Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: the RISK of FPGA mining

My only FPGA risk assessment:
Creating a FPGA based mining schism just entices another shitmain to come to fruition.
The future is seen through these eyes. I see the future behind us.
There's only greed now in crypto prices for fpga's will never go down only up once a greedy bastard like shitmain starts getting evolved just swapping one devil for the other

Using whattomine.com :
1 1080ti = $2.20/$1.74 (revenue/after electricity. The lowest price card on newegg is 750. Thats 431 days till it pays for itself @ current price (mining Nicehash-Lyra2REv2) 1 rx580 8 gig = $1.39/$1.07. The lowest price card on newegg is 320. Thats 299 days till its paid off mining EthereumClassic. 1 1070 = $1.38/$1.10. Cheapest card on newegg is 450. Thats 409 days till paid off.
I know which one I would choose. more $$ does not equal better card for mining.
This is a remider Whattomine calculations are based at present/todays profitability you can't actually use this as reference on the number of days on your rig to get paid off current difficulty and price is not the same for tomorrow, the next days/months or year Ya everyone on ETH this ETH that, hello there are way more coins than ETH I haven't mined a coin listed on wtm in months and really I don't care about ETH the chain is always over loaded and its a hub for hacks plus not one normal person can write a contact or even download the blockchain to run a desktop wallet

Looking for some help with my rig. Have been using claymore for a year no issues until now, but yesterday i did a bios update to fix the issue of 5 of 6 GPUs being discovered in device manager and it worked but now claymore crashes almost straight after opening with no error message. This is my log:

- taken all but one gpu out - changed risers - increased virtual mem - excluded in windows defender and firewall - uninstalled nvidia and amd drivers with ddu and reinstalled with latest version - added -mode 1 - pci is all gen1
Rig: Celeron G3930 Asrock Gaming k4 mobo 4gb ram 1500watt psu 3x 1060 1x 1070 1x 570 1x 580
Dont know what to try next so any ideas are appreciated cheers!
Edit: Tried phoenix miner does pretty much the same thing heres the log: 2018.07.29:15:29:59.924: main Phoenix Miner 3.0c Windows/msvc - Release 2018.07.29:15:29:59.924: main Cmd line: -pool eth-au.dwarfpool.com:8008 -wal 0xB637EEa7E4F0aB00c342AF86529b191d9FAc3075 -pass x
For some reason sometimes I change drivers or use a different miner than go back to using claymore it crashes and the only way I found to fix it is to reinstall Windows I think claymore miners screw with win registry and drivers

Ya its crazy I've been mining for 4-5 years and always mined even when I paid more in power than I was mining because I believed in crypto now there's a million coins to mine and because of greed, asics miners and now I believe ever more centralized fpga's because of the cost and the dev fee's that will be put on the bitstreams so to even find a coin that you want to mine is a job all in its self, we have cryptonight, cn-heavy, cn-lite, cn-fast now equihash is going to have 10 different variants its getting out of control

Right now you'll make minus $0.96 running a A3 this is what asics do to profits once asics take over a chain its screwed look at D3 or L3 the only way to turn a profit is if you have free power I don't understand when a asics gets released why people get hyped up they wreck profits and are cancer to blockchains

History with these asics just repeats and repeats the more asic get released the difficulty goes up profit down look at the D3, A3, L3 the same is going to happen with the Z9 and E3 you can never keep up as soon as you think your going to profit they release a new bigger miner now spend another $2000-$3000 its never ending asics are cancer

Hi, Devs! About version 0.5.1: - about ccminer/hive compatibility: there are problems with supporting API commands "threads" and "summary" http://prntscr.com/k8m38m- about json config: miner will not start if, for example, I not specified intensity. - If I use decimal values in "", it will not start Thank you. API works fine! Only one method "summary" is here Has 0.5.1 been added to Hive yet? I tried seeing if changing the ending of the 0.4c download link would work but it didn't... I think I'll try filezilla and copy the new miner into old file and see whats happens

When I was running win 10 and want to remote desktop in I was using dummy plugs cause the screen size sucked but I stopped using them because one of my gpu's that had the dummy plug burnt out so I got nervous and removed them from my rigs now I'm running hiveos and it's stable been running for months with no issues rigs crashing or win somehow sneaking in a upgrade after I had it disabled, I wish Microsoft would give us back control of our pc's without going through a bunch of crap to disable updates

