661  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets Reviews on: December 11, 2023, 04:25:19 PM
I think I need the direct  link itself, I checked the link but I couldn't understand the website itself (talking of the content from the websites).

Maybe you should look a little closer - because you literally have a tab called "Hardware Wallets" right to the left of "Software Wallets". Maybe you should leave that job to professionals who know what they are doing Wink

662  Other / Meta / Re: Lists of non merit sources that got to 5000 merits on: December 11, 2023, 04:06:05 PM
~snip~
What will you benefit from this list, because there are already similar lists?

Today is obviously the day of stupid questions because they are all over the forum and really don't make any sense. What on earth does it matter whether someone has earned 5000 merits, and whether or not he is merit source - he won't assign merits to himself (nor can he even if he wants to).
663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Last message from Satoshi 13years ago. on: December 11, 2023, 03:50:36 PM
December 12, 2010 06: 22: 33:00 It seems like just yesterday #Satoshinakamoto posted his last message.
~snip~

Like yesterday for whom - for you who registered on the forum this year or for the one from whom you copied AI generated content?

The OP is from 90% to even 100% created with AI, so I wonder if all of you who reply to posts like this are just shitposting or do you not mind that you are communicating with bots?

664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending your BTC what to pay. on: December 11, 2023, 03:28:39 PM
I did not mean that we are going in the direction of analyzing the possibilities that Bitcoin has at this moment when it comes to processing transactions in conditions where by some miracle everyone would start using it for payment. I am referring to those who currently use Bitcoin and constantly repeat that the fees are expensive, and at the same time it is not expensive for them to spend a significant amount of money on things that can be put in the category of "non-necessary for life".
I think we're going to have to disagree here. If I have €10, and I can choose between investing it in Bitcoin (or anything on the stock market), or buying a bottle of booze, I may choose to invest it. But if I have €10, and my choice is between spending it on transaction fees or buying booze, I'm going to buy the booze.

In other words, you would rather spend money on something that is considered a luxury and potentially dangerous to your health, than give a reward to those who enable Bitcoin to exist? What will happen in a few years when we have 99% of all BTC mined? If today it is too expensive to pay $3 for a fee, will there be any transactions at all if we assume that their price will increase perhaps several tens of times?

If Bitcoin cannot be an alternative to the existing financial system, does it mean that the idea that Satoshi had completely failed?
I would argue the opposite is correct, the idea has succeeded much more than Satoshi had anticipated, BTC turned out too good to be spent, and the majority of people do not treat it as an alternative payment method but rather a store of value, you ask yourself a question, if you had 0.5 a BTC and 20k USD on your bank account, and you were going to buy a car today, are you likely to keep the 20k sitting at the bank and spend your dear BTC that sits on your own wallet?

So you're claiming that Satoshi actually wanted to do something that was a store of value, not what he wrote as the first sentence in his white paper "A purely peer-to-peer version of electronic cash would allow online payments to be sent directly from one party to another without going through a financial institution".

We can adapt his idea to our needs as much as we want and pretend to know that he actually had something else in mind, but I'm sure he wouldn't be (or isn't) happy when he reads that people on this forum have opinions like yours.

When people on this forum already have such opinions about Bitcoin, we should not be surprised in the least that the average person who knows very little about Bitcoin still thinks that Bitcoin is some kind of ponzi scheme, that it is destroying the planet with its mining, and that it is only used by terrorists and criminals.
665  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Nobody is above the law on: December 11, 2023, 03:00:48 PM
Sooo? Frankly, I did not understand the purpose of this topic...
~snip~

I think that the OP is just fascinated with the rules and organization of this forum, although he completely wrongly calls it some kind of law, which of course has nothing to do with the truth. The forum is privately owned, the rules are unofficial, and for those who have been on the forum for a long time, we know very well that these rules are sometimes very selectively enforced.

As for laws in general, in real life they are also very selective and do not apply to everyone in the same way. If by any chance the laws apply equally to everyone, the world will be a much better place than it is.
666  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: IRS Criminal Investigation Unit Is Taking on More Crypto Tax Cases on: December 11, 2023, 11:44:17 AM
Some people are in the cryptocurrency system because it is tax friendly. Many of them will be discouraged to join or continue in the crypto sector if the government that making and enforcing strict tax policies. The government of the US message is clear: " Be regulated or move out of the US".

There are a lot of misconceptions when it comes to cryptocurrencies, and one of them is certainly that by investing in them you can avoid paying taxes - which is somewhat true if you know how to stay under the radar, but if you use CEX with KYC, then it's only a matter of time before the authorities can request this information. The US has always had a very strict tax system, and some of the biggest criminals in the past have been convicted and sent to prison precisely because of the IRS.

However, I would not agree that moving from the US is a solution, unless a person renounces his citizenship and obtains it in another country - if I am not mistaken, US citizens are still obliged to pay taxes in the US even if they live elsewhere.

