1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Today I turned off all the miners I manage on: October 20, 2018, 08:22:45 PM
mining is still profitable - yet not that sort it was a year ago, but still profit.

anyone having a rig, which already paid for itself and reasonable price for electricity has little reason to turn it off. In our case, we pay ~0.14ct/kwh for our testrigs in our office and those rigs making 130-150% of electricity daily (means we earn 50% more than what we pay for mining electricity). For us it literally pays for the additional electricity (+basic charge) we use in the office environment and still have a little extra for coffee and such stuff.

So - given, the rigs already paid itself - they do earn money. Not enough for a lambo but at least they can cover other costs of your daily life. Using a proper software you don't even move a finger for that, beside exchanging to fiat for paying electricity.

Buying new rigs? Hard to judge. But still a better investment than photovoltaic for example (which needs much longer to hit ROI - but with less risk)

The rigs have paid back for themselves thankfully but what my colleagues did is that they have left a lot of cryptos untouched and they do not want to sell now and are waiting for a better time. I told them that what they are doing seems just about right so we are waiting together.

My small home rig I have it on mining X16R algorithm as it is the one giving me the better results compared to any other algorithm with Nvidia cards.

I just got a text message from a friend that Real's manager is being replaced by Conte.  Lol.  And that Conte already signed the contract.  Grin

Can anybody confirm this?

I doubt they would replace the manager so early on the season. I have never seen Real Madrid doing such things from a long time now. I am the one who think that Mourinho should go away from Manchester United but still for Lopetegi here I think he has not had enough time to show his true colours with Real Madrid.

If I were Real Madrid president I would give him time at least until end of December before taking any final decision like firing him.
3  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: October 20, 2018, 04:53:24 PM
I didn't expect Chelsea to fail to win against a weak Manchester United today but that what Premier League is, it is full of surprises although many people will not consider this draw a surprise I do. I do because Manchester United has not shown convincing football in the last games they had both in national and international territory so I lost some money on Chelsea today.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Today I turned off all the miners I manage on: October 18, 2018, 05:07:44 PM
I manage a few miners for some of my colleagues and they all told me and insisted that their miners to be turned off. Here where we are electricity is on the high side being roughly 0.11 cent/kwatt for businesses and a bit higher for personal use. We were barely getting to be even with Rx 570 and Rx 580 series so all 20 mining rigs are turned off for the moment.

What are you guys doing with yours ?
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 18, 2018, 04:56:25 PM
Yes because I was reading the news like I do daily and they even add a special article to Piatek in one website I usually read daily European news. The president of Genoa has gone crazy and asks an incredible amount of money , not sure what the sum was but if any European team wants him, they need to pay this big sum to Genoa.
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 17, 2018, 09:04:36 PM
Juventus vs Genoa.

My prediction: 3:1

Hat trick Ronaldo and 1 goal Piatek.

If Piatek. will score it will be his 9th goal in nine games .He is close to equal Batistuta record
And he did score for Polish national team against Portugal
Genoa wants 50 mln euro for him
Lets see how he will perform against iron Juve defense

Piatek is doing well so far but the reason I don't watch anymore the Serie A is because of Juventus winning it a lot of years in consecutive order. Lately many teams are playing well in Serie A but this is not enough to win against Juventus and I think Piatek will not score during this game.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Check your Electric Bill on: October 17, 2018, 08:33:16 PM
If you put the rigs in such a way that they heat some of the premises, you will win even more in the winter by paying bills. In winter, mining becomes more profitable due to savings on heating, which mining takes over.

That is true, in fact it seems from a hot summer, where I am located it is started to become very cold at nights especially but I sleep well with my little 1050 ti-s mining computer beast heater. Unfortunately I have a fixed electricity cost so I don't win anything like in some other countries where energy is cheaper during the night. Still I don't turn my AC on very often in winter with a miner running.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvidia/linux upgraded from 390 to 410 drivers, hashrate drops after overclocking on: October 16, 2018, 09:05:04 PM
All software run just fine on 396.48 (I'm not new to this). Also tried newer versions of ethminer (in fact I tried all from 0.12 to 0.16.1).

