For someone who wants to earn Proof-of-Stake, consider Curecoin.  Check out this whale's history: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/cure/address.dws?B586uiSMNsQjhqfka8Z1jd8RNjVn4w4b5d.htm.  Of course, it also helps secure the network.  It is alot like owning a bond.

Rebta, tell me the coin still lives? I will be interested in PoS mining. I read that he is here.
I downloaded the wallet and bought coins, but I do not see the POS icon in my wallet.

Who can tell?
Please give us screenshot with your open wallet.

Here is my wallet. At other coins, in a wallet there is an icon PoS, then I do not see him.

Please update to the staker version of Curecoin here: https://github.com/cygnusxi/CurecoinSource/releases/tag/v1.9.4.1

We are glad to have you enjoying Curecoin!

Curecoin will be the first to use Veriblock, which gives an alt coin the same security as Bitcoin.  Veriblock just went into testnet.  This is just a theory for the recent price rise for CURE.  Vorksholk is the CTO at Veriblock and a long time developer at Curecoin.

The newest press release is at https://curecoin.newswire.com.  As time passes, web crawlers for the search engines detect which news agencies have published the press release.  I learned of this painting by Wuffy too late to place it in the release, but any further communications with Doc Curecoin might well have it, or something in the same theme.

Shocked Our first press release is up https://www.newswire.com/news/bio-research-loves-curecoin-gamers-and-speculators-to-overtake-1-team-19890448.  Note that there is also a newsroom https://curecoin.newswire.com/, so you can get an RSS feed on CureCoin or follow it, which sends an email each time there is a new press release.

At least a few places have picked it up:

Hello Friends,

We are working with a copywriter to help with an announcement on http://www.prnewswire.com/ which anticipates the movement into the #1 position at http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/team_list.php?s=.  Many publications will have the opportunity to pick up the wire for their own use in either local or national readership markets.  Another announcement will be placed after we have reached the #1 spot.

Congrats to all of us, as EVGA has been extremely formidable competition for a long time.  Still, do consider buying their graphics cards for your folding, along with other manufacturers'.

You also managed to tick off quite a few folks when you sent out "join Team Curecoin" emails to a bunch of EVGA team members.
The more polite comments were "why are they being RUDE and trying to POACH our team members" and went downhill from there.

I personally would never send a letter like that.  Since I don't know who sent the letter, and I don't know whether those people that received it were also registered to receive emails from the Curecoin team, I cannot address specifics about that.

The CC team has been buzzing along very well lately.  You may have noticed that the website at https://curecoin.net has changed, but it is in nowhere close to its near-term end form.  We also have this site up https://curecoin.io which includes an updated Team page here: https://curecoin.io/the-team/.  We will be cutting duplication between the two sites, and have a team discussion on the web sites next Friday.

Max is still hard at work on CC 2.0, now working closely with https://www.veriblock.com.  They have the creatively-named Proof of Proof technology to finish.  I'm working on a far superior project which I call Proof of Proof of Proof Grin  As many of you know by now, CC 2.0 will feature quantum computing resistant cryptography, mini blockchains for the light weight clients such as smart phones, and block times of a few minutes on average.

We are open to more volunteers (everyone on the team is volunteering).  Ivan could use some help with keeping the social media going, and other ideas for your efforts are also welcome.  I will post shortly on ways to contact us.

when we say near-term?
what scales of time are we using?
Rough rough guide for cc 2 release?

this is a very old project and cc2 has been talked about for a very long time. Just to give some indication would be very good at this point.

My Near-Term for a great web site estimate: 2-3 weeks
My CC2 Release estimate: Sometime this summer

Several moderators at Poloniex, say this: "There are many factors that go into delisting a coin, some of the reasons are lack of community, support, development, and performance."

While not a death knell, the potential de-listing by Poloniex deserves reasoning and formal arguments against it, which Poloniex did not request.  However, we still have to do our part in presenting why Curecoin deserves to stay.  Therefore, I propose that we break up the task, as each part can take significant time to document in-depth.  Once we have each of these pretty well documented, we can submit the whole thing.  Let's aim to submit this on 4/25/2017.

Please document in this thread the Community that Curecoin has and it's potential, and perhaps, why it may seemed to have lagged in this area in the past, and what you can personally offer to do to change that, if you can offer something.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Protein Folding Research based Proof of Work on: October 24, 2016, 07:09:51 PM
Per Cygnusxi: "I've been on this forum being honest with people for years. Sure honesty is crap in a trust less world unless you are willing to take that chance on what many agree is still one of the best alts around. The fact that we have stayed in the top 100 on market cap for over 2 years should speak for itself."

I, for one, really appreciate the apparent honesty and relative transparency of the Curecoin team.  I also appreciate that there are almost never any technical glitches in the CC 1.0 network and wallet.

Regarding Market Cap, I am afraid that I have contributed to it not reaching its potential.  See, I have kept my coins on exchanges, and the exchanges probably get the Proof of Stake "interest" on them, then sell those coins earned.  I currently leave my coins on exchanges because I trust the exchanges more than I trust my own ability to secure the coins, even though I am well aware of the significant risks of another Mt. Gox/Mintpal wiping out my coins on Bittrex and Poloniex.  If someone could come up with a recipe for a low-tech person like myself to get them off of the exchange, it would be greatly appreciated.  I am open to both a paper wallet and to securing the computer.  Perhaps the recipe or manual could reside on Google Docs or other place accessible to the public.

My particulars are as follows: I have two types of computers, one is Windows 2012 R2 servers with RDP access, and one is a Windows 10 laptop that is not used as a server.  I would appreciate a list of steps to protect the laptop, and, if possible, the additional steps required to protect the servers.

My hope is that someone other than the CC devs could produce these steps initially as I know that they are already doing a lot of volunteer work for the coins, and that the CC devs might be willing to "bless" the solution(s) presented.

BTW, I am folding away, for almost ten years now.
I will try to convince GPU miners on local forum to switch to Cure.
What happened to http://1.curecoinmirror.com/calculatordemo.html?
It would help a lot in convincing them.

Great to have you on board folding for CURE. We always welcome experienced folders in our forum to help newbs.
There's no better way to re-purpose unprofitable GPU mining equipment than to put it to work folding proteins - and with merged folding (you get CURE plus Counterparty Tokens (FLDC,Scotcoin,MagicFLDC,PepeCash)), so your recommendation to GPU miners is golden. Combined this actually makes folding profitable on newer GPU hardware.

Yes - the profitability calculator disappeared after a server migration (along with its source  Angry ). We have to ask you to refer to the manual instructions until Vorksholk or I can get it re-written:

https://www.curecoin.net/knowledge-base/14-knowledge-base/about-curecoin/16-how-is-the-currency-divided-up/#ProfitabilityCalculator

or to get a rough idea of the cost per coin based an 12 different hardware profiles:

http : // tinyurl . com / curecoin-costs-of-folding-2016

I have a copy of the Curecoin 2.0 Whitepaper in a PDF by Vorksholk which was on Coinmirror earlier, in case that was lost too.  I was wondering why link was no longer good.  Now it's clear.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - 3/21/2016 SigmaXcoin Beta Download + Crowd Sale Active Now! on: April 04, 2016, 02:02:45 AM

yes their will be 2 coin cc 2.0 and sigmax

cc 2.0 will be for folding
sigmax will be a "normal coin" using cc 2.0 technology

their is around 6m coin out there the reset is for paying folders

so the mkt cap is around 144k usd at the moment

the dev got 3%

Could you elaborate on this, or kindly direct me to a post with the logic for this?

Something like...

When I install cc 2.0, x% of my hashing power is used to fold.  Rewards are paid from the a stockpile the devs have?  Sigma is a different coin, but how will it benefit CC 2.0 holders?

There is a pre-mined stockpile that the devs use to pay folders, who fold most efficiently with GPUs, and to pay people who secure the network, who generally use ASICs, like bitcoin.  The devs are working on an extremely high security new coin, which is to be resistant to even quantum computing, not yet perfected by NSA, Google, dwave, etc.  This is the one referred to as SigmaX currently, though the name has not been discussed publicly.
A portion of SigmaX would likely be paid over a period of time to holders of Curecoin 2.0, over a series of snapshot dates, similar to how Bitshares was paid to Bitshares PTS holders as of one snapshot date.  The snapshot would look at balances of Curecoin 2.0 addresses, and pay SigmaX to holders of Curecoin 2.0 proportionally.  Note that we are currently still in Curecoin 1.0, so once Curecoin 2.0 is ready, a snapshot will likely be used to issue all of CC 2.0 to replace the issued CC 1.0, then the CC 1.0 network, including all pre-mined  coins, would be burned.  The exact proportions of SigmaX, and rating of mining are still being discussed, but only publicly for the last several weeks, to my understanding.

Note that the reason for this spinoff of SigmaX from Curecoin is that even though Curecoin 2.0 will have the ability for the folding@home program to issue certificates (new coins), they have not agreed to do so.  Other research facilities may be able to do so in the future, but it is speculative to expect it.  Anyway, in the meantime, a pre-mine will be neccessary in order to pay folders for CC 2.0.  However, SigmaX will run without the need for the devs to have a premine, similar to most cryptocoins, including bitcoin.

Hey everyone, here's SigmaX Beta 2: http://1.curecoinmirror.com/sigmax/SigmaXTestnetBeta2.zip and source is also available both in the zip file and on github: https://github.com/Vorksholk/SigmaX

This release fixes the transaction generation code (you can now send transactions), block syncing code (fixed recursion bug with the block queue), and adds an equality test for transactions to eliminate invalid blocks created by network "reverb" where the same transaction gets included multiple times in a block.

