Rattus, thanks I will try that. Foxpup, I need to be a bit more clear as my post may be a bit confusing. After I shut it down normally (sudo shutdown now), then it won't come back up, just the no bootable device screen or random scrolling. Doesn't happen everytime, but more often do I find myself up late rewriting the drive, than luckily it coming back to life.

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on what I can do to prevent my usb stick from corrupting when I shut it down. Any time I need to regrease a card or change a fan I shutdown, and better than half the time, the usb is corrupt/messed up and won't get back to a terminal window again. It doesn't even get to the linux main screen. It will say something like "no boot device recognized" or sometimes it turns into real little script and scrolls the screen. I shutdown by either holding down power button, turning power off at psu, or a sudo shutdown now and all get the same result. Any ideas?

Hey guys.....can anyone tell me what to use to clean this old grease off my gpu and surronding area. Should I use contact cleaner, laquer thinner or? My fan on this one card (5870) is running at 4100-4600 rpm and all my other cards are running at 2900-3200. I figure the little bit of grease that is on this one wasn't dispersing heat properly. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I am looking at doing a colocation here in KC for my miners, especially when I get more. I am going to put them in the underground caves. Cool steady temps and cheap power. It is .04/kwhr. Can't beat that price unless you live near a dam.

Hello, new to all this and want to get all my rigs up. I am starting with 25 5870's and running them on the gd70 msi boards with 1200 watts psu's. I only have 100 amp service at my house and don't want to blow anything so I wired a whole new panel fed off a 60amp from the original box and running 220 instead. My new breaker box has 8 20amp double pole breakers so someday, when I get more dough for cards etc, I can run eight machines. My rigs should pull approx 5 or 6 amps (I think) each, so I ran 20 amp breakers and 12-3 wire for each machine on their own circuit. How many machines can I run like this on 220 before I start pulling too much power from the rest of the house, or is that even possible. I figured running 120 and pulling 10 amps per rig would kill something fast. Any advice on rewiring my psu's to 220, do I just change the plug end or is there more I don't know as they are supposed to autoswitch according to manual. They are INWIN commanders and 1 Corsair ax1200. Thanks for any advice.
