41  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SpendCoins - The cryptocurrency business directory on: March 29, 2024, 07:26:44 PM
It's still a work in progress but please feel free to leave constructive feed back.
  • I think it'd be better to add another label [an orange "might require KYC" label] for services that might require KYC in certain conditions [increasing the limits or suspicious activities (e.g. Bitrefill)].
  • A toggle button for light/dark mode would also be nice.
42  Other / Meta / Re: What do you think if Bitcointalk accepted videos? on: March 29, 2024, 06:29:41 PM
If so, do you think it should be possible to share videos from any platform, or just from specific platforms?
I prefer the embedded videos to be from a platform that doesn't force users to view an ad or two [YouTube (e.g. standard videos) is a perfect example of a platform that should be avoided].

And what would be the maximum time a video should take to be available here?
I'm not sure if the length of the embedded videos can put significant stress on the resources of this forum or not [especially since they're hosted somewhere else], but I think a maximum of three minutes would be more than enough for covering a lot of things.

IIRC, there were security risks with embedding such things, so I'm wondering what changed.
43  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: (IMO) they are not worth the same... on: March 29, 2024, 04:56:58 PM
However, I commend you all to take some time and watch how this man made a physical bitcoin with gold and it looks exactly like Bitcoin.
The latter part is quite confusing for me...

Question is will the physical bitcoin worth the same rate like the online Bitcoin? or another design?
As others have mentioned, there's no such thing as a physical Bitcoin, but the different Bitcoin-related collectible coins you're referring to will always have a different value [each design has its unique value as well].

In physical bitcoin, the private keys are simply embedded into physical objects. A physical bitcoin without this embedding is useless.
It's worth noting that some people buy/sell unfunded collectible coins!

(someone created that physical item and funded it, so it is somewhat centralized)
You have a point, but we can mitigate this problem by purchasing from manufacturers that sell unfunded DIY collectible coins.
44  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My first mining project / mini-farm on: March 28, 2024, 09:01:10 PM
P.s. interested to know why you have "mixed feelings" about wooden structures?
It's more affordable than other building materials, but it can also contribute to spreading the fire fast [no matter how flawless our setups appear, we shouldn't rule it out (unfortunately)]...

  • e.g. The wood frame that's supposed to act as a divider between the hot and cold sides with the help of the somewhat combustible insulation board, scares me [especially since it's next to the mining rack].
45  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: My first mining project / mini-farm on: March 27, 2024, 05:55:07 PM
Could someone advise why my images no longer show in this post?
It has or rather had something to do with "Imgur's imposed limits on IPs" and to put a stop to this recurring issue [at the time], "theymos decided to also put a limit" on Imgur's embedded images.
- It's worth mentioning that you can post direct Imgur links without any issues.

I want to send this to someone I've sold some miners to (to help them build their first hot/cold setup).
Alternatively, you can show them the "archived link" instead.

What do I need to do to fix this so images show again?
Use another image hosting to reupload/repost them: e.g. TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk

BTW, I quickly went through some of the images and honestly, I have mixed feelings about wooden structures [will take a better look when you reupload them].
46  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [General] Bitcoin Wallets - Which, what, why? on: March 27, 2024, 02:16:03 PM
I Think Binance in tha bwst bitcoin wallet. It's easy to use. Very user friendly. Easy to withdraw and Deposit. Treading option and much more...
I'm not a Binance user, but AFAIK they don't have a dedicated Bitcoin wallet [disregarding their involvement with a certain brand of HW] so all of your stored assets in their so-called wallet belong to them [they can freeze or confiscate it whenever they want]!
Note: The user-friendly part is a trade-off between security and convenience!
47  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake BlockGames pre-sale website on: March 26, 2024, 08:00:45 PM
@Jating
Surprisingly, it's already down [I'm not used to seeing a hosting company with quick actions (thanks to Namecheap's incompetent support staff members)] but unfortunately, a couple more of these fake pre-sale websites still exist:

48  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Tuloy Ang pag Ban Ng Binance Sa Pinas At Posibleng Dahilan. on: March 26, 2024, 12:57:25 PM
49  Economy / Collectibles / Re: StackChain Magazine 3rd Print-Halving Edition! Comes with Genesis BTC Card Pack on: March 24, 2024, 04:21:06 PM
Actually you can order in BTC, look a little closer. You can change the currency look on the right hand side https://proofofink.com/wholesale/
Thank you... I did change the currency to Bitcoin earlier, but for some reason, it shows fewer payment options [no longer seeing the Google Pay option] compared to when USD was the store currency: Video link
- I think there's a bug that prevents me from seeing the Bitcoin option or it could also be a limitation imposed by the processor they're currently using for Bitcoin payments.
50  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [0.2 - 1.0] - CodeChange - Next Level Automated Exchange on: March 24, 2024, 02:30:12 PM
Cryptocurrency exchange in fully automatic mode, Best rates
We try to find the most favourable exchange route by choosing the best available exchange rate at the time of the transaction.
Would you mind mentioning the names of the third-party exchange service providers that are part of your platform?
- I'm asking this to find out if popular providers with a history of selective scams are part of it or not.

3.1 We value your privacy and make every effort to protect your personal information. No data is shared with third parties without your explicit consent.
CodeChange, reserves the right to appoint a third-party service provider certified in relevant procedures, for the purpose of documentation reviewing, ascertaining the authenticity of the provided documents, and carrying out the verification on our behalf.
Which one is going to be [former or the latter]?