Has anyone here *ACTUALLY* used 410.66 under Ubuntu 16.04 with nvidia 1070/1080/1070ti/1080ti ?

Note that these drivers were released *today*.

@swogerino gddr6 has nothing to do with it (gtx10x0 doesn't use gddr6).

Yes you are right about Gtx 10 series and I made an error by not explaining well, I mean that the new Rtx 20 series will be able to squeeze more out of them with the new mining software programs, as these new versions need to extract the full power of Gddr6. This is what I mean.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: nvidia/linux upgraded from 390 to 410 drivers, hashrate drops after overclocking on: October 16, 2018, 08:15:33 PM
Hours ago I installed the latest driver from 394 to 416 driver for 1080ti but it seems the hashrate drop that is why I downgraded it to 399.24 driver version.
Try to downgrade it below 400 version of Nvidia card. It may fix your issue.

Or maybe you are using an old mining software so try to update it too to the newer version to make it work.

Probably mining software programs like Nicehash , Claymore Miners, EBWF miner etc needs to be updated in order to take full advantage of the new GDDR6 memory technology in these newer cards. I think we will have to wait just a little bit more until these miners are updated. In the mean time you can continue with the 39x.xx version of Nvidia drivers.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: International Games Prediction Thread on: October 16, 2018, 07:07:08 PM
The International Games are not showing many surprises so they are better than the normal leagues. People are making money and the odds of these teams are really good. Not a lot of difference like when plays Bayern Munchen against any other Bundesliga team. When you lose a bet on a low odd you become really sad compared when you do lose a bet with a higher odd.

In this way I am in favour of these International games as I have made a bit of money with them.

Spain-England 0-3
Netherlands- Germany 3-0

I think both are big surprises
It is first game what Spain lost at home from years
i can understand no Ramos no Isco but 0-3
looks like Germany nightmare continue still no goals scoring

I don't think so , and it is 2-3 Spain-England and not 0-3 but Spain is not what it used to be anymore, many key players are old or even retired from the national team like Iniesta which was the "mind" of the Spain national team. England has done a lot of improvements in the late years so I am not surprised for this win from them.

Germany is no big surprise either, before the game, Germany had 0 goals scored and 3 conceded and this shows that Germany is not in any good condition since their loss against South Korea in the World Cup.

How come Ferrari has the fastest car ? In straights if they had the fastest car they would be able to get Mercedes cars while we saw on Russia that Hamilton overtook Vettel on the straights with Drs on ?

And on top of that Hamilton is really the fastest driver on track actually.
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2016/17 on: October 13, 2018, 08:26:15 PM
This week both top team were not able to play against the home ground opponent team, Real Madrid lost it Alaves as Alaves scored goal in last extra time and Barcelona just were able to draw the game.

Now Sevilla is leading the table and Real Madrid are 4th in table.

Real Madrid are going to struggle this season, any team would if they lost Ronaldo. At times heís single handedly carried them over the last what, 10 years?
Lots of their players are in their 30ís, itís like all goid things - they inevitably come to an end.

Real Madrid struggles have just began you can see across all competitions they're lacking the cutting edge to win or they're missing Ronaldo heroics, honestly I was quite baffled by their decision to sell, but then for a 33 year old that price was always going to be difficult to turn down. I also feel they should have got Hazard or Neymar to make sure they were ready for the season, but they decided against and it's proving to be a big mistake. There're rumours they can buy Hazard in January, and even Hazard has been calling them out let's see if this move happens.

It is really true that without Ronaldo they are nothing it shows, even in Juventus you can see they won all their 8 match after getting Ronaldo in their team. Ronaldo being in the team is enough to boost the spirit of the other players.

Juventus used to also win before Ronaldo was added to the team. You cannot compare the Italian Serie A where a single team like Juventus is dominating from 7 years now I think as I don't follow much Serie A because of that reason.

Juventus signed Ronaldo in order to win the Champions League as it is there where they are struggling and the true difference will be shown there.

Real Madrid together with Barcelona are not doing well in La Liga this year, this makes La Liga better to watch and also gives an opportunity to other teams to try and win La Liga after many years that is won only by these two teams.

