I like the Gearmo 10 port hub the best.  It runs 9 BE's and one fan just fine.

You do know your not going to make anything on BE's, right?

Thanks - and Yeah this is more for my knowledge on how it works than anything else. Right now I just want to keep it all going.
Thanks

Power seems to be my biggest enemy....

I am using a RaspberryPi 2 with an external powered USB hub. Even though it has 12 powered ports....It was too much to fill all the ports with the USB ASIC Miners. I was never able to get more than 4 running at a time because lack of power. Well today something happened to that hub and I need a new one.

I now know not just any powered USB hum will do.... What powered USB hub will someone recommend without breaking the bank?
Even if I have to use 2 powered USB hubs I would like to get more than 4 running from a single RaspberryPi.

Thank you

It does with my Block Erupters.

Thanks

With the USB devices being plug-n-play does that mean for removal as well?

I started down this path for some self learning and now long as I keep finding these little USB Asic miners for cheap on eBay I keep buying them. Smiley Even though I keep adding them I also want to remove as I want for testing another RasPi box.

When I remove one does software keep working like normal? I want to add and remove freely.

Thanks -
Keith

I could not get bitcoin core to compile in the RasPi2-1GB version but did compile fine on the B+512MB version.

I would love to know how to get it to compile without errors on the RasPi2-1GB version.

Right now running the mining op with CGMiner. Everyone recommended to use bitcoin core etc...but as I said could not get it to compile correctly.

Just left it alone over night and seemed to corrected itself. All 3 seem to be mining fine now thank you.

Having a little trouble please advise

AU3 0 attempted reset got error:(0) LIBUSB_SUCCESS

What is it doing when I get that error and do I need to do anything to fix it?

Thanks for the help getting it displayed Smiley

THANK YOU
I now have the display everyone shows Smiley

If I were to add more USB devices do I need to reboot or anything or just plug them in and watch them go?

thanks

Hi - very long thread

I am running a RaspberryPi2 with Raspbian
I compiled with the --enable-icarus option

Should I run ./configure with any other options?

This was what I bought used off ebay -
Bitcoin Miner ASIC Block Erupter USB ASIC Miner UPGRADED SUPER HEAT PADS BTC USB 2.0/3.0
Brand:    ASIC Miner
Processing Speed (GH/s): 333 MHS
Model:    USB MINER
Power Use (W):    2.5
MPN:    BLOCK ERUPTER
Type:    USB Block Erupter
Compatible Currency: Bitcoin, Ixcoin, Peercoin, Zetacoin

I know it is mining - but my screen does not look like any of the other posts....I was trying to add a capture as an attachment but do not see where I am allowed to add attachments....

thanks - Keith
11  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / cgminer compile question on: June 27, 2015, 09:32:34 PM
I bought a used USB miner off ebay - when doing the './configure --enable-something....'

How do I know which one to choose?
How do I know if it is using my USB miner when finished?
Any other --options should I include?

I am running a RaspberryPi2 with Raspbian

I used the --enable-icarus because I found someone posted that in a series of searching I was doing. I am mining however none of the lights on my USB miner is on or blinking however when you touch it - it's very hot so I am going to get a USB fan for it.

This was what I bought -

So I made a 4GB swap file on my RasPi device and it fixed the memory errors.

Now I have these errors when trying to do the make command on the bitcoin core...

Thank you for all the replies. It is a lot for me to soak in.
I am very new - I did get electrum and multibit working on my RasPi2. However never got MBHD to connect to server as easy that electrum did.

still trying to compile bitcoin core... this time I used the incompatible database option and we will see if it works.

There is a lot for me to learn.
I agree a local wallet is more secure. However that I have cloud-based options are nice.

thanks again

It did not install properly - each time I ran make keep getting errors....
15  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet program? on: June 20, 2015, 11:10:52 PM
I have been having problems getting bitcoin core to compile and install
I stated earlier I am setting up a minor that I posted here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1094149.msg11664812

I was trying to install various wallets and looking at the softwares. Electrum was the easiest to setup by far.
MultiBit HD never connected to a server....just kept trying to connect. Electrum seem to work without a problem. I would be curious what is the cause for MultiBit since Electrum was able to connect....

I am still having loads of trouble installing bitcoin core.... regardless if using for mining or not I am determined to figure out how to get this to install properly. Smiley

All and all I am still learning and moving forward. I appreciate all the advice and help.

Got Electrum to install and seems to connect to the network fine...

At least getting exposure to different wallet softwares...
17  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which wallet program? on: June 20, 2015, 09:32:18 PM
I have been trying to figure out the differences....

I am doing this for now to better educate myself on the topic and see if I can setup my RasPi as a miner (posted in another thread)

MultiBit HD seemed to be easiest to install but it is having trouble connecting to the bitcoin network so I have to assume that is on my router or something... Not much is coming up on google for that answer....

I am going to "TRY" to install one or two others just to see how they work... So far this is the only one I have gotten to install...

THANKS Smiley
Always wanting to learn more

It installed successfully and I created a wallet with MultiBit HD...

Now for some reason it is always in a connecting state which I need to figure out...

19  Other / Beginners & Help / Which wallet program? on: June 20, 2015, 08:43:05 PM
There seems to be many wallet programs. Is one better than the other?

I am setting up a RasPi2 and leaning more towards MultiBit just because it looks easy to install... I have zero experience in this area and would love some input....

Thank you

RasPi2 on has 1GB RAM So I assume I would not be able to do that with a RasPi?

Guess more google searching. I wish I knew more about the how-to on setting this up  Grin

Thanks Smiley