I think it's crazy a lot ppl here are all for asic look at the a3 it's now negative so it's proven again unless you are a first batch buyer or big miner with connections you will loose money you can't even roi without having to buy a bigger asic to keep up is this a problem with gpus only depends on what u mine but it's ok everyone keep throwing your money at bitmain and support asic but kill crypto mining

Oh... and if anyone is looking to expand on this and include more testers I would recommend Vosk Coin.
Please, no. Guy is annoying af. Just my opinion! Well, I would but I need my review sample back as we only have 1-2 spare. In Vosk's last video he mentions mineority disappointing him by selling FPGAs instead of working on ProgPOW. Then he's complaining about reduced Nvidia profit due to the Z9 mini and bitmain being evil, and how 'people' only care about profit, yet he's bought two Z9's and another ASIC on the way? If he's not going to set a decent example, he's just a hypocrite. I don't hate the guy, I just think he could do a lot better if his reviews were more focused on the technology and less about how much money he can make. Let him and his subscribers buy their ASICs and leave the FPGAs for people that can tell the difference between a scam and a deal at this early stage. If you have a review sample please send it to Seth or someone else that actually made some FPGA videos recently. what load of rubbish, you make no sense at all. Vosk does a YT channel that looks at all aspects of mining, so how the hell can anyone gave worthwhile opinion on ASICs but not actually have and use any?? He has stated many times that his preference is for GPU mining and so ProgPOW would be more important to him, its just a point of view. You advocate groups should stick exclusively to one tech or another? FPGAs or ASICs, like fanboys? Really? Which 'people' only care about profits? your statement is not clear, Bitmain certainly are evil and have carried out their business with total disregard for anything other than their own bank balance. The thing is mining is supposed to be incentivised by profit, why do put that down as a bad thing? Think harder before post anything, you currently have no credibility. Thank you for the kind words and support. People like you are why I stick around Anyone who believes this guy's reviews are sincere are pretty naive. There's a pretty stark difference between the Vosk on youtube and the one in real life. Anyone who knows him knows that he'll promote anything and even screw over his friends so long as he gets paid. Ask Vosk about overcharging honest people for dog shit hardware. As if that wasn't bad enough, he also embeds malware in miners that he resells honest people so that he can hijack their networks. This guy will get exposed soon (TM). lol okay, let's not derail this thread with any more comments and strange accusations about "this guy". I mean, I don't think any youtube reviewer deserves an unsolicited review sample. When they say "do your own research" 3 times in every video, they should take their own advice and pre-order the thing themselves if it looks interesting. I especially hate how they all call themselves noobs to relate to the audience, yet somehow they have offices and/or basements full of so much mining hardware it makes the pros jealous. If you want an acorn, order it on Friday, or you might be waiting a long time. Don't wait for the professional noob reviews. Ya disgusting isn't it

I'm glad! Today I got tokens for the bounty campaign. Is there any information about when the token will be added to the exchanges?
Very nice ! I also got my tokens for the bounty campaing - thank you. There is news about Gifcoin exchanges on there Twitter channel, and they say that Gifcoin will be on an exchange sometime in 2019, so we shall just have to hodl till then, but I'm sure someone will start trading on EtherDelta. https://twitter.com/gifcoin_io/status/1012965116281794560It's already trading for fractions of the the second ICO price on EtherDelta and ForkDelta. Will GIF still be sending profit sharing at the end of 2018
According to the Telegram, no, because of the rebranding from VitalBet to Buff88. The team sure is trying to extend the ICO phase for as long as possible. We've had an extension, now a second ICO, then the eGold airdrop/ICO too? if I remember right. Sure seems they're trying to acquire as much money as possible. We're well beyond "shady as fuck" territory, imo. Ya its just not looking correct we get no info here I don't mind holding but it clearly states that their working on the biggest exchanges and are giving yearly airdrops starting end of 2018 now they just change everything I don't know shit isn't looking good

Right now, if you want to support zencash and untill they fork you must buy a Z9 Actually I think he supports USD only every review is slammed with amazon affiliate shit so I don't bother with any of it