BTW, I noticed the maximum/minimum limits of the sending amount are being shown on the receive amount field instead [it'd be better to display it under the table].
51  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 55 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: March 24, 2024, 12:26:48 PM
@maxirosson
Earlier, while I was cleaning my bookmarks, I stumbled upon two old hardware wallets that despite being unpopular, they're still available to this day and both of them are still missing from the list:

  • GridPlus Lattice1
    • Built-in tamper detection
    • 5-inch touch display
    • Offline backups with GridPlus SafeCards
    • Full control with lattice-connect (open-source)
    • Closed-source firmware
    • $397

  • OPOLO [formerly known as OPOLO Cosmos]
    • EAL6+ secure element
    • 3.2-inch touch display
    • Anti-theft protection
    • PCB encapsulation
    • Closed-source
    • €149 [€299]
52  Economy / Collectibles / Re: StackChain Magazine 3rd Print-Halving Edition! Comes with Genesis BTC Card Pack on: March 24, 2024, 10:34:08 AM
Here is a link to get your copy of the magazine while they still have some left in stock: https://proofofink.com/product/stackchain-magazine-stack-3-halving-edition/  Availability: 94 in stock
I'd also love to get my hands on the magazine in question and a few other stuff from their store, but it appears that they'll be shipping products from the US [CMIIW] and for some strange reason, they're not giving customers an option to pay with Bitcoin directly [that might also be the reason why many copies are still up for grabs, despite its limited 210 copies].
53  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [LIST] Wallets supporting Taproot on: March 23, 2024, 03:34:12 PM
I just spotted an open-source mobile/web lightning wallet [Mutiny] with full support for Taproot addresses [e.g. it generates Taproot addresses (by default) for opening lightning channels].

@dkbit98
I just noticed there are two Nunchuck entries on the list [is it intentional?].
In the Philippines, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) raised concerns about Binance.
It's worth mentioning kabayan na none of these things would've happened kung hindi nagreklamo ang Infrawatch PH [on multiple occasions] sa BSP at SEC.

They discovered that Binance wasn't officially registered in the Philippines, so legally, it couldn't sell or offer investments to the public in the country.
They tried their best to register sa ating bansa... They even tried acquiring a firm with VASP & EMI licenses, pero hulaan mo kung sino ulit ang nagreklamo? Infrawatch PH.
56  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Buying tBTC testnet3 coins. Looking to buy for BTC. on: March 19, 2024, 06:24:10 PM
I want 50k or more. We got some ideas and I saw something interesting someone did with BRC-20 tokens. They had a loan system set up
I find it hard to believe that any developer would need this many coins to launch a new product, but there's always the option of utilizing the "Bitcoin testnet box" or "Regtest".

so the testnet3 tokens have value because of use case.
And these kinds of threads will be the main reason behind another reset [SMH]!
57  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: platform verification request m.bitmartst.com on: March 19, 2024, 02:58:13 PM
This is erc20, where i sent money: 0x26a11756B74193e39A27918995F4Bc587Fc76DEE
they recommended that I go to the police to report the fraud, but somehow I don't believe that the police would do anything about cryptocurrencies in Great Britain....
I don't want to raise any false hopes, but the following platforms could help with tracking and intercepting their activities [with the help of exchanges]:
- If you were dealing with Bitcoin, you could've had more recovery services at your disposal (don't expect to have a high success rate, but it's better than nothing).

Note: I prefer not to vouch, so please DYOR!

Found two more clones:

58  Other / Meta / Re: My Experience with Common Forum Errors Which I have Encountered on: March 19, 2024, 01:34:44 PM
This second error, is my first time to encounter it. Database Error. Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator. I'm not particularly tech-savvy, so I'm unsure why this error occurred or what might have caused it. I'm hopeful that someone with more expertise can shed light on the issue.

https://www.talkimg.com/images/2024/03/17/JECd2.png
I quickly went through some of the threads on the "SMF forum" and it appears that it could be one of the following things:

  • The database requires a repair or an upgrade; apparently, it has something to do with the number of queries in a certain period.
  • Recurrent issues with some of the mods on SMF-based forums.

It's worth mentioning that earlier in the month, someone else "created a thread" about the second error and it seems to coincide with when our forum goes down or is partially up.
59  Local / Pamilihan / Re: dropshipping on: March 19, 2024, 11:58:53 AM

you can create store sa website.
Libre ba or may bayad [e.g. one time payment or monthly fee]?

kahit ano pwede mo i benta doon.
I hope hindi ibig sabihin nito na pwede din sila mag benta ng mga illegal na droga!
60  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Keterion.com - Send Bitcoin and more without fees!🌶️ on: March 17, 2024, 08:56:52 PM
That's why we've developed Keterion – a payment system that offers internal transfers with zero fees.
~Snipped~
1. No Fees On Internal Transfers: users send their assets to other users fee-free.
It's worth mentioning that Keterion isn't the only platform that charges nothing for internal transfers!

2. User Privacy: we value your privacy and do not require much data to create an account.
I hope I'm wrong, but it appears that your definition of privacy is way different from the rest of the community:
- Nothing good can come out of trusting third-party services to protect our data (e.g. amount of data breaches in the past year or so)!

  • e.g.
we may collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, and other information required for account setup.
    ~Snipped~
We may share your information with:

    Service Providers: We may engage third-party service providers to assist with various aspects of our Services, such as data storage and processing. These providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations;

Our Key Features:
~Snipped~
3. Customer Support: Have a question or need assistance? Create a support ticket and we provide you with the help you need.
I don't want to be too negative, but this is the first time I've seen any platform that has labeled having a customer support system as a key feature [offering such things should be the bare minimum].
