501  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Canaan Avalon A7 Group Buy - Hosting at CryptoBoreas (Canada) on: December 23, 2016, 03:05:53 PM
@tntdgcr already paid me a deposit of 5 BTC for 150 units.

Is your client/seller only accepting btc as payment for these?
502  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 22, 2016, 10:40:59 PM
I received my repaired S9 hash board today, installed, powered up, and now one of the other hash boards (which I purchased from BitmainWarranty) is not working.

Anyone know if this board has a warranty if I purchased it from BitmainWarranty? It appeared to be used when I got it too

I sent an email to BitmainWarranty but I'm sure it will take them days to respond as usual.

503  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: SinoHash, Ponzi-proof hosting service brings price under $40 per miner per month on: December 21, 2016, 10:04:36 PM
Thanks!

FYI Antpool chooses to mine empty blocks (ie no tx) because of a financial incentives at the cost of everyone else mining responsibly. This is why i will not mine with Antpool...nothing to do with payout structure.

@usenet, what country are you located in? What pool are you mining on?  I am considering this hosting service myself

Poland. EU.
For some time, I prefer PPS in mining. Therefore I choose Antpool and F2pool. In addition, also using the Slushpool.
If you're hosting in China select chinese pools. Its better.
philipma described the case when he was hosting with Mr. Li.

I will not support antpool due to excessive empty blocks. If there are some good smaller chinese pools then that is a better choice IMO

You purchased directly from Bitmain and shipped to SinoHash?

506  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: December 21, 2016, 02:07:33 PM
BitmainWarranty in Denver finally emailed me back yesterday. They were able to fix my board after 15 days of messing with it but no explanation of what was wrong with it. $175 repair bill plus $25 to ship back

yeah  this is about standard proceedure

Well I previously sent a board and they had it fixed in 2 days and the communication was great. This last go around was not so great, mostly because of poor communication.

Maybe Denver needs more employees? I wouldn't mind working in the bitcoin profession myself  Tongue

Do I have to have a Paypal balance or can I just send a normal Paypal payment?

Bottom line is that the s9 is a pile of crap, high HW, bad code, high failure rate of PCB, etc. Kano's stats have proved the bad performance of the s9 as well.

Luckily bitfury chips are starting to hit the streets

Hey guys, anyone got an original copy of the B13 firmware?

I've tried both:

Antminer-S9-201607131442-12.92T-600M-security.tar.gz
Antminer-S9-201607131442-11.85T-550M-security.tar.gz

And they both upload then give the "Incorrect firmware!!!" error

Did you backup the original firmware? I have a file that might work for you that I can email

Anybody Kano miners in China other than Canaan? I was thinking about hosting some gear over there and pointing to the pool
513  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain Announces the Antminer R4 and APW5 Power Supply, Designed for Silence on: December 20, 2016, 10:34:09 PM
One of my R4's that stopped hashing on one board has stopped hashing completely after trying to restore the original firmware. The hardware version listed under system overview says "   Socket connect failed: Connection refused".

I have tried powering off several times, reboots, updating firmware, etc. No more hashing. There has to be an easy fix to this without sending to Hong Kong or letting sit in Denver for weeks on end. Any thoughts?

EDIT:  unplugged the original board that did not hash and fired back up, the one remaining board is hashing again at 4th/s!
Exactly same fault here - I think we discovered common issue.

What are you doing about a fix? Sending back to Hong Kong? Denver? Entire unit or only board? Bitmainwarranty is not answering the phone or replying to emails
514  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Canaan Avalon A7 Group Buy - Hosting at CryptoBoreas (Canada) on: December 20, 2016, 10:19:55 PM
Yeah 2 depending on shipping cost.
515  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: Canaan Avalon A7 Group Buy - Hosting at CryptoBoreas (Canada) on: December 20, 2016, 10:10:35 PM
That's actually a reasonable price. I'd like to grab a few for sure if shipping is reasonable. I may also be able to find you a client that can grab 50 or so and host them with us. Any way you can calculate shipping costs to Labrador, Canada, postal code: A0P1C0

Or alternatively PM me the address and info they'd be shipping from so I can try to calculate the shipping costs myself. I presume DHL would be an available option in your area, no?

Alan,

If you end up buying/shipping some of these to your facility I would like to grab a few as well to host with you

... Let me know if that actually works on an older miner that was upgraded to the newer firmware.

Does a Batch 4 running @ 618.75M count  Tongue

I can confirm it works on Batch 2 with latest firmware from Bitmains site
