I have submitted AEON to Poloniex and others. Have also chatted about it on Poloniex.
202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: July 25, 2016, 11:48:36 AM
If and when the non-private "Bitcoin" blockchains are hit with massive investigations (arrests, fines) as exposed by Wikileaks, since I do not think any government agency will report the fact that they have apps that can trace all transactions, I think that these public blockchains will persist.

It is only when investors choose to trust the private math, sort of how we all trust pocket calculators to arrive at the correct answers, that Monero and AEON will take off.

Not to sure about Bytecoin, but it does have a professional GUI.

What is also curious is that many other 'coins' sell the sizzle and not the steak. I think that opposite applies here.

I mean, how many times have you see awesome graphics, but no substance -- then no coin?

Or just the opposite, like Vcash, but surrounded by clouds of FUD?

I second that Xpedite -- either trust your chosen crypto or not. This recent flurry of buying is suspicious.

HolyTranaction has warned about potential Chinese pumps/dumps/shorts of BTC and I would suggest that we could have the same occurring here.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 21, 2016, 01:01:54 PM
AEON will reap the benefits of privacy once Xi Jinping, Chinese Paramount Leader (a.k.a."The Glorious Dictator") gets an ear full from his PLA minders about the growing power of the Bitcoin Cartels in Hong Kong.

Jinping's directives will be to finally, and unabashedly, move to politely arrest the players of the Mining Houses and Exchanges -- or to subvert them and use them -- which is probably already happening. After all, Cyber Warfare is also money warfare. But Bitcoin is small 'Tu Dou Si' as it were. It is much easier to devalue the yuan -- print more cash -- and play that game.

In any event, the Bitcoin-Yuan drain needs to be plugged, if "Glorious Jinping" wants to stop his billionaires from buying all that property in the U.S., Canada and elsewhere -- or maybe that is the plan... Hence the new call for high Chinese "purchase" tariffs in many countries.

https://holytransaction.com/ posited that there is more than meets the eye here. That there just might be a massive short in play by the Chinese. Or is it Craig Steven Wright's desire to patent his alleged Bitcoin invention, that is driving the price of Bitcoin lower?

The CryptoNote/CryptoNight based cryptocurrencies (Monero and AEON, primarily) are in a position to help, if there is a big quake in Bitcoin. Perhaps a mixing service will go missing, with many a BTC. Perhaps DASH will falter, if a single bag-holder-node games the system in some fashion, but that could happen to many a Github -- at least temporarily.

Bitcoin is a learning curve. Monero is ahead of that curve. AEON is the experimental rocket, and it ain't headed for the moon...try Alpha Centauri.

My speculation for the day.

AEON Bittrex trades appear to be fully functional again -- after several days.

Their prices are higher than Cryptopia's, but demand is better.

I obtained and transferred some AEON to my simplewallet about 12 hours ago, from Cryptopia, to check speed. It took a few minutes, but all went well.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON 2nd gen cryptonote, anon, mobile-friendly, scalable, pruning on: June 20, 2016, 07:18:04 PM
Note: Bittrex still having issues with AEON. No deposits/withdrawals, just internal trading.

Cryptopia isn't as troubled. Trades go smoothly and deposits/withdrawals are reasonably quick.
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 20, 2016, 05:07:18 PM
Hundreds of crypto's are trending toward zero -- bangomatic.

In fact, I recently changed exchanges for better, lower prices on AEON.

My thinking is if Monero takes off, AEON could benefit. Sort of like a Bitcoin-Litecoin mirror.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: June 19, 2016, 03:39:46 AM
Cryptopia XMR/ETH Market (and all other ETH markets) are closing, please cancel all open XMR/ETH orders.

Full Statement:
https://www.cryptopia.co.nz/Forum/Thread/675

That is big news. Confirmed via Cryptopia website...and I agree with their call.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON 2nd gen cryptonote, anon, mobile-friendly, scalable, pruning on: June 18, 2016, 02:01:08 PM
Trading AEON on Bittrex is currently down for maintenance. I have a few stuck there and have put in a ticket since it has been hours.

