21  Bitcoin / Project Development / I have many ideas but i am afraid to execute on: March 13, 2013, 05:26:48 PM
Hello all,

I'm a programmer proficient in LAMP setups. Having built websites for large and small customers. I have always been facinated by Bitcoin and everytime I think up a new business venture for Bitcoin, one thing stops me. My lack of understanding for handling bitcoin and the server infastructure required. Obviously I dont want to be making any mistakes and the trouble is most my ideas result in me holding money is some sort of hot wallet. So what can you the bitcoin community suggest to me? I've learnt from the mistakes of others and I don't want to repeat history, so is there any direction I can go?

Regards
22  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Please upgrade to Bitcoin 0.8 and help Android/MultiBit users! on: March 02, 2013, 06:50:52 PM
Done! Smiley

I can see faster speeds. I am on a laptop (relatively old). I get 1 block every 2 seconds which isn't too bad, faster then before thats for sure.

Thank you bitcoin devs!

EDIT: i noticed some people said they could see how many nodes were running on 0.8 is there a website that provides this data?
23  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Good security tips for people looking to set up a Bitcoin online business on: December 10, 2012, 09:36:46 AM
Here is a URL i found whilst browsing. I believe it contains some good information in regards to PHP/Server security. Does bitcoin offer some kind of handbook for this?

Was reading through some of Pirate's old posts and he use to sell video cards. Maybe we can get in contact with a buyer and see if a return label was written on the packaging?
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why aren't we, the community, regularly paying the lead developers of bitcoin? on: September 06, 2012, 11:59:30 AM
What would be cool is if mining pool's gives the option to miners to donate some funds to a shared developers bitcoin wallet.

Then at the end of each release, the funds inside that address will be automatically divided equally based on criteria possibly such as:

1) the number of commits
2) number of lines written
3) Im not sure if its possible to gauge the severity or importance of a fix.

Any idea who is maintaining the pass through for this? Is it yourself Erik?

Yeah it's being maintained by DeaDTerra, who is basically an all-around badass and I'm very happy he's set it up.

Hi,

So i guess when I buy e.g. 2,000,000 shares, it will connect to the pool I wish and based on their share rules, my payout will change. Now dumb question:

1) How long does it take to use up 2,000,000 shares?
2) Current price per share is [edited out] but lets use an example price of 0.00001, how profitable will it be for me?

Thanks, even though the buyers page is very simple, I find it difficult to understand the most important parts, how much is the ROI, per share purchased.

Thanks
30  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bit-Pay is now officially BitPay.com - New website, new features on: August 21, 2012, 07:38:33 PM
I think the main large image slider needs some work. I figured out that I had to drag it accidently, also there isn't any information anywhere mentioning this.

EDIT: Just figured out there is a previous and next feature. Maybe they need to be more prominent. Or make it auto flip from slide to slide.
31  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: [BitcoinMax.com] Paying 4.9% per week... Small accounts welcome. on: August 17, 2012, 06:45:30 PM
According to Pirate BTCST is now closed.

my withdraw was just cause I needed my coins, I was going to put whatever was left back after using them...

and now I won't be seeing them for days?

... that's pretty fucked up ... and will probably cost me more than being involved was worth in the first place

Well, in the end as long as I get them all is good...
Same scenario for me, got some BTC in, deposited a big chunk yesterday only to find out that its closing lol. I think the endless streams of FUD ruined this opportunity, oh well, was a good run.

In a few hours I will update Pyramining code to implement some new features.

Update complete. I tested everything and it seems it's working properly. Should you encounter any kind of problems, just report to me.

I see an active deposits tab, what other features does the update contain?

Thanks

Hi, i noticed that as the difficulty increases the BTC / Bond decreases is there a direct relation to this or is there another factor involved?

Someone needs to write a Firefox/Chrome/IE extension to support that scheme.

Based on this reply i think it can be done in a hackish nature for Chrome:

http://stackoverflow.com/a/2337525/1219907

if you read the top, it says that it needs to be registered to the OS, bitcoin-qt isn't registered to the OS as a handler for the bitcoin URI.
I see, yup just read up on it and it can be achieved i believe from bitcoin-qt by coding up the following:
