441  Economy / Speculation / Re: So if you believe in bitcoin, which stocks do you short? on: July 19, 2012, 04:47:55 PM
I see bitcoin really capable of hurting paypal. There are A LOT of people who absolutely hate the service but are tied into it because it's pretty much the de facto option for auction sites. So then EBAY, (who own paypal), might take a hit, who else, Western Union?? Thoughts?

If BTC gets big enough to actually impact Ebay (paypal) or WU, the amount that you'll make off the short will be orders of magnitude smaller then the amount you would make holding BTC.
442  Economy / Securities / Re: How much BTC have you lost out on because you listened to Vandroiy? on: July 19, 2012, 04:25:16 PM
Uncle reeses will never steer you wrong.
So do I buy or sell?

You should buy cheesy poofs.  And then increase the scarcity of the CP market by eating them, removing them from circulation.

Wash your hands before typing unless you have cheesy poof tongs or cheesy poof gloves.

Dude.. embrace the cheesy poofness, just let that shit get everywhere!!
443  Economy / Goods / Re: Pre-1982 (copper) pennies. on: July 19, 2012, 04:19:40 PM
$0.02 each + you pay the shipping.

Right now, I have 151, but if I can just sell them [as a proof of concept], I'll gladly get more Smiley

(I have an unemployed fiance who can sort them in her free time) Tongue

I'd prefer finding a perma-buyer over new buyers each week [this way, we can easily reduce shipping costs] (also, in bulk prices will probably be cheaper/there will be a discount for every 'x' you buy or something)

Your fiance will make more per hour flipping burgers then sorting pennies Smiley

Congress ordering the bearded one to saddle up that white horse..
446  Economy / Speculation / Re: next bubble on: July 19, 2012, 01:40:13 AM
"Bubble" is a pretty vague notion. I think a lot of people just use it when, in their opinion, prices have reached an unjustified level. But if prices must rapidly contract in order to get the "pop" implied by the term, how far and how fast do they have to contract? In the last bitcoin bubble, prices contracted by over 90% in about 5 months. Pretty safe to say that was a bubble. But suppose price climbs to 25 then retraces to 15 in 3-4 months. Is that a bubble? Not so clear. I'm expecting that when price contracts significantly, which it surely will at some point, people will say, "see, I told you it was a bubble!" But given how vague the term is in the first place, that's not a very interesting prediction. The whole debate would be a lot more interesting if we had some reasonably precise definition of what counts as a bubble. Something like, "price has to contract by at least 50% within 6 months."

452  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 30 BTC on: July 17, 2012, 10:45:15 PM
oic.

And as for, why is he posting in Lending?

I heard this was a place to come to if you wanted coins and had absolutely no intention of paying back.  At least I try to contribute to the forum, even if I sound like a broken clock sometimes.

Where is your picture with a pineapple on your head?

We ran out of shoes???
453  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold is Bitcoin is Gold on: July 17, 2012, 06:08:03 AM
Bitcoin continues to foreshadow movements in gold. Since there's more pressure on gold, there's a divergence. Since they're both subject to similar fundamentals, that separation can only last so long.

It's finally time. Gold will follow Bitcoin upward, probably doubling before hitting a correction.

Woot!!

I bought ~36 bitcoins today. The first amount. Providing I can send them to an address and it all goes well I'll continue with some more. I'm annoyed the price has gone up in the short amount of time I've been trying to buy them but what can I do? :-(

sell more gold and buy more Bitcoin!

Sell more dollars FRN's and buy Gold and Bitcoin!!
457  Economy / Securities / Re: [GLBSE] ::METAL.SILVER :: .1217 BTC Per Gram 7/12/2012 on: July 15, 2012, 06:38:47 PM
Our first Silver exchange is in the mail!
11 Shares of METAL.SILVER Exchanged for 11 Grams of Silver.
Congrats

Being the individual giving this a spin I will say the process to cash out with RandomQ has been fantastic.  Total turnaround from my initial inquiry to shipping was less than 24 hours.  Many options were available for shipping, as well as rolling my share/gram value into the ship cost or paying the shipping separately.  The 11g was converted into a coin which actually has a silver gram weight a tiny bit over my actual share count (Thanks Random!).

Decently fun security to toss any bitcents you end up with after dividend payments etc, after a few weeks cash out into some big shiny coin, and seriously, how many other securities have 4 dogs and guns protecting them!

Pictures!!
458  Economy / Services / Re: [WTS] Video/Audio editing on: July 15, 2012, 04:20:58 AM
Hello.  I am a budding AV editor and am looking for a chance to practice my skill/make a few BTC.  If you have some video you'd like put together or audio you want mixed please contact me and we'll work out a deal.  I'll do anything with you supplying the material (wedding videos, ect) to basic requests (Make a Rainbow Dash montage to this German folk song, ect)

Here is one example of my mix-craft: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYwrag28yUU
I've also done a few corporate "how-to" videos where I narrated as well.  Would supply them here, but not sure how those clients would feel about being advertised here so won't provide links.

Example of audio mixing: http://www.filedropper.com/exo-squadepisodeii-magnondawn (gee, can you guess which sci-fi property I enjoy most as a kid?)