As usual, let me know if you have any bugs. While the old testnet client v1 will work with the new daemon, a small modification was also made to the miner to fix the way it handles block formatting with transactions, so you need to use the updated miner as well. Source code for the client, daemon, and miner are all in the zip, Github only has the important code (the daemon).

I tried the Beta2 zip and this non-programmer did the following:

1. Open the daemon, create a new address, and the daemon seemed to be just listening to the IP address 155.94.254.14.
2. Open the Client, type "help", and get a list of commands available.  What is the status of the GUI client?  I know that you were doing mock-ups quite a while back.
3. Open the miner, successfully submitted several blocks within 10 minutes, submitted another block which was invalid.
4. Will try to leave these running to watch over time...

Thanks and Respect.

I cannot evaluate for bugs in Beta2 as my background is too limited

OK, I solved this problem - I thought that I had unzipped the program, but did not.  After downloading, one should scan the file SigmaXTestnetBeta1, then right click on it to "Extract All".  After that, I opened the Command Prompt and changed to the directory that the files are installed.

I will document later the issues that I had from that point.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin -Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. June 11 2015 Client update on: March 22, 2016, 08:25:58 AM
Since the thread is busy right now I'd like to get some content out here. Please consider joining curecoin.net/forum to be more involved in the curecoin community for future posts, suggestions, etc.

First off, I'd like to cover the attempt to expand the core team. It was recently said that there have been no efforts to expand the team, and that many people would be willing to work with us for free because curecoin is an interesting project. This has certainly not been the case thus far, I have reached out to a lot of people via bitcointalk, linkedin, and various other channels only to find the only people offering help are far from ready to offer that help for free. With the recent change in market movement and the soon coming launch of the SigmaXcoin beta (likely tonight) I figured this is the best time to extend the offer once again to the community to join the core team. If you are interested in joining the core team please head over to the curecoin.net/forum and post there with what type of skills you want to offer to the curecoin project. Anyone who is accepted into the core team will be paid with curecoin, and possibly btc also depending on the work rendered. Web design, logo design, C developers, Java developers, and social media marketers are just a few of the things we are looking to expand.

It's been recently proposed that Team Curecoin is selling itself short by focusing too much on donations to Stanford's folding@home servers and other charities. Due to funds being appropriated to those causes it was simply what needed to be done, however we are going to start taking a much different approach to this. Starting today curecoin donations will be sold off in a few test crowd sales to see how the reception is on bitcointalk forum with this method. The first few crowd sales will be small and capped in value, again this is to test the reception of this on bitcointalk forum vs using various other crowdfunding sites. One of the large factors is this is the ability to accept bitcoin without having a 3rd party involved, because I think everyone on this forum can agree its best to keep your balances in secure cryptocurrency wallets without the meddling hands of a 3rd party and their high fiat money handling fees.

The 3 test crowd sales will be for the following items;

1. Overall development of Curecoin including websites, social media, promotional materials (pretty much everything already listed in the uses for the developer fund)

2. Fundraisers that have curecoins already donated to them, including
a.ANTRUK: Learn More on the ANTRUK homepage. http://www.antibioticresearch.org.uk/
b.Bonfils: Learn More on the Bonfils Blood Center homepage. http://www.bonfils.org/index.cfm/medical-services/research/

By participating in these crowd sales you will not only be contributing to the above list including curecoin development you will also be rewarded in curecoins. This will also help us unload these coins without saturating the market therefor encouraging more folding to earn curecoins which is the main goal of curecoin. With that said, for those who have not been watching the market, the recent price spikes are showing that it is currently profitable to fold proteins and contribute to medical research! This is the "synergistic tipping point" of the scarcity of curecoin driving more research to be done for the profitable rewards all the while knowing that your computational cycles are not just burning electricity on random numbers. Speaking of scarcity, Curecoin will be 2 years old on May 10 2016, which will mark its halfway point to block halving.

Vorksholk just said he is anticipating being ready to launch the SigmaXcoin beta around midnight Eastern Standard time. I will be preparing for that, we will likely have a google hangout / skype chat group for people to join the "beta launch party". I also hope to have the first crowd sale test runs listed today.

Don't forget to join the curecoin community at https://www.curecoin.net/forum !

Cheers and happy folding  Smiley

In case it is difficult to raise the money needed now, I expect that it will be much easier after the launch of SigmaX, as the interested community will be larger.  Curecoin is still trying to shake off its ravaging history of bear market prices.

Run the daemon first. My bad for reading that too fast... If that does not work, try the Java downloads
[/quote]

I first had to uninstall my older Java versions, then installed the newest one, and Java acknowledges that it is now up to date.  I then rebooted the computer.  I tried to run the daemon, but get the same result (the cursor just whirs for a moment, then nothing happens).

I am not sure what you mean by "If that does not work, try the Java downloads."  Could you write out the steps to try?  Thanks...

"Does the command line stay open? "  I can get the command prompt, but I don't think that is what you are asking...