In any case, paying taxes is something that almost cannot be avoided, but some countries have very favorable laws when it comes to taxes on cryptocurrencies, so they have 0% tax if you sell the cryptocurrency 1 or 2 years after the purchase, which is for many something they can only dream about.
667  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 11, 2023, 11:17:36 AM
I just wonder how they choose their priorities - they come to the forum and see which is the most popular mixer, or they put them all in a hat and draw a name Roll Eyes

I think they are tracking Lazarus Group because from the first blender was seized in 2021 and until today they have been directly or indirectly under the management of that group starting with Tornado Cash, Blender.io[2] Chipmixer[3] and Sinbad[4]

The only exception is bestmixer. I did not find that they have strong links to the Lazarus Group. Perhaps the reason for seizes is the data leak after the dark web market seized.
~snip~

This is the same group that they blame for every major hack that has happened in the last 5 years, and at the same time there is no concrete evidence that they really exist? It seems to me that this group was created in the already well-known kitchen of black operations and serves precisely as the reason that all those fighters for law and justice can be reckoned with what is not under the control of the government.

If this group is so powerful, then why would they use mixers that are under the supervision of the authorities, and not invent a much more effective solution for money laundering - for example, through the banking system that launders hundreds of billions every year, and at the same time we do not hear that the authorities have closed any big bank.
668  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would you pay $1M dollars worth of BTC or USDT for an El Salvadorian passport? on: December 10, 2023, 03:30:34 PM
Did the inflation also affect El Salvador, so they decided to raise the price x10? Just a little over a year ago, the price was 3 BTC or $100 000, but apparently the Presidente doesn't want ordinary holders, but those with deeper pockets.

There are definitely better ways to spend $1 million, without the fear of being kidnapped or shot by a gang.
669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Qatar's sovereign wealth fund eyes $500B bitcoin investment on: December 10, 2023, 02:49:33 PM
The OP is just trying to get some traffic to his site using a clickbait title, nothing more. Anyone who even for a moment thought otherwise lives in a fairy tale world - no one invests half a trillion $ in Bitcoin, and even if they wanted to, it would be a bit problematic to carry out that transaction because all mined BTC are worth a little more than $850 billion.
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Sending your BTC what to pay. on: December 10, 2023, 11:55:34 AM
If we look for negatives, we will always find them because nothing is perfect, and it seems to me that for a few $ people very easily decide that Bitcoin is not "usable", while at the same time smoking a pack or two of cigarettes a day, drinking a couple of coffees and a few beers which every day costs at least $10-$20 at best.
Those people will still want to drink their coffees, beers and smoke. So they can't use that same $20 for Bitcoin transaction fees.
Now add 1 billion daily coffee drinkers, 6 trillion cigarettes per year and 189 billion liter beer per year and you'll see that Bitcoin can't even handle 1 transaction per day for 0.1% of those people.

What I want to say is that transactions are not really that expensive when it comes to Bitcoin when we look at the prices of products and services, but on the other hand we are ready to give priority to banks regardless of the fact that they end up costing us much more than just looking at individual services such as sending money.

In addition, some proponents of the thesis that Bitcoin is something bad and pointless, reading this forum, could conclude that even those who are big fans of the same are actually starting to claim the same thing. If Bitcoin cannot be an alternative to the existing financial system, does it mean that the idea that Satoshi had completely failed?
671  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov sold his account on: December 10, 2023, 11:16:33 AM
He would still be in his position today if it wasn't for the determination of one member who rolled the avalanche that buried Ratimov

If you talk about me, I just tried to put in order all his actions from the past years, in a coherent and thorough way, unlike the previous topics at his address, which looked more like rants and they were posted by alt accounts (and, as a consequence, were ignored by many forum users, although they also spoke the truth about him
).

Of course, who else would I talk about considering that none of the "influential" members of the forum did anything similar all those years because they thought it was not worth fighting Ratimov and those who protected him. A person who built his reputation by covert plagiarism not only that he was not punished for it, but he was also rewarded with merit source status, which only strengthened his position even more.

That says enough that those at the top were always by his side, and even when you cornered him, we saw that he had a special status when it came to deleting everything that could be deleted, even completely unjustified name change. To me, this whole thing seems much bigger than exposing one member of the forum, because I will just repeat that Ratimov is not so much a problem as the problem is actually the system that created him and protected it all these years.
672  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 09, 2023, 03:34:56 PM
Correct, but advertising and using mixers isn't against the law. In Sinbad's case, the problem was that scammers used it to mix and launder the bitcoin they stole, creating problems for everyone else who had nothing to do with that.

It may not be literally illegal, although no one should have any illusions that it will very likely come to that in the near future. The fact that the authorities allegedly detected some mixers as services through which "dirty money" passes does not mean that this does not happen with all other mixers as well. They are surely already working on some new cases, I just wonder how they choose their priorities - they come to the forum and see which is the most popular mixer, or they put them all in a hat and draw a name Roll Eyes
673  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov sold his account on: December 09, 2023, 03:20:51 PM
You write as if Ratimov is a user who fooled the entire forum and all his steps are thought out in advance, not allowing others to predict all his actions. Doesn't his power seem overrated? Smiley
~snip~

I have my own opinion, which does not mean that I am right - but I already wrote before that Ratimov is the product of the strongest local board on the forum, that he managed to progress for years regardless of his methods, to which the majority turned a blind eye and showered him with merits - and today those same people are attacking him from all angles...