Cryptopia AEON trading seems okay...but limited in supply/demand.

UPDATE: Bittrex has responded to my ticket. Said they are moving AEON to a new server. Hope it's a big one!

A teach English in Japan "AEON" logo?

Good luck to the land of Negative Interest Rates. I'd rather teach English in Switzerland.

...on the speculation side...

I see that the sun is rising on Monero. Surely AEON, the daughter, will show her beauty.

Slow and steady now...

Will AEON adopt the new proposal Monero is considering?

That all PR's will be accepted, adopted and only if the PR is 'bad' will the process be rolled back?

Seems like Monero is asking for trouble.

EDIT: Maybe I misunderstand the new Monero proposal. To allow all incoming PR's would speed up the improvements. It would be like deregulation. Like a successful Brexit, maybe.

How much are we looking at in terms of U.S. Dollars, to host a good website?

What kind of hosting service is preferred? Cloud, Dedicated, shared, VPN?
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: May 30, 2016, 03:26:38 AM

It's like panning for gold...only it's mostly a secret for now.

EDIT:

In the blog below, it is speculated that more and more people, not to mention organizations, will begin to move away from "public" blockchains and into "private" ones.

And that AEON might just be the best choice.

At the bottom of the blog a link is provided to the Hubpages 'repeat,' but it also contains a bit more info and a TED video describing why the Darknet is here to stay and evolve into a Private-net, so to speak.

So, in a sense, it is much more difficult to mine any significant amounts of AEON's (or Monero or Bytecoin) and that makes them more valuable...in my view.

Only a few AEON's (of the total) can be mined per day.

The article https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/satoshis-genius-unexpected-ways-in-which-bitcoin-dodged-some-cryptographic-bullet-1382996984 lead me to check on CryptoNote again.

But I'm still curious about the egalitarian mining concept.

I see it's benefits when compared to the giant Bitcoin Farms.

And yet giant gold mining operations lead to better economies of scale.

Is the CryptoNote system comparable in some way to inefficient gold mining? Every man for himself -- with a pick and shovel?

Or are we on new ground here. A monetary (currency) system that is a reflection of a political system? If so, what kind of system?

One man one vote. One CPU, one vote?

But what about, one Microsoft Cloud, 1 million CPU votes?...is this now defeating the CPU based system?

Just wondering if CryptoNote, particularly AEON is a pure-democracy. Where simply, the 51% decide. (Not referencing the 51% Attack.) Or if I'm way off the mark here.

For the layman, these white papers do not clarify this.

In fact, such a clarification might help the cause. (At least for me.)

Now that I understand the reason behind the number of "atomic units" within the CryptoNote "system," it makes sense.

It's not arbitrary.

Is there a verifiable non-arbitrary reason for the  number of "atomic units" in Bitcoin?

Is this the official motto of aeon:

?

Great stuff!

EDIT: "My Friend" did a little blog today... He felt that there should be something out there in the deadweb to read...

http://thecryptopapers.blogspot.com/2016/05/aeon-untraceable-blockchain.html (Updated link)

ADD ON: http://hubpages.com/technology/The-Crypto-Papers-Rebirth-of-AEON ... now titled..."The Crypto Papers: A New AEON"

(Post edited by author to remove repetitive quotations.)

"your friend" is a very good sluth!

i have absolutely no ideas how he dug out the video i used for my avatar...
this video was broadcast by french tv and only for limited duration. It was an information campaign about risk of over-exposure to phone, pc and tv. One might as well say that very few people saw it and everybody forgot it. i can't believe someone found it from my avatar. Congrats.

My "friend" was a criminal/internal affairs investigator in a former life, but it wasn't that difficult "he" told me.

And I'm sure it would take you all of thirty seconds to find my "friend's" name, address etc., since he did not obscure his info that well. But please don't broadcast it.

My "friend" just used the google picture search and combed a little and there was that video. For the record he looks like a "muppet."

As for Smooth, well...I didn't look for the exact scene for the 'Dude,' but I thought about it.

I also wonder if Smooth is involved with Dudeism. http://dudeism.com/. Grin

Just speculating...as to the underpinnings of AEON.
