3  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Butterfly Labs shipping 300 units a day on: July 31, 2013, 09:05:38 PM

Josh just announced that all pre-orders will be shipped out within 29 days.

If true, definitivelly best news today.
Lol, do you think  Phinnaeus Gage is a teller of truth?

Well Phinnaeus (I think) got that info from a post where Josh said he expected the backlog to be cleared by the end of August or something like that.

EDIT: He says it here: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/pre-sales-questions/3611-buttefly-company-still-work-not-3.html#post44788

From Josh:

Yes, I still expect us to be through the back orders by the end of August.

So... pricing?

Look at the addresses to whom you sent to or received packages from on eBay. It's probably the dude who lives near you.

bitbet.us had almost the same bet and it was not a "push".
http://bitbet.us/bet/265/bfl-will-deliver-asic-devices-before-april-1st/
Turns out bitbet.us may actually be in the wrong here! My Little Single is getting 29.4 Gh/s with a firmware update.
In their defense, the bet could be argued to require +/- 10% as delivered (eg, disqualifying firmware updates), but if this performance issue had merely been my software, they'd have defrauded people...
you sure say some stupid things.  You may have a unit, but the bet was for BFL to ship out units to customers.  Which they failed to do..
This. The bet says "will deliver ASIC Bitcoin mining devices to their customers", NOT "a customer" thus implying plurality. Having one unit shipped to one customer does not logically satisfy the conditions of the bet.

Seems really huge! Angry

Well, if all these people getting BFL emails did not sign up for Avalon's mailing list, then it couldn't be Avalon's fault and instead was more likely an error by BFL as it had been suggested earlier in this thread.
9  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Avalon ASIC] Batch #2 pre-Sale Thread on: February 03, 2013, 05:24:50 AM
Im a bit surprised by how many people tried ordering 3+ units today.  That's a lot of power to support.  I might be able to support 2 of them at home before I run into trouble but I'm not sure about 3.
If there's people who could operate a giant GPU farm, there's people who can handle multiple Avalon units. Like me, I don't pay for electricity and wouldn't mind running a couple of Avalons if I had them right now. Grin

The main dilemma I see is which company can get their units out first. As long as Avalon's customers get their units within the next two weeks before BFL ships (which seems is extremely highly possible), Avalon's customers will make their investment back in days. While BFL users could brag about power consumption and all that, by the time BFL ships, difficulty will be cranked up and BFL's customers will have a hard time making back their investment. Maybe not likely, but it could be even possible that by the time BFL ships, there may be even more power efficient alternatives to what BFL offers. Since, Avalon already has their chips and shipped out units, who knows if they're already researching and beginning work on way more power efficient chips (I'm wishing 32nm  Grin) Their units are modular and upgradeable so hopefully, when power does become a important factor, Avalon will have modules available for upgrade that are extremely efficient.

I just received an email claiming that the I ordered a bfl single. I have a feeling that Avalon's email list has been compromised...
I think so too. Bitsyncom was saying the shopping site for Avalon was being DDOS'ed a couple of days before the launch of Batch #2 sales. Now with the whole WalletBit fiasco, I think some competitor is trying to ruin Avalon.

Well, you didn't happen to buy anything from BFL before have you?
12  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Someone just ordered 8 BFL FPGA singles under my name... on: February 03, 2013, 04:55:16 AM
Didn't even know you could still buy FPGA singles from BFL's website...  Huh