He would still be in his position today if it wasn't for the determination of one member who rolled the avalanche that buried Ratimov, but he is now a completely meaningless story because, as I already said, I'm sure there are a lot of Ratimov alts who will continue on his path, of course, much more carefully than he did.
674  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 09, 2023, 11:52:45 AM
However, transferring BTT accounts anywhere and advertising things that are prohibited on this forum means that in the event that the authorities want to locate someone there, they can always request information from this forum as well, given that we publicly admit that it is the same person. What I want to say is that all activities on that forum can have implications on the profiles on this forum.
True, whatever you do there might have implications on your bitcointalk account and is indeed something to think about. With that being said, mixers are not illeal yet so I don't think that those who will continue to promote mixers there are in immediate danger and I can imagine if/when mixers become illegal, altcointalk will ban it too.

Regarding this forum, I think it is clear to everyone that we are in a very unfavorable situation considering that the forum is under the direct jurisdiction of the American authorities, and that the main admin is their citizen whose personal data is publicly known. As for this other forum in question, as well as some others that are mentioned, I cannot say what their situation is in this regard - because if they are located somewhere beyond the reach of the American and European authorities and if their admins are unknown, it is possible that even completely declaring mixers illegal will not affect their promotion.
675  Economy / Reputation / Re: AI Spam Report Reference Thread on: December 09, 2023, 11:27:43 AM
I don't know why this account is still posted by AI and remains innocent. I previously reported his multi-posting violation to the moderators, but the AI's posts are glaring.
~snip~

Obviously, the administration has a very high tolerance for AI posts, which is a very strange attitude to me personally, because for me it is almost identical to plagiarism. Anyway, I reported all four posts with a link to your post, so if nothing else, we can at least hope that the posts will be deleted.
676  Economy / Reputation / Re: Ratimov sold his account on: December 09, 2023, 11:09:36 AM
Has anyone sent a message informing him of this thread or asking him to defend himself?
I'm pretty sure he's seen the red tag on his account, which links to this topic.
My conclusion one way or another: Ratimov is gone.

From everything I've read on this topic, I can only say that I'm surprised that everyone is still dealing with Ratimov or whatever it's called today, while I'm absolutely sure that the person behind that account has at least a few more high-ranking accounts on this forum and that topics like this actually benefit him much more than they harm him.

I also do not doubt that the same person is still behind that account, but considering all the procedures and actions he did to destroy that account, this alleged sale is only the last in a series of successful deceptions.

While we here are wondering whether his account is in someone else's hands or not, I believe that he is proud of having deceived the majority once again - in other words, he is just continuing what he has been doing since the first day - and as I can see, people still have great sympathy for him - merits seem to buy loyalty no matter what.

Of course, it may not be the best comparison, but anyone who thinks that fees are a problem always has alternatives, even to use some altcoins that have no transaction fees at all.
678  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should new cryptocurrency users do first?🙏🙏🙏 on: December 08, 2023, 12:13:42 PM
All those who think that cryptocurrencies are a way to earn something or even become millionaires should know that this is just a myth spread by those who invent various coins/tokens and need people who will invest in their ideas so that they can profit as much as possible. Projects without purpose and meaning, regardless of the fact that they promise everything you can imagine, should be avoided at all costs.

Of course, there are always exceptions, but you should remember that these are only exceptions, and also that research has shown that 95% of people who trade with cryptocurrencies end up with only losses, so you should ask yourself if you have a chance to be among those 5%?

In any case, all those who want to invest in cryptocurrencies should first of all invest their time in acquiring as much knowledge and gathering information as possible. Such decisions should not be made overnight or based on what a friend or acquaintance told you, especially if someone convinces you of something that at first glance looks too good to be true.

When it comes to money and earnings, even those you consider reliable and good people can change a lot, because money changes people very often for the worse.
679  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 08, 2023, 11:42:52 AM
@Rikafip, I should have read better, now it's clearer to me that you need to put their link somewhere in your profile on this forum, and that means that no one can "teleport" anyone's account unless they hack it first. In any case, it is good to create an account there, if nothing else, at least to protect ourselves from those who would try to "copy" us.

680  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Where the mixers will promote their projects? on: December 08, 2023, 11:09:00 AM
There are already 4 pages of applications for signature campaign there, so there's obviously interest despite the lower rate. Keep also in mind that on altcointalk there is a "teleport" option so when you create a new account, you can simply sort of transfer your bitcointalk rank so you don't have to start from scratch.

I'm not sure, but I think that I had a profile on that forum a long time ago, as well as on some other forums - but what I'm interested in is the "teleport" option, that is, how exactly does their admin verify that someone is really the one whose profile want to transfer - anyone can say they are Lucius and give my unique profile number?
