They did not sell for $1699.

Good luck.    I'm out.

You purchased them?

Several unfunded bars have sold for around 5BTC. I don't think that's an unreasonable premium for a 1 of 8 Casascius.

The most recent public sale is: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1171146.0 that sold in less than two days for 5BTC.
283  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 100 BTC Casascius unfunded on: February 12, 2016, 10:46:15 PM
thinking of putting a price on it, but wondering why the price bidding is lower than a bought "void" .5BTC brass coin....just dont know how to value this with not many sales.

watching for now

Good question.  There 'may' have been around 12 void coins made, but of them, there are likely fewer still around that didnt get lost, thrown out, etc.  Maybe 6 left, give or take.

There were 8 of these bars made, all of which likely still remain intact, due to the fact they're unfunded and they were made about a year or so ago.

They're both very rare items and difficult to price without other previous sales.  But for reference, bitguy101 was selling his remaining non 2FA bars for about $1699 on ebay, and they all sold.  The rarer 2FA bar (only 4 made) sold for $1999 each.

Oh wow, I came back to quite the bidding war!  Grin

The bar is still in the plastic wrapping. The assumption is that there are no finger prints or scratches with the protective wrapping still on the bar unless they are from Mike himself.

Considering that all of the bars sold for $1699 and are exceedingly rare that is probably around what I'm looking for. I think that 5BTC is a fair price.
284  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 100 BTC Casascius unfunded on: February 12, 2016, 02:23:30 PM
what are you asking for the bar?

I haven't settled on an exact price yet, there aren't a ton of public sales. Feel free to make an offer and we can go from there  Smiley
285  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTB] Redeemed 10 BTC and S2 25 BTC Casascius on: February 12, 2016, 01:35:07 PM
Redeemed 10B are kind of hard to come by.  I acquired a Silver and Silver Gilt last year, but they weren't cheap.  I'm not selling mine as they will likely be the closest I'll get to having these.  Hope you find one.

So you come in here just to flaunt your shiny coins... I see how it is  Cry

haha I'm sure some will pop up, there's no rush  Smiley
286  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] 100 BTC Casascius unfunded on: February 12, 2016, 01:25:04 PM
Have there been other sales recently??

I know there were 2 on ebay a while back, but I do not think they sold.
They were priced around $2000.  Shocked

I believe miffman is selling one as well.  These bars were originally acquired by bitguy101 last year I believe direct from Casascius.  These are indeed very rare.

Eodguy149...any idea of price you're looking for?

Correct, I have some provenance that can be included, he got them directly from Mike as you said.

I'm not exactly sure on a price yet but I am open to offers.   Smiley

I don't know of any that have been sold on bitcointalk. The bars on Ebay were sold and that seller does not have any more that will be sold from my understanding  Smiley
288  Economy / Collectibles / [SOLD] 100 BTC Casascius unfunded on: February 12, 2016, 11:37:52 AM
I am looking to sell my 100BTC Casascius bar. These were never loaded with BTC.

There were only 8 made that were non loaded.

To comfortably sell the 100's non loaded non 2FA as not to confuse folks, which was never done before, Mike brainstormed and came up with the idea to add a zero btc holo, place it upside down, and place a small red dot over the prefix. The hologram actually says zero btc if you look closely.

There are not many Casascius bars that come up for sale so don't miss your chance to own one.

The picture below is pulled from google, I will be getting a picture of my exact bar in the next few days when I can take a trip to where it is stored. Feel free to post or PM questions or offers.  Smiley

Would posting a picture of my physical bitcoin collection be enough to get that awesome keychain? Cheesy

Post it regardless! Let's see that sexy set  Grin

I vote for Super Delux as well  Smiley

I like the distinction of only one coin being a clear winner, it seems to fit well with the "lucky" theme in my mind rather than the top three spots all winning the same amount. I honestly wouldn't mind the top spot being 2BTC and the rest of the 9 being 0.05BTC. Higher risk, higher reward  Grin
294  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Casascius Coins on: February 11, 2016, 05:25:13 AM
17.1BTC for the 10

Going once... going twice....   Cool

I'm going to have to sell a few things before I bid higher than that or the gf will smother me in my sleep...  Cry

Give me a week  Wink

By "redeemed", have you withdrawn the funds from the private key on the coin (if any)?

And since there is a private key on the coin, how do we know you haven't kept a copy of the key? :-/

Redeemed means that the funds have been withdrawn from the coin so no worries about the security of an empty private key  Wink

Wait? Why is Ravenbit closing shop? Where and when did he announce this?
As far as I remember he announced that he was already working on 2016 coins and that the dies were alread undergoing manufacture..  Huh

Edit: Just saw his end of January update. Still confused as to why this is.

Link please? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

See here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1207137.0

Both announcements can be found on his OP.

Did he give any reason why he decided to move on? It seems rather sudden, maybe I missed an explanation, all I see is the post on the 25th of January. It's unfortunate with how popular the Ravenbit coins were.