I am very sure everyone who watched the Liverpool vs Mancity match was very disappointed. because actually this is a highly anticipated match. moreover they (gamblers) who have guessed the score over 2. they must have lost a lot of money. because nobody thinks that the score will end 0-0

Even though I didn't bet on it but, I can feel the disappointment. No one would have expected that the match will end as draw.

I'll agree I didn't play on this high profile match, but I can feel the disappointment it was billed as one of the biggest match in the league but turned out boring. I can't understand how the match turned out goalless despite the best attacking players of the league were there. I do hope when they meet again there'll be loads of goals, and I feel their next encounter would be crucial in deciding the title winner.

Many persons won money out after this big game although they were lucky that Manchester City missed a penalty as these persons played it as a draw. It is a boring weekend this one without games of the big major leagues while we are forced to see International teams in action and although surprises happen less in International tournaments, even these teams are making a bit of surprises, mostly the African teams.

It is good to see that it appears you are going well with your project and have moved forward, however I still didn't see a miner for Windows in your website. You said that you will add it to your "to do" list, any news about it or  have you completely forgotten about a Windows miner ?
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD RX 670 | RX 680 12nm Speculations on: October 11, 2018, 05:35:02 PM
really?? waiting this cards for mining with ETH at lowest prices with a 11% drop today.Huh are you fucking kidding???

You deserve to lose it all, omg.

There are some people who believe to in crypto so much that they are willing to mine at a loss too just to have enough crypto when the increase in the price will happen. I was one of these persons but I am not anymore as I have turned off my Rx 580 rigs which I manage for my friends and they agreed to do so. They will wait if any increase in price will happen in December and if not, they are willing to sell their rigs locally for 1500 EUR, which they have already got offers for them at this price.

I am only keeping turned on a rig with low power consumption cards like Nvidia Gtx 1050ti but that is just for hobby now as you don't make any money with them either.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD RX 670 | RX 680 12nm Speculations on: October 10, 2018, 07:33:01 PM
If they lock it for Bios editing they will lose a lot of customers, the miners. And since the miners are the majority of customers of AMD, they were never good enough to fight Nvidia in gaming , it can be a suicide move for them so I don't think they will lock the Bios editing feature found in the Polaris 20 cards.

This is good also for the competition as if these cards appear to be good for gaming too, Nvidia will be forced to lower their price for some of their cards. I don't expect these cards to be able to fight the RTX series because of GDDR5 limitation.
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A banking app helped me beat my addiction on: October 10, 2018, 03:02:08 PM
I think calling crypto gamblers degenerate is going a bit too far. A crypto gambler who becomes addicted is the same as an offline gambler who becomes addicted. I agree that chances of becoming greedy and addicted are far more by playing online than offline.

When you play online, the moment you finish your crypto and don't have anymore , you go to William Hill for example, fire up your credit card and continue to play. In the extreme event you may even link your bank account to the gambling site and lose a lot by becoming addicted.

This is something anyone who feels like the guy in the story in the beginning of the thread should ask help from companies who are specialised in removing the addiction from someone.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using ASIC MINER for MONERO on: October 09, 2018, 07:33:41 PM
It is a known thing this one, that Bitmain only cares about their finances and that is why I like developers like the ones who have developed Monero, they care about decentralisation while Bitmain doesn't and that is a fact.

I think Bitmain has quit going after Monero after they changed their algorithm once, they can do again , so I doubt Bitmain will have time to lose chasing the new cryptonight algorithm.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Using ASIC MINER for MONERO on: October 09, 2018, 06:21:03 PM
The Monero developers changed their algorithm when ASICS were being produced massively only for the Cryptonight algorithm with crazy speeds like 220 k/hash per second.

The developers of Monero don't share the same views as those of ASIC makers so they moved away their algorithm to the new Cryptonight V7, and they will be ready I think to move to another version if ASICS come again to attack this algorithm.

So you can't mine profitably with an ASIC anymore the Monero algorithm, you should use GPU rigs and the most profitable ones are those with Rx Vega 56/64 cards.
