the changes. I would definitely recommend using the feedback button to share your concerns as we like hearing negative opinions just as much as positive ones...of course we can't guarantee changes will be made, the feedback will be read and will be considered.

Quick update as I didn't see it posted anywhere on this forum.

We released the Augur Beta today, you can check it out at Augur.net and our blog post with some information on the beta is at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=860629.0.

The other cool thing that happened today was our partnership with Microsoft. Augur is going to be available on Microsoft Azure's Blockchain as a Service offering, Microsoft announced this (and were cool enough to give the beta a huge plug) earlier today, check the announcement out https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/azure-blockchain-update-6/.

Finally, if anyone has issues with the beta, please just use the Feedback tab on the UI to contact us directly, this will enable us to answer any issues you may have.

Just so everyone knows, some of the team occasionally checks this forum but we mostly use http://reddit.com/r/augur as the primary community for communication and encourage everyone to stop by if interested.

Additionally, I was asked by Vitalik to speak at devcon but was unable to, my speech was unique as it was about marketing, an area that I feel many dapps have been not doing well in. Fortunately, I'm going to give a talk at my school (Oakland University) on November 17th, I'm planning to give the same talk, just with a longer introduction to the tech itself. The school is in Metro-Detroit and created an event page at https://orgsync.com/80128/events/1282308/occurrences/2871069, I'm working on getting someone to both livestream and archive it as I want everyone who attended devcon to be able to check it out.

I can also always be reached on my Twitter http://twitter.com/tonyswish and website http://tonysakich.com. My role at Augur has reduced since the end of the crowdsale but I'm still involved in the project and wanted to make everyone aware of how to contact me as much of my time is going to be diverted to other projects, so channeling the communication into a few channels make it much easier for me.

Thanks again for all of your support and interest!

Well shit.  Can't believe I missed that.  OU is right next to me lol

Really? Sad you missed it! Someone did record it and you can check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpugs8HM2so

Wanted to just give everyone here an update of what's going on with Augur.

On Monday, August 17th we are starting our Reputation Token crowdsale at 12PM EST. We meticulously went over the options for token distribution methods and although a crowdsale was not exactly our favorite choice, it was the one necessary as the tokens need to have value in order for our decentralized oracle system to work. We wrote a a blog post going into a bit more detail about why we are using a crowdsale, I would encourage everyone to check it out http://www.augur.net/blog/why-a-crowdsale-is-necessary-for-augur-to-work-some-updates.

For those who want to participate in the crowdsale, the official website is http://sale.augur.net and it is currently up. Additionally, for instructions on how to participate and other important information, we have put all of the directions and important information up here http://www.augur.net/blog/the-augur-crowdsale.

In the crowdsale page above, we detail our prospective timeline for further Augur development, I would encourage everyone to check that out as well. Wanted to include image that highlights the important details for the crowdsale with everyone. Feel free to share this image and any information about what we are doing as it's greatly appreciated.

We are projecting the crowdsale to begin two weeks after the Ethereum Frontier release as of now, stay tuned to Augur.net and follow our Twitter feed www.twitter.com/augurproject for up date information on this.

The token will be used for people to report on event outcomes within the system. Essentially REP is the first decentralized oracle solution ever implemented. It allows holders to report on the outcome of events in Augur’s prediction markets, and rewards them for both honesty and regular reporting, with half of all trading fees on the platform.

In the coming weeks we will be releasing a short video and blog post that goes into more detail so keep an eye out on Augur.net.

In addition to my earlier post, we released a video that explains Augur in a simplified and easy to understand manner. My good friend (and Bitcoin fan) Country singer Shooter Jennings was nice enough to narrate the video, which I believe came out great.

This is something I wish that had it's own thread, if you are interested in the project please share this with anyone who you think would share interest, it would be greatly appreciated.

Check out my short blog post that accompanied the video http://www.augur.net/blog/how-augur-works-video.

This is Tony from the Augur team and I wanted to share our latest blog posts with the community as I feel they will be of interest, one is about Combinatorial Prediction Markets and the other is a guest post by Augur Advisor and Wharton Researcher, Dr. Abe Othman on Automated Market Makers.

In addition, I have been on BitcoinTalk before but feel free to follow myself on Twitter http://twitter.com/tonyswish or check out my podcast (Episode 19 with Augur Lead Dev. Joey Krug is recommended) at decentralize.fm.

Why Combinatorial Prediction Markets are Useful by Augur Lead Dev. Joey Krug - http://www.augur.net/blog/why-combinatorial-prediction-markets-are-useful

What is an Automated Market Maker? by Dr. Abe Othman - http://www.augur.net/blog/what-is-an-automated-market-maker

For the latest updates about the project, I want to also share a few links here as we want to make sure BitcoinTalk members can follow what we are doing in the easiest manner possible:
