1  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin a deep pullback @40K? on: January 04, 2021, 06:16:47 AM
Many liquidated shorts would love to know this answer for certain. It seems as though the price is headed to 50K because of the institutional interest from known sources such as Microstrategy and other well known investors that we've heard about. I factor in the unknown/silent movers that are driving this movement upwards because at this point 99% of "retail" investors are 100% priced out of the market.
2  Other / Meta / Is there a Uniform Code of Bitcointalk Justice where user's lose rank? on: October 13, 2018, 02:23:01 AM
In the military when a Marine violates the standards/code of conduct they're demoted.

For example a Sergeant (E-5) who willfully breaks the code can be demoted to Private First Class (E-2) if the infraction warrants that type of punishment. They're not Dishonorably Discharged but the striping of rank is a pretty significant deterrant.

I know a user can be banned for spamming or scamming but say that User is FULL MEMBER can they be busted down to a Newbie?

In effect devaluing their accounts to the lowest level and giving them a chance to redeem themselves if it is merited.

Just wondering.

Why?

4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][BOT] Bodhi - Developing China's Prediction Market for the World on: August 19, 2018, 05:18:13 PM
Looks like a promising project. Is your project similar to Augur? Blockchain-based decentralized forecasting market sounds like it could be used to place bets on which way the market will move? It would make for an interesting feature if it was made available. Somewhat similar to a futures market but for blockchain.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: August 19, 2018, 04:41:48 PM
Country Nr. of ATM (Nr. of both way ATM)

Spain    17            (8 )
Czech    15            (2)
USA      15            (5)
Slovakia  6            (2)
Russia     5            (2)
Austria    4            (4)
Canada    4            (3)
Ukraine   2
Italy        1
Mexico     1           (1)
Chile       1            (1)

Number of Monero ATMs went from 71 to 80 in last 40 days.  Not sure why are 2 less in Spain, I probably made a mistake back then.  New countries are Australia and Slovenia.

USA      17
Spain    15
Czech    15
Slovakia  7
Russia     7
Austria    6
Canada    4
Australia 3
Ukraine   2
Slovenia 1
Italy        1
Mexico     1
Chile       1

That's a big jump. Thanks for the information.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is Cryptopia Exchange Safe and Legit? on: August 02, 2018, 11:55:00 PM
Cryptopia exchange I used and felt safe. However, the trading volume of cryptopia is quite small so the liquidity is not good in some altcoins. Please see the trading volume of the altcoin you want to trade before using. This exchange is improving quite a lot, but there are quite a lot of garbage altcoins, the support team is not very good.

I'm a moderator on Cryptopia and have been trading on site for 4 years. Cryptopia is a reputable, safe exchange that takes security seriously.
They provide multiple options for users to secure their accounts and have launched a new SUPPORT CENTRE to educate their users about how to properly secure their accounts.
Customer Support has improved greatly in the last 2-3 months as the CEO has made Customer Support a priority.
The site is by no means perfect but they're constantly improving and making the user experience better.
Stop by the Trollbox and say hello.
It's a friendly place with volunteer Moderators & long time users that will answer any, reasonable, question you may have about the site.
7  Economy / Exchanges / Is Binance's policy now: Keep Airdrops for Ourselves? on: May 15, 2018, 06:10:05 AM
Is Binance's new policy on potential lucrative airdrops, KEEP IT FOR OURSELVES?

Binance users are asking for the MCT airdrop to be distributed as other coins have been in the past. There is no communication from Binance about why it isn't being distributed? Only canned responses from support ignoring the users requests for answers. If this was done with the Ontology airdrop users would have missed out on Millions in profit.

I want to know if this is going to be their future strategy for potential airdrops that could be worth billions.

More importantly Binance received MCT for the NEO exchange wallet? So, why isn't it being distributed? Is Binance claiming that those airdropped MCT coins are theirs? Binance advertises earning GAS for NEO in their exchange wallet as a feature to promote the Binance Exchange as user friendly. Is this feature now going to be offered to users so Binance can keep all future airdrops?

If KEEP AIRDROPS FOR OURSELVES is Binance's stance on future lucrative airdrops their users should be warned since the exchange's stance has changed significantly.

If this policy was in affect for the Ontology airdrop users would have lost millions in value.

****This is a perfect example of why you should NOT keep any coins on exchanges.**** I'll beat 98% of you to the most obvious reply  Kiss
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CRYPTO LIES are halfway around the world before the truth even knows they exist! on: February 20, 2018, 05:17:22 AM
Everyone knows that FUD is prevalent in the Cryptocurrency community, in life in general, but does anyone ever have the courage to admit when they're wrong? What groups here have the best reputation for reasonable conversations? Are there any or is everyone just trying to scam? What's your opinion & why?
9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Preliminary Scam Accusation against Cryptopia for holding customers funds on: February 15, 2018, 07:05:34 AM
Usually wallet issues on exchanges have to be solved by the coin teams, not the exchange. Have you contacted the GBYTE team about the issue? I've never had any issues with Cryptopia.

Deposited altcoins to this exchange and its not arriving. Whats wrong with cryptopia nowadays?  Huh  Huh  Huh

You can read updates on Cryptopia's Twitter account & on Cryptopia's site under News/Information Section.

When you look a little closer you'll see that the closure of the LTC Base Market is temporary. Cryptopia is working on a solution and creating a sister site for LTC markets.

Here's the post published by one of the founders of Cryptopia: Hex @ 1/11/2018 12:11:38 AM

Further Updates On LTC Basemarkets
I understand that while this may not be the update many people want to hear, it at least will hopefully provide everyone with a clear understanding of the path forward.

Cryptopia will be standing up new sister sites such as ltc.cryptopia.co.nz to handle base markets dedicated to LTC on their own trade engine and database to allow them to continue to trade, and allowing cryptopia.co.nz to resume registrations.

You will still need to transfer funds between the different sites to trade on each of them but this will be able to be handled instantly by Cryptopia in the background with atomic swaps, so you'll still have the single Cryptopia account that you use on the different exchanges.

As such, we will be permanently closing the LTC basemarkets on cryptopia.co.nz

Users will have a month to cancel their open orders after which point the markets will be closed and your orders will be cancelled for you.

Further updates on the timeline for the new LTC exchange will be posted as they become available.

11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CRYPTOPIA'S stance on PACCOIN Swap on: February 14, 2018, 06:58:56 PM
I received an Official e-mail from Cryptopia today summing up what they're going to be doing for the upcoming PACCOIN SWAP on March 1st.

Here is the information:

Dear Cryptopia Users,

You are receiving this email because you currently have a non-zero PACcoin balance or you have generated a PACcoin deposit address for your wallet.

Over the past month Cryptopia and the $PAC team have been working together to facilitate the PACcoin to $PAC RCO (Redemption Coin Offering). The original PACcoin has been completely reworked. This includes an algorithm change from SHA256 to X11 and a total supply reduction from 100 billion to 3.5 billion in circulation. As a result of these changes a hard fork will occur on March 1st.

More information about these changes can be found here: http://download.paccoin.net/PAC_White_Paper_2018_Final.pdf

Here’s how the swap is going to work:

• We will be halting the PAC/BTC market sometime in the next few days. If you haven’t cancelled any open orders by the time this happens then we will cancel them for you

• The old wallet will be decommissioned and replaced with the new $PAC wallet. While this is in progress we will be disabling deposits and withdrawals. Please DO NOT send any PACcoin to your Cryptopia wallet effective immediately.

• Any confirmed balance of PACcoin you have on Cryptopia will be swapped 1000:1 or 1000 current PACcoins for 1 new $PAC on the new blockchain.

• The new $PAC will be listed on Cryptopia once we have completed the balance transfers.

Thank you for your continued support!

The Cryptopia team

I've heard this spam is a scam.

A good rule of thumb is that if it was unsolicited then it is most likely a scam. There are so many Scams out there you have to assume the worst until you're proven incorrect.

Not going to bother looking into it myself but thought I'd warn!

14  Other / Politics & Society / Re: How to motivate employees? on: February 13, 2018, 10:03:00 AM
Hello, the leadership instructed me to develop a bonus payroll system or come up with some kind of incentive. Tell me, what motivates you to work at all, how to raise team spirit?

It's simple really. I find that if you provide your employees with an amazing/healthy/non-toxic work environment & a clear set of goals for the success of the company you will have motivated workers. That motivation wears off if your pay scale is on the lower end of your industry & good talent will be poached. Employee retention is a combination of excellent pay, awesome work culture & belief in the company goals. Share the wealth!
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin to go below 4000$ on Feb 20 on: February 13, 2018, 09:57:29 AM
The continuing decline where Bitcoin goes to deeper and deeper levels is very clear. If the pattern continues, the next bottom will be on February 20 where it will drop below 4000. Continuing, then the next bounce will only reach up to around 7000, followed by an even deeper drop.....

The lower BTC goes the better my dollar cost average becomes and the more my stockpiles grow & grow! Accumulate low and sell high!

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW XBY ANN] XTRABYTES - THE BLOCKCHAIN EVOLUTION CONTINUES on: February 12, 2018, 08:32:28 AM
Welcome to the NEW XTRABYTES Bitcointalk thread.

We had a great run with our main thread with 352 pages of posts that were read 364907 times. Clearly we made great progress with the information shared on this forum and it was not an easy decision to close it.

Moving towards the future, we are taking control of the information flow. We have absolutely no problem with people posting legitimate questions and concerns and we happilly address these. However, we feel it is best to ensure the actual content they are trying to access is easily available.

Therefore, in the best interest of our community and for those who will join us in the future, disruptive behaviour will no longer be allowed. From this point forward, spam posts and blatant attemptes of creating false news and misrepresentations of the facts, in an attempt to cause Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt will be removed at our discretion.

Thank you for your understanding!

18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚒ Syscoin -$3 Million 1st round financing; World 1st Decentralized Marketplace! on: February 12, 2018, 06:30:30 AM
I've been hearing some rumours that Syscoin will be on Binance soon. Is that true or, at least, in the works?  Grin

If we are to be added, we would certainly appreciate it, but we have no knowledge of being added soon or ever.

We heard a rumor yesterday that it would be added today that it would be have been added today, however, the entire day has passed and it is past 6AM in South Korea, we have not been added so I can only assume that the rumors are false.

So that's just a rumor? yes at least it has not been news for sure, everything may have been a bit quiet about it, while binance is currently down and can not be accessed.

Only Binance can really confirm or deny the rumor, we aren't aware when or if Binance will list us. As I am their first point of contact, I've reached out to many exchanges, including Binance but that's all I can really do.

That would, of course, be great if SYS was listed by Binance. There is another way to get listed and that is through the Binance “Community Coin of the Month” program. The community coin that receives the most votes will earn a place to list on Binance exchange for free.

Nomination of candidate coin:

Please fill in the Community Coin Application form. We will have a strict screening process. If you are not a core team member of the coin, please kindly ask a member of their core team to make the request.  If your coin is not selected for this month, feel free to apply again in the next round.
For this round, voting will be done on Twitter.

So, when the next round comes up if SYS isn't listed yet we could motivate the community to vote SYS on!

I'll keep an eye out for the next contest.

20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is the Litecoin Cash (LCC) legitimate? on: February 11, 2018, 06:30:37 PM
I find it interesting that it has taken this long for someone to fork LTC. The 10 to 1 split is enticing but I wonder what people think about the upcoming fork? Charlie Lee has called it a "scam" but he doesn't own any Litecoin & dumped his bags on the entire community so he's not the best advocate. What's the opinion of the community that still holds LTC?
